Food
jubilee after a nite out at green man or maybe not if u dont wana be sick everywhere
potters bar is absalutely full of resturant so you will have a choice out of everything i always love pizza hut, they are all good but if you want a change go to the meze on high street go on the weekend and youll also get entertainment its fantastic.
The Oakmere is a miracle! The culinary delights are amazing, and the only problem is the recent sacking by the owners 'OUT & OUT' of the manager ARNIE LYE and the appointment of the caretaker manager 'MARK THE CONEHEAD'.
yes plenty, more than enough, in fact too many,
we probably need less takeaways and more barbers shops
McDonald.....the best.
The Silver Jubilee is the best takeaway by far, Mustafa is a legend around Potters Bar!!!!!
Papparazzi opposite Canada Life has lovely food, also Oakmere Pub & Restaurant and also the Duke of York (yes, it's still in PB!)
arrrrgh..... far far too many especially darkes lane
McDonalds on Darkes Lane, opposite side of the road to the station.
The Old Manor Restaurant, near the council offices in Wyllyotts Place.
favourite chicken and ribs..... uummmmmmmm forbidden donut! ! !
It has to be the Sea Shell fish and Chips, the best in the world.
The former Beefeater in the High Street which was on the site of the burned out Oakmere House has closed - and reopened as a smarter eating place, still owned by the same group...
"the Silver Jubilee which serves the finest after pub Kebabs" I used to go to school in PB and have seen the owner of the Silver Jubilee buying large amounts of dogfood in the Sainsburys by the station. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a dog though!
The Silver 'Jubbly' (or rather Jubilee) Turkish kebab shop/restaurant, fantastic after the pub and about the only place to get a late night drink!
The Sea Shell fish and chip shop. For many years, the BEST chippie in the world.
The Silver Jubliee (Jublee), likewise still the best Kebabs in the known world.
Far too many, some of dubious quality. Some groovy ones though, PB Tandoori, Meze, Dragon Garden or whatever it's called.
A boom place for a bit of munch is the Greek Village, it's in the square u know. As recommended by Hair and Long.
That Greek restaurant in the High St...The Meza or something...
Freakin' ace grub...
Best Chinese takeaway is Chong's Kitchen, on the Barnet Road.
Oakmere House. I wasn't impressed by the food but the house looks great and the service was good.
The Joyful Chines Restaurant has closed down and re-opened under a different name.
Oakmere House, Beefeater, very reasonably priced and excellent food. For take-aways try Chongs Kitchen, Barnet Road - superb chinese take-away with quality equalling that of chinatown.
Campbell's - great food and the most comfortable sofa in the world
Far too many restaurants. Quality of Potters Bar (a tandoori) is not of very high quality!
You haven't mentioned: The Joyful Chinese Restaurant, is the finest Chinese restaurant this side of Peking. The very poor Papillon restaurant bins. You're right about the Potters Bar Tandoori!
The two tastiest eating places are The Potters Bar Tandoori, which does the best Balti food in the world, and the Silver Jubilee which serves the finest after pub Kebabs.
Pubs
THE BRIDGE IS THE BEST, GIRLS COME MANY A NICE LAD THERE :p
Strafford Arms for cheap, good fun. Great food, nice fruities, TV etc
The Byng for typical Wetherspoon cheapness
Old Manor does the best food
Green man - great if your a local like me but somewhat daunting if your not!
Seamus - great if you maybe not old enough looking!
Byng - NO MUSIC NO POOL what do you call that?
pubs here are for teens and drunken wretches who smash shop windows on the way home as entertainment..........
bing sells cheap drinks the green man is more lively with lots of pool tables and strafford in cranbourne is good too especially on weekends
The oakmere once again is great! Once again tho the one known as MARK THE CONEHEAD may ruin ur night by trying to actually talk to you. He is the manager by the way.
the strafford arms is a great pub with Rizzo on thursdays and fridays
since they destroyed the potters, it has never been the same... sob..sniff...
I miss Aj's, Seamus' just is'nt the same!! Or maybe i've grown up!!
The Oakmere is lively on a Friday night, seems a bit more classy than the rest of em! Seamus (o'butchers??? wot's with that name?!!) is not bad too on a Friday, it's open till 1am, £3 to get in after 10.45 tho.
