Record Shops
Spillers in Cardiff
WOOLIES WH SMITH ACTUALY CASH GEN DO A FEW OLD SKOOL TUNES
christophers shut down years ago, looks like cardiff is the nearest
Just get on the train and go to Cardiff.
Dvinals in Cardiff for the rare stuff.
I go to Woolies for my American imported white-boy hip hop. The girls with perms and bling bling gold always have a wink, a smile and a "T'ra" for Jonesy. I love you girls.
There used to be cristophers in high street but now closed
Christopher's is no more
christophers is nows closed so mall you have is woolworths or wh smiths
christophers record shops in high street has now closed , so you can only get cd's from woolworths or W H smiths.
Christophers is shut I'm afraid, now there is nowherein the town. If you aare interestedin teddy bears there's a new shop in high st; called sez bears. Then there's always hypa value, there also a new supermarket (Morrisons) that is on the dock, all no1dock has gone and is being built on, there are plans for a KFC and Argos are romoured to be interested, Dan Evaaaaaan's haas finally lost his grip on the council at last.
there are no good ones
Only one left. Smug Christophers in High street
no decent record shops I'm afraid... frankly its crap
Ooh, lets see. I used to work in Olivers, that's nice shop.
Dan Evans, the shop that keep the town alive.
are there any records left in Woolworths after the manager of that department has been charged for stealing
christophers, high street
Christophers in high street is probably the only one now and they are suitably smug about it.
There is only one record shop in Barry, at the end of high street. Its shit.
I think Christopher's has already been mentioned....
a popular shop would be t.j's pet centre holton road barry, not only is it clean and tidy but the staff seem to know what they are talking about, all the animals look healthey and happy
Christophers in High Street........Phil has the best selection of music...and can order you anything from anywhere.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
roosters down rhoose point run by el gringo
Barry might not be as good as cardiff but then in barry you dont have to worry about paying a fortune to get home that is of course if you are lucky enough to get a taxi. a good night out is going to cubannas, eze then 2 eze and once and a while you might even find a good looking guy amongst all the drunken, desperate, horney men. i have had no trouble in these clubs and i have been going there for a while the bouncers make sure of that
WELL GOTTA B THE ZOO (WINDSOR) FULL OF FIGHTIN CLASSICS AN 10 PINT BIRDS AN RUN BY SPARKY TOP MAN
EZ
EZ2
thats about it, although Barry nightlife sucks big ass
Not much clubbing scene in Barry or Barry Island. The council dont want anyone to have any fun they need to invest in the people of barry. If i had the money i would have turned the butlins Regency building and outdoor pool into a a Massive club(butlins) But as per usuall the council would rather demolish it then build houses.. So wot chance have we got of having a decent nightlife..or somewhere that someone wants to visit..no CLUBS no visitors very slim chance
Ezzs in Broad Street r where its at (apparantly).
I used to enjoy going to Friars over the Island many moons ago. They have an exquisite garden with Berlin Wall barbed wire along its walls. And the requests by becapped youths for "Rizla bra" brought to mind those orgies of ancient Rome that we have since replaced with more civilized affairs.
the vibe it aint a club but if u get wrecked before u go who needs 2 drink!
KRs is a classic if you want to see old people pretending to be Britney.
New bar Eze @ Barry hotel, a hettie clip joint for the over 21s
There are several clubs/disco's/night spots on the Island all with late licences, Dolphin, Merry Friars 2 and a couple more I can't remember the names. The Borough Arms in High st; has a late licence Fri/Sat. Horatios has just reopened again, the old pixie is now called McGowans, the Railway still the same old dump, the Vic & chain locker have both gone to the great brewery in the sky, Windsor they are trying to clean it up but it's lost it's attmosphere, Bassett & Castle nuff said, all the rest are just the same.
ezee's where the old vaults use to be.
there 1 or 2 that i been over on Barry Island ..for Dolphin where they usally given away a quids for a bottle but not too sure if they doin now
The Island is much better than it used to be with quite a few good clubs but personally i wouldnt go out in Barry, I would go to Cardiff, youre less likely to get into a fight with some yob.
the savoy is a great place for rocking the night away with great rock music but its full of TOWNIES so get the hell out of there!!!!!!
