The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else

  • It's a shame Folkestone has become so run down, I moved to Folkestone in the early eighty's and it was a nice place then. It still has it's nice sides but like any other seaside town it was neglected for many years. Ugly buildings started sprouting up all over the place, boring fencing was erected where it was least needed and people seemed to loose their pride in their Home town. So not just the council is to blame, we could all help to make Folkestone a friendly and clean place again. The start was made when the council at last started to get the Harbour looking good again... there is so much more that we could all do to make things better, so what is stopping us ? ? ?
  • Just like any other town, Folkestone has its ups and downs. Problem is, unlike Asford with its Bowling and new Cinema, there is nothing special about it.
  • We need to orginise press gangs to round up all the ilegal imogrants ship them out to a large tanker send them out to sea and pull out the plug
  • Lower Sandgate Road Park - excellent amusement for children, plenty of seating for adults. Gets busy in Summer.
  • The lovely new Ampitheare that has been built as part of a scheem to bring more ppeople to our town is great, It is free to see performances and is lovely in the summer. They have also built an amazeing childrens play area too.
  • I hated it when I was a teenager, but I've got quite a soft spot for it now.
  • There is no top toffy here - looked for ages, they must all be at home
  • Famous Folkestone Residents I'd like to correct an entry about June Brown (EastEnders Dot Cotton) - she actually has a flat in Earls Avenue. And her husband, Robert Arnold (who starred as DC Swain in Dixon of Dock Green, and was in the Wedding Anniversay episode of Fawlty Towers)has a flat in Priory Gardens.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Folkestone. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Folkestone.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
