Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains

  • Zara in the Glades is my favourite and River Island is good as well. Ignore Base, opposite River Island, becuase it is just a poor imitation. You can get all the good stuff somewhere else.
  • Well if your a little pikey with no sense of style, you've got jjb and first sport in the glades, jd sports and all:sports on the high street, if however your not a complete retard, there are a few decent shops in the glades like river island
  • Nobody wears clothes in Bromley, It is a conservative Borough
  • gotta say i dont shop for clothes in brom much there are a fiew things worth looking at in oneals but being a brand name its kinda costy you can get band shirts in most music shops realy but if you get there in a sale a good place for demi smart clothes is petrolium although getting trousers over a certan length is kinda tricky
  • you would rather go to lewisham and get the clothes you want in glades half price.
  • Too many over-priced designer shops - if you want to spend £60 on a t-shirt just coz its got armani written on it then go for it.I think thats valuable beer money !!!!
  • Glades. THEYRE EVERYWHERE but its worth goin past JDD Sports next to the glades 2 look @ all the pikey ppl lookin at new style nike caps 2 put at 90 degree angles on their heads.
  • Many clothes shops with a wide range
  • very few worth mentioning -- all the normal high street rubbish -- good for the under 14's and over 40's
  • Mad Mike's Army Store. Good army surplus shop in Lee Green, which isn't in Bromley but only 10 minutes on the 261 bus towards Lewisham.
  • Some quality clothes shops in the Glades i.e, French Connection, Jones. Makes a nice change from the hassle of the tourist trap of Lakeside.
  • Young people in Bromley are the offspring of general South Londoners 'made good'. They are fashion sheep, obsessed with 'designer' labels, but who don't put much imagination into their dress sense. Therefore, the lads are an army of various coloured Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker and YSL shirts (very creative), while the girls are an army of various coloured flowery devoré Karen Millen skirt-suits. No wonder they all end up working for Churchill Insurance
  • Skate City. The Glades has stuff like a Levis Store. Loads of others, but unless you live in Bromley it's not worth a special journey, because most of the surrounding towns have similar places. The Glades has quite a few expensive clothes shops, but there are also branches of BHS, C and As, and a very large Marks and Spencers.

Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)

  • generally find it is better to go up to london for art supplies, however Lidl has proved a bit of a hit and miss goldmine! Bromley charter market, open on Thursday AM, is pretty good for fabrics, with impressively low prices.
  • Dulwich Art gallery although best to get on that train and pop to Tate (both Modern and Britain), National Gallery, National Portrait, ICA (Pall Mall), any gallery at Cork Street and also take a wander through the east end, as galleries are popping up all the time
  • "art for all" near the bromley cinema
  • modelling kits military
  • arts and craft market in the high street on certain days, a few arty shops in the glades
  • There are now to good craft shops in the mall..Selling wooden carvings and joss sticks :)
  • That new craft market hasn't been mentioned yet, so I thought I'd say something about it - it's quite good really! Its only around on weekends though!
  • The Pier in the Glades is good for unusual gifts or furnishings for the more arty person. They stock fine selections of glassware and wicker.
  • The 'Hippy Stall' situated in the Bromley Mall is a market stall selling a vast range of goods such as candles, beads, clothes and useful little tapestry books, good for writing poetry in.
  • Bromley Central Library usually have displays of local exhibitors' paintings and photographs.

Magazine and Comic Shops

  • Time trek. opposite gamestation at the bottom of the high st.
  • Urban Chaos stock Sidewalk and Document.
  • the one place to go would be time trek so unbelevably over stocked with manga and american early issues that the average manga nerd would kill for some of the merchendise
  • Try Time Trek for the cult stuff.
  • A Star Trek-inspired store has opened in the Glades (by Virgin Megastore)
  • Time Trek also sell load of sci-fi stuff. Look in MVC for Manga videos.
  • Time Trek, near Bromley South. They stock Japanese comics, lots of US comics and magazines as well as action figures, models, T-Shirts and other collectables...

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Bromley. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Bromley.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