The orginal Friars in the 80'S, fantastic.
Friars (maybe under under a different name but hot tipped by local paper to rival the entire scene in Ibiza)
dolphin acropolis krs the new friars
Start off at The Ship, then make your way over to Barry Island. On Friday night the Acropolis is where everyone goes. Saturday night most people go to the Dolphin. They're both free before 10pm and they are open til 2am.
The Savoy (saveloy) now houses the old Friars crowd, and the you punks heh heh
The Power Station, what a shithole, you wouldn't catch
me in there on a Saturday night because I'll be working
in the REAL power station in Aberthaw.
Great Western Railway Club. Ideal for those too mean to buy their own fags as everyone else is on 90 a day.
Don't try to get served on a Sunday during bingo as the staff all play too.
However, beer is cheap, well kept and you get a divvy at christmas.
Don't do it. Read other comments about English people "getting their heads kicked in". This is true - do you really want to socialise with such narrow minded people? Go to Cardiff - if you tell people you're from barry you won't meet any trouble. People get to hear about us.
Well there are a couple of small one's about...they are really more like late opening pubs, if u wanna reeeeaaally go clubbing you're best of taking a train into Cardiff.
Vibe disco for drunks
ThePowerstation has gone...
Why not try the Power Station (Barry Hotel) It costs around a fiver to get in. In return you get a voucher which entitles you to a bottle of lousy lager, access to several bars and undisguised hostility from staff and patrons alike.
On the pull? Pull the other one. If you want to pick up a young female, youd have better luck at Crufts
Try the power station if you want a ruckuss, bad vibes are on Wayne ! ( and his 6 chumps ) Dont, under any circumstance look at any women in here - it will be some bad boys misses, and you WILL get a hiding. The bouncers, god bless them, manage to keep the peace by selling draw, and also by being hardcore rasta rudies from birmigham, specially employed to keep the locals in check.
Horatios is sort of a shit club give it a miss, pretty much the same except slappers.
barry island ypo
If you want a safe night out, sometimes with a bar extension and live bands, try the Borough Arms in High Street. Well managed and run by Gary but sometimes a little crowded. The normal teenies are scarce in here.
Barry suffers from not a lot of nightlife choice. Used to be brill 15 years ago, but Police revoked all late licences....and so entertainment has suffered. Power Satatio was good, but now more like a Nursery school looking after all the nappy brigade.
None worth going to. Any clubs are usually full of mindless yobs looking for a fight.
Friars - Definitely catered to the younger clientele with a prepensity for modern music. Two bars and dance floors; one on each floor. Downstairs plays indie, grunge, garage, thrash etc., upstairs plays music that sucks, soul, dance etc. (they probably like Simply Red up there). This place is a bit of a dive, worth avoiding unless you're already drunk. On Barry Island turn left after crossing right after crossing the bridge and follow the road around.
Power Station - Big, vast, five bars, two dance floors, in the old Barry Hotel Broad st. Number of live acts weekly, open Thursday, Friday, Satudray, Sunday. Licenced till 1:00am. Good reputation, no trouble so far. Mixed age group supposedly over 20s only. Look, this place is really big - take a map.
Live Music Venues
smokey joes rhoose point
The Park..
The Castle on a Friday night, great live bands, especially if you're over 40!!!
The Savoy occasionally have bands, they had the Kennedy Soundtrack once, but its getting is license for live music reviewed.
The local teen bands do gigs in Penarth and Dinas.
The MEMO is a good venue. Barry Island ypo
Memo (or outside any Barry house after closing time...)
K.r's where they have look alike bands and artist all very good the meal as alot to be desired though
again the savoy but its full with sad townies because their cider has gone flat and a hobo has taken up there bench
Friars again. Buffs club used to be great on Fridays years ago until it was taken over and later torched by local thugs.
saveloy
I suppose some of the school put some good concerts on.
The Welsh schools usually
