All been resurfaced just lately, very smooth ^-^. 4 foot half-pipe with extension, rollin, funbox with grind box, and a quarter pipe. Nice park, great laughs, good skaters :-D. http://www.thehookskatepark.cjb.net - go there for pictures of the park and skaters profiles with pics and all sorts.
  • The square. Hmmm, bet you didnt have that one already. (It was in RAD once) Theres a nice half pipe and a few bits at Chilwell Olympia, Queens road, Chilwell. (you can see it from the main road)
  • Kimberley nottingham, has a rahter small sk8 park but its dun me proud for last 5 months and cause its so small it gets pretty busy pretty quickly its gud for beginers like moi, the people are friendly there is the odd gang of nar dans tho i friggin hate rudeys anywho check kimberley skatepark 1/4 fun box grind box and flatback and swings lol (no worries)
  • Radcliffe skatepark rules! There's a 1/2 pipe, 4ft, 6ft and 8ft 1/4 pipes, driveways, funbox, high rail, and now a beginners section with mini boxes, flat banks and stuff. There is a gap over the little wall of the beginners section about four ft down to the main section, good for ollieing. Plus if the parks full, you can flatland on the basketball court there.
  • they are sposed to be build a park in west bridgford in the feild opposite the co-op. thats all i no.
  • the banks behind broad marsh is a good place, also NCP which is inbetween the castle and broad marsh. the ampitheatre - but ur not allowed to skate there :(
  • A hella good place to skate in Mapperley-Westdale Junior School on Westdale Lane. You have to scale a 6 foot fence but once over you'll find an ultra smooth skating surface, steps, walls for grinding and tricking over and a nice 7-8 foot gap.
  • There seem to be loads of mentions of an 'unknown' spot in LadyBay/Rushcliffe. Well, it's the Hook. It's a pretty good area for skating, although i know it better for slightly more illicit activities. Great during in the day, but do watch out for all the twats at night.
  • all the ncp spots (nottingham city car parks) all the top floors are virtually empty but u can only skate for about 20-30 minutes cus the dumb-ass security man kicked u out in the square theres a little ramp towards the toilets but u cant sk8 there on saturdays because of the dumb ass security!
  • yo yo yo, DO NOT do the hill down by the arboretum if ur trucks are loose, i tried it and started fishtailing before i jumped off, but due to the high speed i was going at, i twisted my leg back, grazed both knees and chipped a few bones in my able, other then that, it was great.
  • Nottingham is an ace place to board there is no argument, a good place is an underground car park near the blue rails, its about 5 mins from rock city, on sundays its empty, its good, it also has a 20 ft long MOVEABLE rail in there thats about a ft high.
  • square, ladybay, pyramid press, outside Hanson supermarket, bombing downhill on the arboretum! nuff sed!
  • the lions are the best place to meet people, even has shelter for when it rains, but dont try to sneak into the council house or the big fat bouncer chases you...hee hee, he cant run for too long, but if he caught you....
  • As mentioned below, that skatepark in WEST BRIDGEFORD rocks! Also, me and a couple of mates went skating round various places in the city centre- we went up to the very top floor of the broadmarsh bus station, it was wickid! there were no cars, just a big open space with one bit higher than the other so there is a sort of drop-in slopey bit! Plus you can see for miles! But we got chucked off by some security guards after about 20 minutes. damn video cameras!
  • we found a random park at west bridgeford near lady bay bridge the people there are cool (no nars or rudies) the half pipe is wicked and has a 1/4 pipe and other stuff if you can be arsed to ride further you could go to radcliffe which rocks too carlton le willows school has a few alrite benches and steps with a smooth surface (caretakers wear blue lol)(BEWARE THEY CHASED US WITH STICKS) i would not recommend going on a long journey to get there but if you live in the area give it a try
  • The park in west Bridgeford/Rushcliff area. Near Lady bay road. There used to just be a half pipe at the back but just recently they've added loads of cool stuff: a funbox, 2 quaterpipes and two ramps joined by a box(i forget what thats called) and there's some planks of wood, cones, bricks and a broken rail if you wanna be creative! CHECK IT OUT, IT ROCKS!
  • Clarendon College-this place is great, ask for accurate directions but its behind victoria centre and then about another 20mins walk but it's worth it
