  • void ice9 none-stop ( i could go on all day but all r excpensive)
  • ice 9 yumyums void non-stop 4 seasons dna and most the shops in hockly
  • Try 'Boutique 28' in hockley, its through the back of a hardressers which is next door to that big, big pink sex shop. It has some really cool retro clothing in there (boutique 28 that is, not the sex shop). Well worth a look. Theres another retro shop in st.johns arcade. The shop doesnt seem to have a name, and the guy who owns it introduces himself with a different name every time i go in and its a bit messy but theres some cool stuff in there, you just gotta find it! Others worth knowing about are Wild, Backlash, Celias, Helterskelter, Daphnes' handbag, and all of the charity shops too.
  • HSC, Non stop, Market (ok..so im cheap, ) poundshop (only jokin)
  • the diesel shops always cool, go to boxer too, they have all the cool brands like gravy. backlash is a cool thrift store, awesome leather jackets, never ever ever go to house of frasier or usc when they have sales on, you cant move for townies and you can never find any decent clothing

  • Hi there, I am from NY City and saw your section on Nottingham. You mentioned Ice nine and other shops who sell baggies. I really love English fashion. I am trying to buy English baggy trousers and hooded sweats from the English Madchester/Rave era circa 1988-1992. Could you please tell me what shops in England carry these engish rave era colthes from the 1988-1992 Era? Thanks Tay NY City
  • non-stop, HSC+, freespirit, Two Seasons,
  • hsc rocks!!!!!!!!!
  • none stop and hsc
  • omg. It's a SHOPPING centre for ****s sake. clothes? no way
  • Void in hockley ...lots of good leather gear aswell as some nice corsets and tshirts. afew nice baggy trousers, kinda exspensive (but isnt everywhere now goth is trendy?) some very nice trousers..only one problem, the shops very dusty and airless..kinda hard to breathe!
  • Bug in hockley, just before you get to ice 9 going down the hill. fantastic for all your clubbing needs, uv clothing, glowsticks, the lot. bit pricey mind.
  • Lots seem to be everywhere!
  • Hockley's really opened up now and there's loads more interesting clothes shops. Revival used to be good, but it's changed now. Still worth a look every now and then (up the alley opposite where the odeon used to be next to the southern fried chicken place, near the alley cafe, cuba libre, cucamara's etc). For more labelled stuff, then the street by the top end of broadmarsh, up 2 sets of escalators, out glass doors, turn right at limey's)is where you find Diesel, Flannels, Whistles, Ted Baker, Office, Jigsaw, Miu Miu, Reiss (turn right by Cafe Rouge), Paul Smith (also up here)plus loads more.
  • A few of the interesting shops are Ice Nine and Void in Hockley, and while you're down in Hockley, you'll find lots of good quality small shops. For vintage clothes, i recommend Helter Skelter (Mansfield Road, opposite the cemetary), Daphne's Handbag, which is now further down mansfield road, nearer to town. Its a few doors up from the YMCA style place, and the Shogun showroom.
  • ark is the ultimate cutest shop, they hav roxy, animal, chillim pepper, real real cute clothes! ;) turn left from the mcdonalds near virgin and walk straight up!
  • USC is a heavy shop, and i like topshop too but if you like alternative shit try void in hockley and ice nine in hockley too. have a look in the flying horse and the one oppostite that. there's a childrens designerwear shop there somewhere and i bought my baby a versace suit and my mate got her baby a moschino dress!!!
  • Ice Nine, bit expensive but great jeans and baggy trousers. Also Afgan coats which are nice. Opposite is Urban Myth really good for off the wall clothes but a bit expensive. Somewhere round that area is Wild which downstairs has really good cheap jeans.
  • g-force in hockley across from ice9.Quite expensive but really cool. Cheap upstairs in the sale room (i got some badass jeans for £15)reminds me of ARK in a more individual way
  • void ice 9 hsc and the blokes on vitoria market
  • Ark, USC, Envy and Next (which I think is quite good actually). House of Fraser seems to sell all of last year's fashions.
  • ArK- in Nottingham- Ice nine, in Hockley a wicked charity shop up in hockley near the Ice Stadium and woolworths 4 all ur cool lil t shirts
  • Oxfam on Bridlesmith Gate and Celia's Vintage clothing store on Derby Road
  • Bug - the cybergoth shop! Get your fluffy S-Club 7 style yeti boots there!! Only £40!! Luv Di XXXX
  • Definitely HSC. You need a bank loan to shop there but the clothes are cool
  • Kaleidoscope - Hurts Yard (an old medieval lane) 2nd hand funky gear
  • Pretty damn good for clothes, although not as good as Leeds
  • Daphne's handbag opposite the cemetry sells all the usual second hand and 70's gear along with novelty retro toys. There is a shop next door doing an amazing trade in their own flares as well as recycled clothes and records. The staff here are very enthusiastic and friendly old hippies and may custom make flares to order if your v.pleasent. Well worth the walk past victoria centre up Mansfield road.
  • Nammo is good, nice staff, styles that the other's get later
  • Revival-opposte Odeon down a tiny discreet ally.
  • white stuff, ice 9, the Vic centre market, i get all my baggies from 'ere!
  • Wild clothing buy second hand clothes from oxfam that look 'retro' and put a 900% profit margin on the item before reselling it to you (uncleaned). The smell of decaying flesh permeates the air.
  • HSC+ in Goose Gate is a new skaty-streety shop.
  • Ark is good opposite marks and spencers, some expensive carharrt stuff but some cool pants and t shirts there. Red or Dead has got to be the best nottingham store by far, really cool, really individual, great sales there, but unfortunatly all the school kids are discovering it and it's all getting a bit too mainstream. Cruuise Flannels is good if you are after designer clothes, good sales , as is karren millen for posh girls stuff and nice suits and frocks!!
  • Nice shops in Hockley (East side of the city centre), Bridlesmith Gate
  • warehouse and Gap
  • Backlash- a retro-indie shop on Lower Parliament Street Very affordable!
  • Celia's Vintage Clothing, Derby Road just below Canning Circus - clothes for all genders, excellent mod and 70s gear with extensive range of dinner suits
  • Nottingham is one of the best shopping places for clothes in the country. The area has all chain stores, many cool trendy shops in the Hockley area and is rife with factory shops - including designer names (many of which are not detailed in those Factory Shop Guides!). A Factory Designer Outlet Mall is currently being constructed in the Mansfield area of Notitngham which is promising 70+ Designer factory Shop Outlets.

Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)

  • COVERAGE down WestEnd Arcade is brilliant for all your graffitiying needs! it has lots of other stuff too. It's owned by this really safe guys called Dilks. Its well worth popping in just to browse at the colourfulness of the walls!

  • Oooh Hobby Craft is good.
  • 'The Bead Shop'.. Lower Parliament Street. 'Ice 9' .. Hockley. 'Yum Yum' - Near Non Stop, St James Street.
  • IGUAZU Global Gift Shop. We opened our shop nearly a year ago and are trying to promote global fair trade as well as local art and music. We are on Beeston High Road and supply loads of fair trade gifts, and great handmade cards - and we've got a website www.iguazuglobalgifts.co.uk - why not have a look!!
  • The TokenHouse! has fab bags and mugs and cute little gifts!
  • Art shop Coverage for all your graf and marker needs, west end arcade downstairs next to groove city records.
  • Ice NiNe, discovery store, gadget shop, natural world, teddy bear factory
  • evolution in broadmarsh centre. only reason for going in there. (gud value for nice stuff. But not for the faint nosed)
  • gee dee models rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • There's a little art shop on Mansfield Road that I recently discovered. Not far from a well stocked second-hand bookshop. Both recommended.
  • i don't know of any as such but there's some pretty buff arty shops in hockley.
  • There's some interesting art in the Djanogli Art Centre by the University.
  • Angel Row library, just received massive grant to expand and deliver some real interactive art!
  • the art shop & luna in the lace market are both v.cool. The art shop sells loads of local stuff and hand painted pottery and the like. Luna is like a big car boot 1960's stuff shop with excellent lava lamps (original ones)etc.
  • Luna, on George Street in the Lace Market, is a beautiful shop selling original 50's, 60's, and 70's objects for the home. Anything from lavalamps and Michelin men Whitefriars glass and angle-poise lamps.
  • Make sure you visit the Angel Row gallery in the same complex as central libary. There is always a crazy exhibition of modern art on, it's often quiet but dont be afraid to wonder around.
  • Spirit has opened its second shop - in Newark, OK it`s not Nottingham, but it`s close and very beautiful.
  • Stuff & co... Hockley. A unique little shop with lots of trendy little items for the home
  • Spirit. 5 Flying Horse Walk, Nottingham NG1 2HN The most beautiful shop in Europe - at least that's what one of our customers once said! We sell nothing but stained glass by Jo Katy Wood. It is spectacular - come and see for yourself!

Magazine and Comic Shops

  • page 45
  • PAGE 45!!! on Market Street - it's better than all the other shops that happen to sell comics on the side as well as their main products because they are totally specialized and commited to comics. There is more out there than super-heroes and the guys who work there are the nicest people you'll ever meet!
  • Forbidden Planet is opposite Games Workshop now, and Another World has closed.
  • oxfam book shop in nottingham
  • Unleashed Madness http://unleashedmad.proboards23.com/ http://unleashmadness.proboards30.com/

  • whsmiths have got loads of mags.
  • erm...a few odd newsagents stock sidewalk etc...
  • wh smiths

  • Forbidden Planet in Broadmarsh, Another World on King's Street (go right at the market square by the newsagents)
  • another world, just down from selectadisc, forbidden planet in broadmarsh and page 45.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Nottingham. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Nottingham.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
