Skateboarding Spots

  • Knap skate park. hopefully being updated soon in memory of rich taylor.
  • Spots.. The new skatepark in Gibbonsdown.. the midi ramp isn't bad but the rest of the place is total shite for skateboarders, ok for your fruit booters and Bicycle Moto X riders ;) but whoever had the bright idea of tarmacing the floor needs shooting.. Tarmac + Summer = rolling on a sticky sweet. various other spots I have skated for years which I'll share If I meet you, but I ain't gonna post em here for the gromments to spoil
  • The best places are over gibby!!
  • Has to be Civic Offices after dark.
  • down the knap its not that great but itll do
  • the fountains outside the old town hall.I kid u not!!!!!!
  • The Knap is the only place i can think of although I do see the Slipknot Crew up Tescos and around Highlight Park so maybe theres somewhere up there...Or maybe its just the middle class kids uniform!
  • The best skate board spots are in cardiff or anywhere away from me.
  • The Knap I suppose.
  • The knap, although the scene is lame and some of the local skaters are tossers, don't look for any skaters to help you out unless you see me, 28 and still rock n rolling baby, btw the ramp isn't massive... pussy
  • Sadly, the rollerdome is no more, but the road around Romilly park seems popular (unfortunately, cars use it too!)
  • Go down the knap on a sunday afternoon. An assortment of bewheeled freaks will be on the loose, they 'le sort it out.
  • Barry Island Rollerdome every Wednesday and Sundays from 6pm....must wear a helmet and take a Parent first time to sign you in.
  • Knap Lake, in the Old Harbour, is heralded as the best skate park for miles around. This is a relatively new addition [1997] and as a skater my self I can say the half pipe is MASSIVE.
  • Holm View Centre: Skate sessions: half-pipe, quarter pipe and fly offs. [In your dreams... I bet this isn't still there.] Good carparks [but they probably are!].

Skateboard Shops

  • no skateshops now... thinking of opening one if enough interest
  • Kings Square on Market day.
  • Skateshops in cardiff
  • a new skate-board shop has opened down by the dole office..also a hang out place..
  • Holton Road near the post office is a skateboard shop thats sells every thing you want for skateboards, ( usually full of kids in baggy clothes with slipknot all over them ).
  • New skate board shop opened in Holton rd; don't know thee name of it but it's down the bottom end opposite cash generator, (the old electricty board shop)
  • New one on Holton Road by Tjs pet shop...looks ok i guess...always full of slipknot freaks
  • the ski lodge is good located by the caravan place in caddy (cadoxton) and can i add the knap skaters are not middle class
  • none in Barry, city surf in Cardiff being the closest
  • Barry Island Rollerdome has all the brands, Powell, G&S, Santa Cruz, Indy, Gullwing etc. Birdhouse, Hookups..griptape

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Barry. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Barry.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
