Food
The usual , apart from a KFC! Which we all crave in Salibury!
However Chick-O-Land is a superb alternative, very tasty and proper chicken too!
Ask is sopposed to be a good shop
well lots and lots to cater for all from cheap to expensive alpino is the best italian resteraunt there!!!
Mr T's is good, try Ask as well.
McDonalds,and other normal chains
Mr T's cafe. It is wonderful, the staff are so polite and fast like lightening!
No No to Woolworth's as they keep putting th eprices up, £1.45 for a titchy piece of cake!
Pizza Express is nice.
Only stuff like Burger King, MacDonalds e.t.c
Pizza Hut
Sadly, Mo's closed down some time ago and has been replaced by a Chinese takeaway.
Chutneys House of Savoury on Estcourt Road does take away curries. Absolutely fab, authentic and unusual. Best I've ever tasted.
Curry Masters - Takeaway The Asia - Fisherton St The Porton Hotel in Porton Village is under new management and they have reopened the restaurant - very nice and deserving of support in my opinion.
The Jade is very nice on Exeter St. Rather expensive though.
Of eateries, Mo's on Milford Street is a great bistro type place and Harpers in the Market Place is up-market and excellent.
[On the other hand...] Cheap, vegetarian sandwiches at health food store two blocks from the station.
A little greasy spoon near the station called, imaginatively the "Bacon Sandwich". Overdose on cholestorol like it was going out of fashion. This place leaves no stone unturned, in fact you will leave with several more than you came in with! Honestly though, great food from Matt the chef, of a nice basic variety with loads of style. My bacon bap was a monster!
Pubs
Deacons in Fisherton St
The Old Manor SociaL Club should be your first port of call on visiting Salisbury, IN
Wilton Road. This illustrious place is run happy Gordon who will be delighted to
welcome you with a beaming smile and generous hug, such is his gregarious nature.
Also Carol completes the cheerful carefree young atmosphere wiht her youthful looks
and jocular personality. Call in anytime and experience the carnival fun of Salisbury's premier night spot..
The Bird in hand which is in East Street used to be an Edwardian pub
The Rilway Taven up by the staion has two surving stables at the back, and is where Danny and Illon (our two horses) stayed after delivering beer to you thirsty lot. Worn out after pulling the drey, they were entitled to a beer or two.
The Swinging Cat tavern is where they play jazz, probably dates from 1800
There are many with a history eg: the Haunch of Venison was a brothel in 1700 and is one of Salisbury's oldest pubs with oak beams, and spooks.
Anchor & Hope - Winchester Street. Great atmos.
The haunch with it's mummified hand, not very handy that one.
The Haunch of Venison with the mummified hand in a glass case.
365 one for every day of the year
The Old Mill in Harnham is good for Summer. Lovley river setting.
Quite a few on the outskirts
The Chaugh, \Blue Boar Row
Cloisters, Salt Lane car park
Haunch of Venison
Best Pub for real ale is Deacons in Fisherton Street. The Vodka bar in the same street is also worth a visit.
Cafe Prague is really excellent. Moloko bar is not so good.
Lots of new pubs opening up. A bit pricey. Hop Back brewery still the best for good cheapish beer.
The Bull, Fisherton Street - Friendly pub, good beer & good food
Crown & Anchor - Exeter Street : GREAT PLACE. small, cramped, excellent atmosphere Will list loads more when I get away from work....
Salisbury has more pubs than anything else. The under age drinking is a problem in the town centre.
The Village (Wilton Road near the roundabout). Excellent for real ale. Also known as Sausage Station.
There are loads of pubs and a high proportion of these are good or excellent: try the Wyndham Arms on Estcourt Road (home of the Hopback brewery), the Wilton near the railway station, the Oddfellows Arms on Milford Street, the Deacons Alms on Fisherton Street (is there still a blues jam session on Thursdays?). The Haunch of Vennison is worth a look just for the incredible interior.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
Footlights cafe at the arts centre - will deliver too!
Mr T's is an excellant place for a cup of tea, great prices. You can ride in our horse and drey afterwards to work it off.
cyber cafe,Fisherton mill cafe,snells
Cross keys: Lovley place to sit and dates from 1400, lurve the cheesecakes.