Green Man. Very good pub with many happy drunks. Dont be scared by the loud chap with the beard who looks a bit strange. He manages to sneek off later in the evening to be with his family. Approach him and ask to see his tattoos if he hasnt already shown you. Also ask him about a certain "Dream team" named after him (you can look on the wall and see for yourself if you like, its called Dion is a g** b**. Best not write it because I might be told off for having a personal grudge) You must all come in and mock the scouse landlord. He does enjoy it!
TO BRING THIS SECTION UPTO DATE. THE GREEN MAN PUB IN THE HIGH STREET POTTERS BAR NOW HAS A WELL ESTABLISHED DANCE MUSIC NIGHT WHICH I ATTEND EVERY SATURDAY EVENING.IT IS HOSTED BY DJ LA CREM, WHO IS NOW WELL KNOWN ON THE UNDERGROUND DANCE MUSIC CIRCUIT & THE NIGHT HAS GROWN QUITE A BIT IN THE RECENT MONTHS AND HAS A NICE FRIENDLY CROWD.
PEOPLE NOW COME FROM WELL OUTSIDE POTTERS BAR.
18+ only & no drugs policy.
> AJs has again shut down, why not put a Mcdonalds there, we need one badly
Strangely enough as predicted there is now a McDonalds restaurant and drive-thru!
> Wyllyots Manor has closed, but I believe it will be re-opening as a themed pub.
Re-opened as "The Old Manor" now, not so much pub as restaurant, and very impressive too (very reasonable prices also).
Byng is a typical Weatherspoons. Green Man OKish. Old Owens full of (legal) school children and old cricket players.
GREEN MAN! ! ! THAT SAYS IT ALL.
AJs has again shut down, why not put a Mcdonalds there, we need one badly
Wyllyots Manor has closed, but I believe it will be re-opening as a themed pub.
What about the Bridge? I was made most welcome there when on holidays from OZ.
The "Owens club-house" - allows "REMARKABLY young patrons" lawfully ;-), so long as you go to the school...
Just wanted to say the Strafford is not rough, i'm in there every Friday ans Saturday night, whoever wrote it is rough is obviously too young to drink and has never been there.
I think you'll find that th "Bricklayers" Arms mentioned is actually the Builders Arms! This Den of Iniquity can be found in Heath Road.
The Wyllyotts has to be the saddest pub mentioned!
The clientele are extremely youthful looking, particularly on a Saturday night!
That seems to be the only time anyone ever goes in there though.
AJs and The Strafford arms are a little 'rough'.
The Bricklayers' Arms is in Potters Bar, and its about the only decent pub in town. You can try Seamus O'Donnells for good Irish beer, but the best real ale pubs are oustide - like the Maypole in Water End...
A.J's is pretty good, it has changed names about ten times, but is doing o.k now
Correction of spelling - The Strafford Arms, The Bricklayer's Arms is not in Potters Bar
Duke O' York - no, it's in Potters Bar, not Barnet.
Hum. I remember when there was life on Darkes Lane! But it's all moved up to the High Street, unless you count Billies/Hearts/Whatever it's latest incarnation is. (opposite the station)
What about Willards Manor and the Green Man, they were good pubs were they not? And what about The Brickayer's Arms!?
The Stafford Arms used to be a dump; the Builders deserves a mention for it's Antipodean staff.
The best pubs are The Cask and Stillage, Green Man and the Stafford Arms.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
the cafe on the corner of darkes lane dont even no what its called but its nice thou
man you could eat to your hearts content here,we got loads of cafes and takeaways, and as an optional extra if you go to McDonalds at night, you can stare at the creeps who coagulate there,in their nylon clothing,as they assualt a youth for being black skinned. :o(
The only decent coffe shop is Starbucks,....but be warned the comfy chairs and outragiously priced coffees are very addictive and you may become a starbucks junkie like me! Buy a caramel frappachino.. or the new strawberry one is nice.....*drifts into a starbucks world*
Broadway Cafe on the corner of Darkes Lane, nice cafe, does a good jacket potato!! for an excellent fry up, Potters Bar Cafe and Restaurant in the Barnet Road is good.
there is now a Mcdonalds in potters bar, under the bridge,