  • the red bank are really cool i dont no y they was bult its like they where created for skateboarding there is also some really nice steps around the corner but the run up is a bit shitty there is a 3,4,5,7set thats worth checking out around that sort of area is cool dont skate in the square tho because its just to bussy only the think goths try and skate there. chilwell is ok for skateing not gr8 but ok, colage house school is ok there are some steps and a large flat, smooth surface but u can old skate there on the weekends and later because there is normaly teachers and cleaners there till bout 6ish and there is a 5ft half pipe and a 6ft quarter at chillwell comp school.
  • A couple of years ago they banned skating in the square and it's had a revolutionising affect (or so it seems superficially) within the alt. scene. Before, skaters were very aware of themselves and each other. Now that's dead as far as other people are concerned, because the new kids emerging onto the scene have to skate elsewhere and aren't noticed. It's had a grounding affect on poeple who's egos verged on catatonic.
  • broadmarsh flatbanks, ncp, ampitheatre *tho there startin 2 get kinda strict there now*
  • broadmarsh railway arches and behind peoples college on maid marion way. just cut through the colllege grounds and cross the road.
  • Lady bay has a nice 4 foot mini with extension and a tight skate scene, market square is alright (if you dont get busted), just sk8 + cre8.
  • Radcliffe skate park. Including mini ramp, wall ride, drive ways and huge rollin
  • Skateboarding is now illegal, and police will fine you £100 and take your board. It sucks. Its like that all over as well.
  • loads of good spots in west bridgeford, FROG POOL kids padling pool, waxed blocks nice benches, on the embankment 200m from trent bridge,TRENT COLLEGE, massive college complex with steps ,some flat banks nad these plastic grindy benches,COUNTY HALL ,loads of steps ,2 3 4 5 and 6, some small blocks and amazing benches only good for sundys, TRENT BRIDGE HOUSE a smooth 4 step, limited run up but under cover so good for rainy days, there are loads of good spots in the centre which hardly anyone uses which is a shame, CAR PARK , it's in hockley, oposite hsc up the road about 100m, 2 ft high flat square rails, flat banks and a killer smooth surface, RED BANKS these were on the unapromo video with alan rushbrooke, smooth steep brick flat banks and a 3 step, at the front of some halls of residence past the theatre royal, there is also some nice steps ont he way to red banks past the royal theatre, PLAYHOUSE BENCHES 3 brand new marble benches out side the playhouse , just off maid marrion way, THE AMPETHEATRE loads of 2 ft high blocks smooth slabs, a large 3 block drop,CASTLE RAIL wide square rail 20ft long 2 ft high down a hill up near the castle , better for regular pushers.
  • mini ramp in ruddington
  • By the Broad Marsh Railway Arches
  • The Hook in Lady Bay
  • the market square(if it hasnt been banned yet anywhere round radcliffe...especially the rec
  • Down by the railway arches at Broad Marsh, Still as good as ever and I skated there in the seventies
  • the squares still good on a sunday - police will stop you at other times. Derby skateparks okay. But the best is the road works appearing aroung the lace market - very challanging!!
  • The pavement alongside the University Park is great for fast rollerblading - long, straight, smooth.
  • HALF PIPE IN WEST BRIDGFORD-DAMN THAT SHIT IS GOOD
  • the long run from the top of mansfield road, down 2 the square, it is not that x-citing, but it iz fazt!
  • As well as the obvious market square,Nottingham Trent uni has a good selection of steps and banks(as seen on the recent unabomber video) ,also the "Sherwood blocks" are a selection of brick bloks on Mansfield road, outside wilko's in Sherwood.
  • Skating is possible in market square-cops usualy ignore skaters ,but beware of thepissed-up tramps with dogs as they do tend to start fights and shout abuse! Various vert ramps in Radcliffe on trent, Cotgrave and in March one in West Bridgford 5 mins from where i live. County hall is a wicked place to skate with loading bay, many different amounts of steps, and smooth ground. Old filing cabinets are often knocking about and are used to drop in on etc.
  • You can no longer skate in market square.
  • St Annes 4.5' high mini. Smooth metal surface, but rough area.
  • Chilwell: Wide 6' high metal-surface mini. Fun box, slide bars, blocks etc. Also street spots in the area.
  • Highbank School, Clifton Estate: Banked area with hill leading into it. Flat at corner of bank good for Ollies to Mute over.
  • Broadmarsh banks, beside bus station in centre of town. Hefty banks and interesting bits. Classic street spot.
  • The best places to skate in Nottingham are Market Sq. and the ampitheatre up from 'Snakes

