Record Shops
sho'nuff has been killed off by HMV - the bastards!!!
hmv
sho'nuff, now on abbey street
support the indie as those HMV bastards have killed off the others!!!!
shonuf - the wee record shop at the top of main street, its great! better service than shitty HMV which jus opend dwn the hill from it!
HMV is crap. They take orders from customers and then can't get them in until months after every other shop has already got it.
sho nuff leads the way in friendly service ! and you can get concert tix there too
belfast.
Mixmaster is now open, not too bad,not too good either, its full of old music but if u want some up to date records ur gonna have to venture up 2 belfast im afraid
HMV IS GOOD AND WOOLIES
sho'nuff the dude in there is so dead on
HMV
HMV OR GOLDEN SHOP
hmv has every thing u need.
hmv
does anyone remember stevie's rock n pop shop down high street?
new hmv opening should be good...
the 1 in flagship is good
underground music in high street
Big Steve in Sho'Nuff on Main Street. For all your music needs...
Golden discs are a ripp off. Underground music have a giant bannana.sanity in Broomfields as the Jackie in Jasmine House says (very good chinky - the best in bangor).
easily sho'nuff on main street is the best in bangor. if steve cant get it - then it cant be got!!! plus a good range of books and guitar accessories - wicked!
has anyone else noticed that every sale on our price has the same garbage 2.0 albums that it has had for the last 4-5 years?
golden disks da fck
UnderGround Records
definitely harrison
Cosmos is usually a well known record store, or is it????????????
Golden discs in the flag ship.
the one beside flagship centre cark park +it has old 1's like elvis +madonna but nobody knows he sells new cds 4 a fiver each!!
this isnt really a record shop-well its not at all but have u seen that there is now 5 card shops on main street alone!!!FIVE-why?????and in flagship no less than 4 phone shops and since Argos sells fones say 5!then across the road from the entrance is car phone warehouse, is there any need????
On your web-site, which is real cute!, you don't mention the best record shop that Bangor ever had, which was Musique, which then became Harrison-Musique........you could get anything you wanted, plus a babe on a Saturday afternoon,......staff were cool, and even the owner, baldy Jerry was a walking encyclopedia of music........top rate shop, man!!
Sho'Nuff in Main Street is a cool new music shop. The guy who works there really knows his stuff, and if he doesn't have it in stock, is more than happy to get it for you. If he can't get it for you, it is simply no longer in existence. Nice bloke too.... his website is http://www.shonuff.co.uk
jungle records, across from sk8
Kosmos Records, great for picking up the latest dance from 1990
Kosmos and Underground and also Sho-nuff. The only fucking decent record shops in Bangor
underground!!!
a shop thats sells hms pinnifor albums like and cheap fegs
Kosmos records is fuckin' excellent. The best record shop in Northern Ireland by far. Steve the owner is an absolutely top bloke- really helpful and really interested in and knowledgeable about the type of music he sells (as I am, excellent breakbeat, abstract, jazz, funk and old skool hip hop soundz). It is not just about making a profit. I am a DJ living in Glasgow and still Kosmos is among my favorite record shops in Britain. Underground, on the other hand is too much of a mish mash and I don't feel the staff have any real interestor knowledge in music and it is simply for a profit. It is also very badly up to date with most of the vinyl stopping at 1998 releases. In Kosmos on the other hand it is cutting edge with real groundbreaking, underground names and labels that underground over the road does not have. Underground music mainly sells five -fifteen year old borderline commercial floor fillers. It's a bit shit really. Also Paul from underground DJ's in the Boom Boom Room, the shittest and most cheesiest club in the world playing commercial 44 house bollocks. He is also not very polite. Steve in Kosmos on the other hand is a really nice bloke who knows his stuff. KOSMOS IS A DEFINATE MUST.
