Computer and Games Shops

  • GAME, GAMESTATION, all have excellent sales people that are willing to help
  • game & all the rest of them
  • broad street mall in game
  • Woolies and game
  • Game, Cash converters, Pc world, Comet.
  • game in the oracle or electronices boutiques in ST marys butts both r as good as each other altho game is slightly more expnesive and electronics boutique has the handy option of selling second hand games and buying!
  • Gamestation and Game are probably the best shops. Theyre cheaper than places like HMV and Virgin
  • Virtual Games is sadley outside the town, in Tilehurst, not far from Tilehurst train station, VERY cheap games & hardware.
  • Gamestation is the best place, half way between Heelas and the station - the guys who run it are decent down-to-earth blokes who don't give you any of that 'can i help you sir?' crap when you're just browsing. The only place that does a proper non-rip off part exchange and second hand sales too, IMHO.
  • Magic: TG supported at 'The Trading Post' in the arcade by the Town Hall. Saturdays are very busy round the tables upstairs, with L5R regularly attracting even more players.
  • The Trading Post, Market Way (runs between Friar Street & Broad Street near Marks & Spencers). Board Games, RPGs, Magic:The Gathering, etc. Has upstairs room for Magic games available during day, usually easy to get a game if you have your deck with you. Virgin (in Broad Street Mall). HMV Games.

LAN Parties, Tournaments, LAN Game Cafes, WiFi Meets, PSP/DS Meets

  • RISC
  • the RISC up london street, has a good vibe also the iguana near the mall opposite st marys butts, oh the best baguettes are PIERRES!!!
  • cafe venue - it's proper bo.
  • ReadingLan (www.readinglan.com) runs LAN events during term time at the university, with 30+ attendies and PC rental provided by PlanB Gaming (www.planbgaming.co.uk). Currently only single day events, however there is a good mix of games and very friendly for first timers.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Reading. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Reading.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
