Hook-up Spots (That hallowed spot where everyone hangs around with their mates dreaming of the time when they can get into the pubs or clubs - a bench, a corner: you name it.)
Myself and many of my compadres from school used to enjoy budget-priced white cider in Chickenwood (sp?) Park. We all enjoyed the breathtaking view of council estates, chemicals factories and a run down docks as we threw up ma's tea onto badly council-maintained grass. Oh my heart years for those halycon days.
well...for 'the nicer parts' (if there is any) u cud always hang round outside thw londis in cwm talwg - theres a wall!=-0! obviously theres the memo (every month, i hear they have some new (tonsil) tennis courts there) it'z just fantabulouse 2 get drunk with every1 and go down they still let u in but beware u r no longer allowed chewing gum or 2put ur feet on the walls(?) so just hide it down ur clevage.
I find Vere street is a good hang out, loads of smack heads there always trying to rob you to feed their habbit. Then there's the Addy which is always good for a laugh and a beating.....
BARRY MEMO! a load of barry 'youth workers' letting pissed children in to be sick on eachother. I used to go in drunk every week when I was 14 and nobody minded
would now have to be king square
Your web page is enough to persuade me never to return to my home town.
It's not what one would consider to be a good advertisement for Barry.
there's a new night spot now called the ezee's but it very nice the power station has gone so has quids inn ththe favorite place now is on the fountains on king square, where they all like to shout abuse text smoke and drink.
Gladstone Park....dont go there after dark!
we are local teenagers and would like to say a few words. we drink cheap cider coz we like it and the fact that it is cheap!and how would you know if we were eminem wannabes if u haven't got the decency to even smile, but give dirty looks? we r nice!
the knap was a good place to hane until sad slappers (emma and her clan) turned up
Alexandra Gardens off Jenner RD when kids like Steaks,Burgess(snr),Mafia,Bush,Anton,Gob,Coxy,Taffy,Concy,Bizzy,Stan,Bags the bone,Gremlin,Craig T,Spudy,Liz Jeeves,Sarah Burgess,Weasel,Chris D and loads of overs I cant remember.
Park Crescent benches.
i love your comments about barry especially bepo that tickled me and the powerstation which is now closed,so is the rolledrome, you forgot to mention kitty she sadly has died nowstephens at the end of holton road is now another charity shop and the council has at last had a grant to up grade the town hall and central park the bagget shop from thomson street is now in holton road the night life is a little better with the acropolis and the dolphin also krs on the island but that all that changed
Runcorn Park, Coldbrook. Now demolished.
look out for a silver corsa if you see it flag it down ladies it will stop for you.
The best place in Barry has got to be the YMCA. Plenty of great
facilities there and home to the best Taekwondo club in the
whole world.
Personally I find there are far too many youngsters hanging around just waiting to get into trouble. Gangs of youths can seem quite threatening to older/younger people.
Ah, has to be the shelters in Romilly Park...down there wiv your mates and your 2 litres of cheap cider...I'm happy to say that I never actually had to do that though as I've always managed to find something better to do with my time :-)
Try the Official Barry web site for uptothe minute information http:www.barrywales.co.uk and apologies if this hasn't come out as a link
Gladstone park shelters, where youngsters may smoke and spit to while away their days. I personally used to hang out on Park Cresent benches.
Go down the Knap if you want to be infuriated by a load of twatish middle class rollerbladers. Try the bus shelters in the park by the cinema, you should find an assortment of joker smokers and 15 year old Kevins on the cheap hooch, along with Sharon, Carol and Debbie also pissed and probably up the duff with Darryl jr.
I don't know whether things have changed, but the bench by the bus stops by All Saints Church was THE place to be - especially in Flea's day (!!??!!)
Also, Central park (soon to go ?) - a great place for 12 year olds to have a fag and drink cheap cider.
it must be barry island fairground,
Coolest place is Barry Island Rollerdome, which is a rollerskate/ blade place on Barry Island, also the Yoyo Capital of the World. Ramps and stuff for bladers and boarders every Wednesday and Sunday....better than the Knap as it's indoors and dry and warm. Wicked shop with great gear. Hockey, boards, blades, beginners nights, parties, disco's.....and we all hang out here. dead cool!