MTM Gone, Yippee,
ourprice mmmmm yes it is thier price cos no one else would charge so fuckin much so sumthin so shite
Underground music my favourite shop, just because it's got all the underground metal CDs that the commercial big chain stores refuse to sell
MTM. Flagship...... Rumour has it that the shop closed because "an undisclosed amount" of money went missing in the New Year. How do I know? I am a regular in Wolsey's bar of course. Why does that matter? Well.... A member of staff who had worked in MTM for a year or two got, how shall we put it, plastered. He told me that he nicked it... Why should you care? Well, I know the guy you see, and aswell as parading as a Christian, a rap fan AND a ladies man.... He's also a thief!!!! Why did he do it? He had apparently borrowed money off an old bloke, and couldn't pay it back.... What should you do now? If you see this little prick, punch his stupid looking, Ali G impersonating face.... and tell him that YOU know his secret.... The truth is out there.
thank god mtm died and disappeared, shame the staff didn't, avoid the pub quiz at wolseys from the same wolly eared prick, craig
Underground music always has great house and trance tracks. So keep "IT LIT"
Well... you'll be glad to know that MTM has actually closed. I really hated the way that some of the staff were so rude to us every Saturday. I only ever got on alright with Ed... The rest suck the big one...Especially the one with the long hair...Fuckin' SPASTIC!
Underground record shop. Its rulin
Underground Music-hot
Undergruond - big shout to paul, alright Bert.
underground music not bad high street. mtm suck dick they charge £60 for n64 games
A spot on record shop is Kosmos. It has NO CD's that anyone has ever heard of and it is beside the shitest Barbers in the world Cortes, go there if you want to look like an asshole.
MTM in the flagship - pack of wankers.
MTM is a rip off and a complete bag of shite
Underground is OK, 'specially 4 vinyl fans, Kosmos is also kosher, Steve'll do you a good deal if he knows your a proper music fan. AVOID More Than Music, it's shit and really really jippo, a complete cackers shop. Our Price can be counted, but only if you have a lot of wonga.
Only good ones - Underground, for everything, and Kosmos, for more or less everything - hows it going Steve?
ourprice is great the staff r so sound!!!!!!
Check out underground and wee Paul will sort you out with a load of top tunes
I would like to post a notice in reference to the Glory Days of revival records, my elder brother (MC Fire) used to be the proprieter and manys a Saturday afternoon was spent in here dealing with stenchers (2 lit, combats, dog on a rope)and stopping goths from topping themselves over the size of the JandMC collections. To this very day the Revival sign still represents a young entrepeneurs foray into the world of 2nd hand Bowie LP's.
There is hope
Mark
Is Revival Records still there?
MTM with their rip-off Playstation games
Underground, It gives me PLEASURE!(Even though there is steeky music sometimes.)
Kosmos (Bingham Street (Back of Flagship Centre)) Small but packed to the roof
Underground (High Street)All sorts - Dance/Rock/DJ equip. etc
Kosmos and Underground Music found in Bingham and High Street respectively. These are cool shops which usually have whatever you are looking for. Unfortunately there is far too much steeky shite being sold as it is all one can hear on sunny summer evenings in town.
Underground is the best for vinals in Bangor
Underground for records and local DJ CDs.kosmos but...dont go there its a hole.
Kosmos, just off High Street - good old skool hip hop
Underground, High Street - good indie
There's an Our Price in the Bloomfield Centre, Kosmos Records at the bottom of High Street - opposite The Boom Boom Room...people in Underground Music can be quite arrogant at times - (by the way, the owner of Underground -Paul Murray - used to own Paul's chip-shop on Queen's Parade)...
There aren't any big chains. Plastic Passion is good for collectors stuff. Underground music has been in the NME; it's a packed little shop with loads of indie music and Dance (its speciality). Go out the back door of the Flagship Centre to find it. MTM is in the Flagship Centre. Although independant it's like any medium sized shop. But check the other two first - they tend to be cheaper.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
dont go to the primacy its cack or bar 15 its worse get a rarry out and party on in the privacy of you on home
mocha
Ahh the ecstatcy you feel when you walk through those black doors to heaven on earth , Mint on a Saturday night, it doesn't get much better. Fuck the beach club, going to a place with unfimilar faces and an expensive taxi home.
I have been goin to cafe/mint for a few months now, and they are really getting some good DJ's playing there these days it's on it's way up e.g. Jeremy Healy a night to remeber, shapshifters overated but not bad, and Pete Snodden is a pretty good resident DJ I liek the stuff he plays.
The 2 main bouncers on a saturday night aren't to bad, the blonde one hair is sound, and the ohter guy Jonny I think is dead on though on big nights strict on who he lets in, he didn't let me in one night! I was not amused I ended up in that shit hole Mocha jesus what a god awful place.