Skateboard Shops

  • I used to go to Roller Snakes in Nottingham and Derby but both outlets have been shut down. Try Non Stop, HSC+ for clothing and shoes. Non Stop is near the square, (St James). HSC+ is at Hockley, just a bit further down from Ice 9.
  • Right, I can tell you Nonstop is a skater run and skater owned shop. They know exactly what they're talking about and would be happy to help you out if you ask. I know this for a fact because I'm an ex-employee, so stop slagging them off. If they were mean to you, then you must have been a cock to one of them otherwise you'd have no problem in there. HSC+ - some safe people in there if you get to know them but someone further down said it's 'skater owned'. It isn't, it's a shop front for New Deal Skates distribution company, which is one of the reasons they only sell particualr brands in there (DC, Stussy, Element, Girl...), they sell a selection of what NDS carry and you'll get charged more than anywhere else because of this. A friend of ours runs a website that you might find helpful (SkateboardNotts.co.uk)
  • Non stop is the best place to go. 14 St james street guys there are kool one of thems a pro skater and is great for tips and tricks.

  • Non-Stop, St James' Street (alley leading towards Maid Marion Way near to where old Odeon used to be)
  • Theres a good skateboard shop on St James' Street, off the Square. I can't remember what its called, its small, but with a huge selection of boards, trainers and essential gear for skaters. Also, go to Hockley, theres plenty down that way
  • tamworth road in long eaton called designer boarderwear shop sells quiksilver and shit and it's well trendy for u skateboarders and it's actually called "the designer boarderwear shop"
  • Skateboarding in Nottingham Old Market Squire. Nottingham City Council have agreed to allow skateboarding in the Squire from 11am to 4pm. On wednesday 27th March and Thursday 28th March. There will be small ramps, lots of music, body art. etc. The are also thinking hard about opening an indoor skate park designed by skateboards. This will be 3 minutes walk from Victory Centre.
  • non-stop on st james street is by the far the besk skate/bmx shop in nottingham and has a pretty good hip-hop section upstairs.HSC isn't bad, but a bit pricey. Just up the road from non-stop is peak performance, this sells a few decks and some hardware.
  • peak performance up the main alley from maid marion way (the 1 with the light shop on the corner) and a sk8 shop near there but i can't remember what it's called
  • There's a couple up by West Side but I've never been in.

  • HSC is my favourite but only because of the lovely staff
  • Rollersnkes has closed down
  • Rollersnakes, Maid Marion Way - loads of scrawny skaters staring at trainers
  • Roller Snakes MAid Marion way
  • non stop sport hooked up with the old angel members card gets you discount 5% off hardware & 10%off everything else. Small 7 not pretentious & that matters!!!
  • HSC..the shop that got robbed! oh well! go there if wanna pay £55 squid for a deck, and 60 squid 4 a pair of pants. the staff are kool though (hi Will!)
  • Leif in victoria centre sell some Quiksilver/Airwalk Jansport and Eastpack stuff.
  • HSC+ Goose Gate.
  • Non-stop, St James's Street and Roller Snakes, same road
  • Fire & Ice - A little pricey but well worth it!
  • Rollersnakes, Maid Marion Way. Non Stop Windsurfing. St James Street, near Way Ahead Records

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Nottingham. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Nottingham.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
