Local Bands

  • Kids in tracksuits rock. One of them is my ex but I still love their music, when I can catch it. Radio one and rescue rooms seem to be fans and trust me, they came up from just doing it in their bedrooms.
  • Verbal Warning, punk band that does Ramones, Green day and Clash covers plus some of theyre own stuff
  • the richard derby band
  • Johnny no stars deserve a very special welcome
  • 'Grain' play what they describe as Kung-Fu-Hill-Billy music with guitar, banjo and harmonica backing up a wild-looking front man and are probably the most entertaining (and bizarre) act I've seen in Nottingham (they seem to play loads in venues like The Maze, Junction7 and The Social). 'Trickster' play groove driven funky folk with trombone and harmonica and are great fun. For electro-pop you could check out 'The Henry Road' and for original sounding rock driven stuff 'Old Basford' are local favorites.
  • The Richie Powell Experiance - a youngish band just starting out but have been booked for gigs in Norwich and Leicester. Coming to the Frog and Onion, Forest Fields, April 2006. Reggae, latin and surf (sounds better in real life!)
  • check out weeble if you like ska punk. Bainbo is the man, i miss you roomy!
  • Supernight presents...nights are always good. Loads of atmosphere, varied and great value. I've seen all the below there and they're well worth checking out. Ali Farthing (Bonsai Projects) is an ace musician AND artist. Keep 'em peeled for him. Will Jeffrey - Great voice, good lad Penfold Plum - bleeps, beats, etc to put a smile on your face

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Nottingham. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Nottingham.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