"PUT YOUR FUCKIN HANDS IN THE AIR BANGOR"
Lets just be honest here if Bangor had not got the heavy handed bouncers(doormen)and the rash of police helping then out of trouble are into it then more people would start going back into bangor The doormen have been given a free hand to really run all venues ib Bangor and beat up anyone who does not agree
MY Barrrrrr for the legendary Millars Kareoke on a Saturday night.
dancing through linear park , drinking at the weekends !!
Rollerama (with Root Beer, no less!)
Karaoke on a Saturday night in The Tavern is absolutely class, theres a fella that usually gets up and sings a few songs called Paul, he is remarkable, he should be in the TOP 10
Wolseys for allowing me to prop the bar up on a daily basis
Paradox under the bryansburn, good pussy!
Mocha - Love It
ashbury has claimed the paradox at bryansburn inn as there official reunion bar. every21st and 18th has been done here almost and iwould recomend it to anyone! the dj plays wat u want and u can make tickets so the select few can enter. ill c them all back there in august 2006 for my 21st!!
Im more of a Belfast clubber meself, Milk all da way, but i do lik Cafe on a monday, and der is da fittest blonde girl wrkin der tht goes 2 bangor tech i think.
bangor bay inn
Bar Mocha, dead on apart from the Joc doorman nobody seems to understand!
Dead on apart from thes ho's torturing the doormen, you know who i mean
Drunken Scumbags with fringes!
Crazy dancing dwarfs.
top floor of bar 15 were all the k-ranchers about 10 run about on a friday nite
Cafe ceol is the best! It is classy, un like mocha which is just full of steeks lately! Get it sorted
the tavern bar has really impoved with the addition of karaoke on saturday's and good music and fun,60's,70's,80's and dance just ask and it's played.try this bar from now on the crack is great and the music good.
They are all shite. Although I did meet my true love in Wolseys 1994.
The greatest spot in Bangor USED to be the BoomBoomRoom, my friend and i used to always go to it, we were well know regulars. We waited AGES for these "amazing" renovations not knowing where to go and having to go the Beach Club. On opening night, myself and friend trooped down to "Mint" (god awful name) expecting to see what they have done to the good old boomers. We que'd for ages waiting to get in...we were spotted by a bouncer who knew us..and rather than telling us back in the q he let us wait until we were right infront of him and we got a "Sorry, not tonight lads". We were raging, especially with that ejjit Connel floating about behind him.
I daresay we were raging. The a float the talk down the town that night of what others were told...no sorry its 21's tonight no sorry its 24's tonight. Then further more, more rumours speculate that its going to be an EXCLUSIVE venue. Then from the own bouncers mouth one wednesday night we went down....its going to be 20-ish but regulars get in free! Like WTF!!
And on that wednesday night we went for student night.....Oh my god...the place has been ruined. The decor...oh my i thought i was in Mocha...the music? mocha again...with occasional chart dance songs and some mocha oldies. And wheres Greame Brown? the rumors speculate they wouldnt pay him for a Sat night! They spent so much money in that place and its gone to waste in my opinion.
Bring back our old dark club with the superior awesome beats and the mixing of Greame Brown, now he was a good Dj. My two cents from a Boomers lover! Let me know where i can find good dance beats in a nice environment without wanna b gangsters. Wat mate like!
The BETS...not another as good!!
OH MY GOD NO MORE BOOM BOOM ROOM..OUR WORLD HAS ACTUALLY ENDED, NO MORE RAVIN BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN OUR SAUSAGE DAYS FROM BANGOR FISH COMPANY HAVE TO END!! WE'LL MISS YOU BOOMERS REST IN PIECE...YOU HAVE GIVE US SOME INTERESTING BUT CLASS MEMORIES.
