The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else

• Best city in the UK, easily! A Vibrant, Friendly, Atmospheric, Magical place and so easy to fall in love with!
• Feeling Bored? Summer holidays coming? Why not do some voluntary work for your local cancer charity based in Whitchurch? We need drivers, gardeners, office and shop staff, admin, etc. Give Sharon a call on 02920524150 or email sharon.owen@george-thomas-hospice.org.uk
• rogue accident repair garage on newport road cardiff Executive Garages if you need a "CUT AND SHUT"Repair to the worst standard this is place for you.Its crazy very poor working practise to charge customers for new parts and not change them but just to repair panels total rip off,ask the hire company Enterprise they don't know that they are getting riped off!
• Most un co-operative staff- Went to Witherspoons and the staff were actually arguing infront of me about who could be the least bothered to serve me!
• Queen Street and St Mary's Street at night has been taken over by drugged and drunken yobs, chavs and slappers many of whom are from outside Cardiff. They come to Cardiff for a night out because they know they can get away with anything. There are places to go if you are over thirty such as restaurants, cinemas and theatres but then you have to put up the imbecilic behaviour of club revellers.
• Cardiff is a good city but has lost a lot of its histoy due to bad planning, especially in the Docklands area and in Splott and Adamsdown. Cardiff Bay just over the top!
• A class new magazine coming out - produced independently in Cardiff called Psychedelic Malik - e-mail psychedelic_Malik@yahoo.co.uk for more details - is this allowed??
• Cardiff is in Glamorgan - The actions of successive Westminster based governments to disect it and others (what the hell is Rhondda Cynon Taff supposed to be?) do not change that fact.
• Don;t forget to check out Lovecraft in Canton a fantastic range of adult materials on offer at bargain basement prices
• the Drama in qweens street very funny wait there for about a mimtue and u'll have something like "come on girls your walkin slow" 15seconeds later "HURRY UP YOU FUCKING FORANARS" At her top of voice then u have the person who walk up to and says be qwiet and the guy who says walk around them u fat cow then gets a slap ahhh sp funny
• Cardiff is not in Glamorgen in in cardiff like New York New york
• Cardiff rocks!
• IF YOU CAN BREATH THE TOXIC FUMES YOU MIGHT JUST LIVE TO ENJOY YOUR STAY AT THIS BEAUTIFULL SEASIDE RESORT.teo
• It is not The Italian Confectionery shop in the Morgan Arcade, It is The Royal Sweet Shop in Royal Arcade that sells the best jelly beans in the world!!!!!!!!!!
• Cardiff city are the best footy team in the world
• You can get good weekend deals in the Hilton - an exec room gives you free all-night drinking in the exec bar with cool views over Cardiff Castle.
• There is no welsh vs. english problem here unless you start it. If you don't have an open mind and can't accept that you are coming to the capital city of WALES, (however anglicised it may be) then you can bugger off again. Especially for any of you prospective students out there about to start uni here, you made a conscientious decision to come to the university of Wales, you chose to live here. Do not knock the welsh. They are friendly, funny and speak a ridiculously complicated language which you'll never undertand but they are proud of their heritage and justifiably so.
• CARDIFF IS NO LONGER IN THE COUNTY OF GLAMORGAN, IT IS NOW THE CITY AND COUNTY OF CARDIFF
• Don't knock the place till you've tried worse ones.
• shootin' goon are the best ska-punk band and the come from cardiff!
• just jump on the train or pop over in the car - I think you;ll be suprised !
• The Italian Confectinery in Morgan Arcade sells the best jelly babies in the known universe. Cardiff is highly 'anglicised' and very English-friendly, whatever you may have heard. As long as you don't belt out 'Jerusalem' half an hour after England have beaten Wales at rugby, you'll be fine. Due to nineteenth-century immigration, having any Irish blood at all makes you an honorary local.
• Finetime magazine folded. Try BUZZ instead - available (usually late! - say mid month) at same places. Free.
• There's a very friendly scene. We don't ignore visitors. Lots of different things. Not much hassle. Well-stocked skate shop. Bad news on Rugby International days.
• When you want to have a B+B in Cardiff, you better go look for it outside the town because in the B+B area it is really bad. It is not really B+B but it are more big old buildings with a lot of rooms which are very dirty and the rooms are there more for the owners to make money than to let you have a nice staying.
• Most Romantic Place to Get Married: Egerton Grey Country House Hotel in Porthkerry, near Rhoose. Now has a licence for civil weddings, so in one place you can get married (it is a converted Edwardian rectory in a romantic country setting), have the reception (the food is excellent) and the honeymoon (some rooms have the original huge Edwardian baths and there is a genuine 4-poster bed)! Classic rooms full of period antiques and used as location for TV programmes - Edward Fox, Christopher Lee, Edward Woodward and Desmond Morris have all filmed there. The Dalai Lama stayed there in 1989 when he visited Cardiff.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Cardiff. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Cardiff.

If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
