Favourite Building
It has to be Chambercombe Manor, complete with its own ghosts.Well worth a visit.
The Sunny
Ilf theatre, called the 'Landmark', looks like a pair of boobies.
Bunch of Grapes!!!
Ilfracombe's own version of Manhattan's grid-iron which sits at the end of the High Street dividing the roads to The harbour and Combe Martin; The Roundhouse which is a circular residential building up at The Cairn; Calthorpe House which is a Georgian gem ....
The Landmark is GREAT!
landmark theatre
The Landmark - as it has caused a lot of contravesy.
The Landmark, as it has caused so many different opinions. Ilfracombe should move with the times. The Victorians would have felt the same in their day - trust me.
The Old Pavillion
Demolish It Now Building
nothing comes to mind
ilfracombe college for the fact it looks like a dirty old prison
police station so they cant finnish a cup of tea before rescuin someone who is stuck and takin ages to get there, or forgetting because they are too high on caffine.
The Golden Coast. Oh no, The Showboat.
Ilf College. Looks like a factory, is a factory.
The Landmark Theatre. Who's stupid idea was that?!!!
Charlotte Pinkney Sculpture, WHY does she deserve 1 ?
The Landmark Theatre - it won awards but no one knows why. The Collingwood Hotel because the owners have left it to rot. Otherwise Ilfracombe is jam packed with lovely period buildings - some a bit the worse the wear but gradually getting done up as new money moves in
Town Hall
Lucky's please - it's full of cunts
Landmark
everything
any that lots of people like, just to get a reaction.
None as they are all so unique and Ilf should remain that way - UNIQUE.
The New Pavillion
Madonna's Bra!!!!!!!!!
The Best Things
has to be the scenery, the harbour and some lovely pubs.
the marlboro club for live music,
14 tattooing for them tattoo lovers,
the chocolate musuem/cafe for there amazing chocolates and displays and there chocolate overdose yummy drink.
The locals
Hotstuff 5 The Candar Ilfracombe
The exit? No asylum hostel yet?
The view of the sunset from Capstone Hill without a doubt. Tunnels Beaches are really wonderful too.
The people and the parties!
The sea air, cliff top walks, spectacular views, the harbour (and its boat trips), the people, the prices - most things cost a lot less here than elsewhere in the country...
The quietness, the nice people, the beach, the summer, the talent!!its the nicest place you could go to in England
Cool place to be...the place has a laidback attitude to life and anybody can do what they want without too much hassle...close to 3 major surfing beaches in UK
tunnels beaches or the Bunch of Grapes
The A361 out of town.
One of the best things are the cream teas at the Tea Rooms at Larkstone Park next to the swimming baths. There is fun golf and a play area for the children while you sit and enjoy the views over the river and habour. Well worth it folks. ps. you can even park for the day for only 50p last time we visted 2000.
Summer - lots of people
Hollies and Rostrons - The best gift shops, just don't break anything
Pleasant people
Summer
The Worst Things
unless its improved it has to be the public toilets.....they stink.
the smelly people
the chavs
people who need to get out more
the boring people
ilfracombe college
summerfield
The grockles
People call Ilf 'Little liverpool' for a reason.
I was irritated by the YHA, which I booked into weeks in advance, only to find on the day that nobody was there for hours and hours to let us in. We kept wandering around the town while we waited. We went somewhere else in the end, which was probably a lot better.
Some awful bore who goes under the name "Shudras" and regularly posts all over the internet. They go on about how they think that the all people of Ilfracombe/Devon/Westcountry are scum, unless they've moved there from the South East, like "Shudras".
Grockles! If you don't know this word, then you are one!!!
Visitors from certain areas - their accents really grate on the nerves.
Skateboarders skateboarding along the wall by HOLLIES, as it is a very dangerous place to skateboard.
the drug rate is quite high
ass holes who whinge
bitchy girls
The people. Like most West Country towns this far down the peninsular, you will not be welcome if you come from anywhere north of Bristol or east of Bath. The bigotry and insularity is breathtaking.
its a dive-well thats not all true -there are some realy nice views around the coast and around the edges but yep, mostly its not very nice.summer its ok but winter its a shameful scene and the attitude of some of the girls is typically pathetic.sorry you people but its true.however there are also nice girls and im one of them, one of the very few.
Everything is the worst thing... this place is a sty!
everything apart from...
my house
relatives and friends houses
pier
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Ilfracombe.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