Bangor's nightlife is a non-starter, if u want dance music u might get lucky in Bar 15 upstairs. The cafe is crap, especially since they told all their loyal 18-19 year old patrons to f**k off and told them they weren't good enough for the venue anymore, major f**k up on their part, they're still struggling and have reached an all time low to try to get they're old cunstomers back
BAR 15, BAR MOCO(BOOM BOOM ROOMS) MUST BE OVER 18 TO GET IN ANY OF THESE
There is only one place worth mentioning about Bangor, Cafe Ceol on a monday night. Its pure amazing (half price wine night) especially when the overseas students are home. Fuck everywhere else any other night of the week. Just go to Belfast.
balls to boom boom, wolseys, and all the rest of the shite clubs..THE BARN was the place to be on a friday and saturday night..a heddy mix of hoods(proper ones, not these wannabe 15yr olds!)and hippies all getting along just bloody fine!
bar mocha on a friday night is possibly the best night out you will find in bangor
We need a gay/lesbian bar/club in Bangor, summat thats not as camp as the Kremlin in Belf.
up the tavern its shite
FLIRTTTTTT!!! ITS CLASS
boom boom room
dont listen to all the hipe about 'club maund', its a shed in maunders back garden with a few christmas tree lights
whatever happened 2 the garage? above the penny whistle. Christ how long have i been away?
WOLSEYS HAS TO BE DA BEST!!!! ALL THOSE FIT YOUNG LADIES-OOOOOHHH YES!!!
flirt formally known as the boom boom room....fit fellas and sum god hardcore beats
RIGHT I WORK IN THE BOOM BOOM ROOM WITH ALL MY MATES....4 ALL U PPL MOUTHIN OFF BOUT THE BOOM BOOM ROOM....FAIR ENUF...IT HAS GONE DOWN IN THE PAST YEARS A LOT...BUT IT STILL IS RENOWNED 4 ITS HARDCORE BEATS....IT HAS STARTED 2 BRING IN MORE CUSTOMERS....MAYBE IT WILL NEVER GET BACK UP 2 THE STANDARDS IT USED 2 BE...BUT I RECKON HALF OF U LOT WHO ARE SLABBERING ACTUALLY COME IN EVERY WEEK...ITS STILL MAKIN A HELL A LOT OF BUSINESS......THERE ARE NOW IBIZA DANCERS 4 ALL U LADS WHO WANT 2 SIT AND DROOL OVER THE GIRLS IN FURRY BOOTS AND THONGS...4 THE GIRLS A HANDSOME SEXY DARK HAIRED FELLA....IF U DONT LIKE IT FCUK AWAY OFF 2 BELFAST....COURSE THEY GONNA HAVE BETTER CLUBS ITS THE CAPITAL 4 GODS SAKE,FAIR ENUF BANGOR IS A SHITHOLE....EVEN I KNOW THAT BUT I RECKON THE BOOMERS IS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES 2 BE ON A SAT NITE WITH OFFERS LIKE 5 DRINKS 4 A FIVER...WAT MORE DO U WANT!!!!!
Wolseys upstairs (now called Cuba) is pretty good if a bit dark. They do good cocktails though. The strawberry daiquiris are to die for dahlink...
Bar mocha in the Marine Court Hotel. Staff are very friendly.
Bar mocha all the way
boomers is still good apart from 1 of the bouncers, the boxer 1!!!! loves himself
bbR
Just to update you all the old "Calico's" has been renovated into the new and very lush Bar Mocha. The decor is class, the music ace (bit of dance, R&B and funky stuff)and best off all, they have got rid of all those horrible bouncers from before. The new Doormen are nice and helpful and so not sleazy (breath of fresh air)! Honestly a great place too go now that Cafe is just too young!!! Mixed age group definitely a bonus.
wolseys - always lots of fun. penny whistle for a quieter night
Boom Boom Rooms is the only decent club in Bangor apart from the bankrupting prices, but the music is the craic.
lol i know im one of them, i love getting blocked on a saturday, the crapest club is the boom boom room it is shit
ammmmmm that 1 near the library or youthclub cfc in newtownards
wolseys is getting better but only upstairs, cant wait 4 calicos to reopen!and wats happened to windsor upstairs, any one like to say?
