Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
Urban Outfitters in Temple Bar is great, so is Fresh (also Temple Bar) and Asha in Stephens Green Centre.
I get most of my stuff online. www.myboardshop.com is a good enough place to start.
Hammerheadz Greystones
Purple Haze, Flip, Se Si - Temple Bar
George's Arcade
Cult on George Street
All the usual suspects are here, save a few but once again head into Temple Bar for loads of hippy clothes. The main shopping area is Grafton Street, St. Stephens Green Shopping centre and Henry Street, and also off Grafton Street-specialist shops. There are a few new shopping centres out of town eg.Blachardstown, Liffey Valley and the Square
New Designer Shop for 20 somethings with bags of money called BT2 on Grafton Street.
Anywhere around 'Temple Bar' area for street fashion, and Grafton Street shops for usual store stuff. Also Henry Street. Skate City, Crown Alley; and Makulla's, bottom of Grafton Street. (A bit overpriced).
Makullas (too expensive), Temple bar, George's street Arcade, Hobo and Sabotage (Exchequor street) are pretty cool for sk8 stuff.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
Merrion Square on Sundays in the summer - local artists stick their work on the park railings and sell to passers by. Great atmosphere.
Try Powerscourt Townhouse (can't remember the name of the street but it's signposted off Grafton Street) for some lovely arty crafty shops (some quite pricey though).
Taylor Gallery- good art. Kilkenny Design Nassau Street-tweeish, but good range of , crafts
George's Street arcade has cool stuff sometimes.
Magazine and Comic Shops
Pick up the local free student magazine "Mongrel" in Tower Records on O'Connel street or Di Fontaines pizza in temple bar, absolutely hilarious.
Alex's has mags (near Dun Laoighre shopping centre)
The address given for Forbidden Planet was on Dawson ST. They moved years ago. They are now on Crampton Quay.
There is another good comic shop besides Forbidden Planet called Sub-City. It's on Exchequer Street (off Wicklow Street).
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Dublin.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Dublin.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