THE BOUNCER IN THE BBR MIGHT B FAT & BALD BUT COME AND HAVE A GO IF U LIKE EATIN THROUGH A STRAW YA FUCKWIT ASSHOLE
Has to be Wolseys, started going back after 10 years, fucking magic
Cafe Ceol on a Friday nite may be a bit naff to be honest! but if you head upstairs to the VIP room then all is well. The resident DJ has a limited repetoir but who cares, when you're a true cafe goer then you will welcome the same set every week, makes u feel like part of the furniture! If its a bit of QFX or a perhaps 'Hey! whats goin on?' you're looking for then head down, you'll always have a good nite at cafe...not just coz the music is a hoot but coz the talent running around is spectacular..i think that its an unwritten rule that a certain level of attraction must be found in you before the bouncers will let u upstairs...so no mingers here thankyou very much!! and a very very small minority of millies and steeks...all in all its quite a pleasant experience! Look out for the guy from the Gino Geneli ice cream adverts from years ago...he goes here!
Salvation army
Upstairs in Wolseys is packed every week with hot up-for-it "fresh-faced" totty. Other places are simply crap at the moment...
The Boomers is the place to be to dance like an eedjit and steek it up mightily...and no-one cares!! its also great for picking up that oh so trendy black eye at the end of a well trashy night.
For the over 12's the Windsor is the place to be, but be warned they are strict on this policy of 12+, alternatively you can wear white pvc or anything generally tacky looking...the bouncers are perverts and always an easy pull!! knock yourself out!!
Joy at the clandeboye lodge (or as everyone still calls it the GEORGE)on a saturday night is pretty good, as you can have both a bar atmosphere and the club, and once you have paid in you can come and go as much as you want between the bar and the club!!
Play @ boom boom room. Pay £7 to see graeme brown when you can pay £10 to see Tiesto a few miles up the road at lush!!!
Woolseys beats The BOOM BOOM ROOM hands down in every department especially as my friend kenny DJs there. Dont worry he doesnt play dance music
um mr jardines mummys bed room is a good place
BRING BACK THE MATINEE CLUB, HAVENT HAD MY FACE PUNCHED IN FOR NO REASON SINCE IT CLOSED
Wolseys is the bestest place to go on a sat nite f u like ur women especialy fresh faced ( wink wink )
Charlie Heggartys, think thats how it's spelt, anyways it was the best club at the time apart from Circus Circus. Many's a night spent in there then off to a mad shed in Carrowdore, spelt wrong too.
i wud like to say that as a frequent resident at the boom boom room i like it- where in bangor can u honestly say is better for music or talent? plus whoever it was asking about the energy 106 dancing on a monday night? i wudnt go if i where u- was apartof all that for about 6 months- the owner is a real rip off STAY AWAY! i dance for another dance cmpany in bangor we are called infinite dance- new up and coming, we will rule!!!!!!!!!!! just a bit of advice for ya ;-)
some one should go into the rose and chandler and club the ugly, fat girls that hang out there on the prowl looking for meat
PLAY is a great club, previously the shite boom boom room. If its an easy shag ur after then go and enjoy the plentiful supply of slappers. I do.
good its like a youth club
Boom Boom Rooms used to be great. Under the superior direction of Dave Pache it and Bangor were thriving at one time. The Boom Boom was lively, adult, well run, sexy, respected and took All Ireland Club of the Year 3 times under Pache! Studio 54esque. Whats happened it and whats happened Bangor? Bring back Dave Pache to run the Rooms and Bangor!
The Boom Boom Room was the best club in Northern Ireland run by the best manager in Ireland namely Dave Pache. When he left, BANGOR lost a good ambassador and the Boom Boom Room has been shite ever since. The new management haven't a clue and their efforts show in the age group, the cleanliness, the god awful theme nights etc. The moral of the story, Dont give a boy a mans job.
THE BOOM BOOM ROOMS OK APART FROM THE FAT MESS OF A SO CALLED BOUNCER THAT STANDS ON THE STAIRS AT THE DJ BOX ALL NIGHT!! HE THINKS HES HARD BUT MY GRANNY WOULD BE ABLE TO BEAT HIM IN A FIGHT WITH BOTH HANDS TIED BEHIND HER BACK.
CLUB MAUND is brilliant!! Trust me I am the founder. Anyone can cum especially if the CROW has anything to do with it. DJ Hags-me-lags spins the huge tunes every Saturday night in Club Maunds 'THE CROWS NEST'. Then there is always the after party where I the owner spin off a selection of chill out tunes to wind down the weekend. Everyones welcome though be early as there is a capacity of 8 people 5 of which have to be girls!!
"Club Maund"!! Its the best club around! With local DJ's such as DJ Pricers and DJ Chivs spinning those wheels of steel, pimping out the beats!! Long Hard work has gone into getting "Club Maund" up and running again after relocating about a year ago. Great work was put into the establishment by the management, particulary Maundo Maundiro!! Well Done mate! You must be a member to be allowed in, or be invited to the Club. A great Night out!! Hello to all the "Crew" you know who you are!!
The boom boom room is wank. I went back at christmas after being in edinburgh for 4 months and wondered how the fuck i ever coped. Its full of pre-pubescent millies from glenlola and that other crap girls school trying to act alluring while spilling hooch all down their miss selfridge gear. the boys(and I mean BOYS) are steeky motherfuckers who think a chat up line consists of 'reet love'. Take my advice MOVE
Hey, what the fuck has happened to Bangor, it seems to get worse everytime Igetv home from unim- and there is zero male talent
aye leik windsor commercial klub leik and check out the boom boom room 4 overrated shit - foam party dont make me laff 2inches of fairy liquid more like
Would everyone please give it a rest with the slagging off. If you don't like Bangor go else were. Personally I like the Boom Boom Room, but to say there is no posers or assholes in it is going a bit far, 1 question those who claim they'd need 2 be dragged in, what's with the big analysis of the place if you have never been in. The majority of the people there are rakers, just pissheads who want to go out and have a laugh. The talent is fine. 1 more thing though the girl who claimed the doormen in calico's are really nice, yeah right, obviously next on the list for a session with Danny in the toilets. Really they are dicks, apart from Ricki the bouncer who does the windsor as well (i know that from my underage days honestly) seriously though for a really good nite go to kelley's in portrush or belfast.
Boom Boom Room is full of pretenious bastards they just don't know it but watch out if you disturb their hairstyle they'll go mental after probably spending 2hrs on it. The foam nights are shit the foam goes up to about knee height and u have to battle to get underneath the foam. Wolseys is full of hippies who think they're brillaint even the young ones who go in about 6:30 when the bouncers aren't on the doors yet. Windosor is for 15yr olds and is a steakyhole.
Calicos has it's moments though the bouncers are wankers. The best thing to do is head up to Belfast The M club or shine. Want a really good night Lush in Portrush.
Club Maund will be out of action due to renvation
The Windsor is MAD AS FOCK FER FOCKS SACKE LIAKE. JONTY MC FOCK SAYS 'WHYAIIIII'
Boom Boom Room is absolutley fucking shite. Plastic pint glasses, no space, shit theme nights, crap music, cocky wankers.
Go to Wolseys for a relaxed not give a shit night out. Music sucks and the women have beards but hey. Best of a bad bunch. Someone open a club that plays decent alternative music please.
Club maund For nonstop music and entertainment. no steeks, ivites only. bring your own drink and head to Bangor centre around 10:00.
clubbing in bangor is non existent . head to belfast because bangor is a hole full of filthy little scrags and steeky boy-racer ringo's. there isnt a good night to be had here unless you stay in and beat yourself blind!!
The Bangor Grammer Disco is always a good laugh with a shite DJ. it is held 3 times a year be sure not to miss out
The cafe is a must on Saturday nights
Have you been to Cafe Cake hole recently, shit, you dont even need pubic hair to get in any more, where's my rain mac?
Wolseys upstairs, very predictable Friday/Saturday night fare - ie that ugly bloke knocking out Grease and Starsky and Hutch theme! Haha! Boom Boom Room is alright, but is getting worse in terms of who goes there - more steeky bastards than ever B4! Calicos is also OK, but only if you can get past the ignorant fucks who call themselves 'doormen'. Jd's is crap - steer clear, and nowhere else springs to mind. Go to Belfast if you want variety and a better time.
What a joke! Boom Boom Room, if you like bad attitudes and fighting. Wolseys upstairs, if you like crap DJs and students, and Windsor upstairs, if 15 year old kids is your bag (Not you Dr Brown!!). Instead, make the short journey up to Lush at Kellys, for no nonsense, no attitude, friendly and vibrant clubbing. And loads of fit ladies!
I AM RESPONDING TO THE SLAGGING OFF OF THE BBR....AGAIN!! iT REALLY ISN'T THAT BAD AND I DO TAKE OFFENCE AT BEING CALLED A PRETENTIOUS ASS!! i HAVE A GOOD LAUGH THERE WITH MY MATES. YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE, JUST HAPPEN TO PREFER SOME OF THE OTHER HOLES IN BANGOR.... I LOVE IT! BESIDES THE TALENT CAN BE GREAT ESPECIALLY HALF OF MY MATES!! WHOEVER WROTE ABOUT THE BALD GUY BESIDE THE DJ BOX, I KNOW WHO YOU MEAN AND HE IS HILARIOUS!!! DANCE WITH IT!!! OH YEAH AND WHO THE HELL CAN'T SPELL PRETENTIOUS??
Allens bar _ I DON'T THINK SOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! The place is 1st Class shite!
I presume that all the comments slagging off the boom boom room, are coming from you steeky asses who are too trampy, gay, hippyish, steeky, to get in the door. You would be the ones who hang out in the 'car parks leek' on a Sunday night showing off your pink and yellow cars and have more money than sense. Thank God for dress codes so tramps like you can't get in!! We aren't pretentious we just don't like shopping in Oxfam and make an effort when we go out!!! Instead of slaggin' it off, give it a go in a few years when you are actually old enough!!! By the way pretentious asses like us also go to Wolseys, and really like it, but J.D's and the Windsor are just going too far!!
boom boom top spot calicos best 4 warmin up and unless ur a gay hippy avoid wolseys if ur young go to the windsor
boom boom room good? i hope that you don't actually believe that. if you do then i take it that you are one of the pretentious arses that frequent the establishment, thinking yourselves to be "cool". as a veterin of bangor drinking scheme (been going out since i was knee high to a grass hopper) i can honestly say that the only way that you would get me into the bbr would be to amputate my limbs, put me in a wheel-barrow and cart me in, and even then i would be kicking and screaming. i also know that they don't wash the glasses, so just think of that next time you hand over your extortionate charge for a discusting warm pint.
Who is the bird asking for of age blokes to attend Calico's? WE ARE THERE, we
just keep getting beat up by the bouncers who think we are taking the piss by
actually being the right age to drink. And anyway, you lot are about as
sociable as Adolf Hitler in a gay's rights rally.
J.D.s is the steek central of bangor, all the wee hard men hang out here and beat the shit out of you for no apparante reason apart from "u looked at them"
Are Energy 106 holding dance lessons in the Boom Boom Room on Monday nights? Can anyone go?
Birdland.....DJ Laughy......THANK GOD THAT PLACE GOT KNOCKED DOWN!!!
The Ministry of Sound chain will be opening Ireland's first 'superclub' on the site of the Main Street car park in the new year.
boom boom room- the club is great, how dare you say bad things about it. Its you people who are slagging it off just cause you can't get in.
Club Maund
Ask conway
Boom Boom Room - the only decent club in Bangor. The rest are shit (except Calicos + sexy 'DJ Danny' - but too crowded usually). Great mixing by BBRooms' Cliff McKay + Graeme Brown, but not too co-operative if you request a tune. Excellent dance talent there - Look out for 'the boiled egg guy' (bald guy who dances near the DJ box) and 'Adam Rickett' (blonde poser, but admittedly a sexy mover).
These are used down the sea-front for kicking the f*!#ing s@!+ out of people who wear shoes
JD's LIKE FOCK
For a very bad night out, The "Boom Boom Room," (Typical idea for a themed night- A Star Wars Night. How can It get worse than the "Boomer's" cardboard cutout C3P0, a game of Pod Racer and a Death Star poster that keeps on falling of the wall.) The prosicution rests.
Boom Boom Room - biggest and most popular
Windsor - steeky and underage
JD's - see Windsor but far far worse - don't even think about it
Wolseys - pretty good, a bit cheesy/disco but never gets packed any more
Paradox - over 21's (but you wont be turned away if you're 18
Calico Jacks - pirate theme bar - okay but VERY busy esp. on Saturday (no air.con. - ie you will die from the heat)
Boom Boom Room, a club for people who must have their heads shoved up their arses.
Calico Jacks' doormen are the nicest guys around and I think you should update that. They really are. I agree with the windsor bits though so leave them.
Connect Rules !!! Go DJ JIM McCarten
Nine Iron
THE BLU OISTER
The Steek Hole (The Bassment)
Boom Boom Room and others near it.
Wolseys, Boom Boom Room, JD's (Formerly the Royal), The Windsor, The Lava Lounge (Upstairs Jenny Watts).
Avoid the Windsor like you'd avoid tonguing an incontinent pensioner's anus, bar-staff are first-class pricks - if you don't believe me try it for yourself - you'll be sorry...the Royal (owned by the same bloke) is good if 14 year old girls are your thing...the Royal gets the "dregs" (i.e the people who couldn't get in anywhere else)...
The Boom Boom Room - new, glam and expensive (brings the style of Manchester, London and Dublin to Bangor, apparently). Pubs and clubs are the big asset of the town. The Royal (lights on the roof make drivers crash!), Woolseys, Cafe Ceole all have brill Bars downstairs and Disco's upstairs. Except Cafe Ceol, which has the Boom Boom room. All open till 1am. Free in downstairs, 2 or 3 quid upstairs. The Royal is for young millies (local slang for townies), Woolsies is more wooly umper and dreadlocks. Boom Boom is over 21. The Royal Disco is a hole, but decent Skank. The Penny Whistle is the same idea as the Royal. Go to the Royal to scope Skank, and Woolsies for a relaxed night out.
Live Music Venues
wollseys is full of weird ones shout out on a sat beside the christie boppers sing a song and get a free tea

satans ring is a great place to hang out cause famous bangor death metallers satans puke have been known to hang out.
Rathgill Community Hall will be hosting world famous metal band - Satans Puke's, farewell concert soon.
wolseys : apparently Snow Patrol are doing another set !
fieltys
CHURCHS
Avoid The Windsor like the plague, the management haven't a clue about Music never mind the running of a bar. And sarcasm is not humor when it is at the expensive of your customer it's just plain rude. Check out Donegans on High Street they have their music policy spot on. A great band on Saturday nights and an indie DJ on Fridays, it beats all that pop and dance crap played elsewhere. And if you get bored you can always pop next door to the Jenny Watts.
hamilton house haha!
Wolseys has bands sometimes but the best place is the oddesy belfast
the c.f.c warehouse in newtownards is kool for local bands. friday nights £3 to get in. NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED WHATSOEVER (i know cos they take it all away when u try to sneak it in)
go to hamilton house and see all the hippies shake there heads and look like prats!
Hamilton house
odyssey arena...huge!!
hamilton house (sometimes!!!)
Wolsey's have the mighty Flange Band on a Thursday night. These guys rock. Most of them even got the name of the band tatooed on them somewhere. Nutcases. Wolseys also do acoustic on a Sunday with Ken Haddock of the Empire in Belfast fame. He's pretty good when he isn't far too loud. Dodgy guests though...
The rose and chandlers
Clubb R, what i would give to remember a single night in there.
Yeah Bangors got loads of those.....the salvation army band in the sunken gardens is real groovin in the summer
Suff and nonesense Wosleys has provided good old background bar music and live bands for years. The Shakey Brown Blues Band plays there frequently to a packed and drunken audience. If you want real chart rubbish go to the BBR!
party on da peir
Wolseys have started doing live music again with a very entertaining band on Thursday nights. They also have a fiddly-dee sort of band on a Wednesday but I haven't seen them yet...
wolseys
Callico Jacks. Wolseys. Both ok but need an image transformation.
CLUB MAUND every weekend night. The ESSENTIAL START TO THE WEEKEND!
Ummm - Wolseys downstairs Thursday night? The Crown, Jenny Watts, Fealtys(!), no decent bands ever seem to come here.
End of the pier
Go to Belfast. Gryos for industrail, goth, 80's and to see people gettin' it on outside, The Limelight is also good depending on band.
Calico Jacks and Wolseys, although the later is run by a complete tool ( stronger language could have been used!! ).
The Boom Boom Room for seventies comeback bands. Wolseys for the best of local talent.
Wolsey's plays host to some up-and-coming bands at certain times of the month, sometimes good, rarely bad...
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
