Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains

  • Workshop & Early's are great. For cheapies don't under estimate the power of MK1 and New Look
  • hospice shop sundon
  • Many places around Park Sq near the university, if you're a size six.
  • Fly Clothing...club wear etc etc.
  • Found a great menswear shop in Luton-Its called Ciro Citterio. Great styles and reasonable prices.
  • storage ,chapel st workshop, old bedford rd
  • The Workshop in New Bedford Road stocks top notch clobber (Lauren, YSL, Firetrap etc)
  • Earleys - Park Street - is a small boutiquey girly-type shop that fourteen year olds feel the need to obtain a stylish paper bag from so that they can bring their p.e. kits into school with style. Per Lui - Park Street - is where you'll find blokes YSL and Ralph Lauren etc. Always empty - most blokes go to Mister Byrite (cheap and cheerful).

Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)

  • Decent art shops and facilities are distinctly lacking here, its pants. If you are looking for something specialist, good luck!! but usually Bayliss & Wright in Park Street have what you need. The Hat Factory show some art from time to time but apart from that there is nothing. The Works is also great for cheap stationary and books.
  • Wat you mean any form of culture? Foreign culture yes, nothing local that waould command that the locals have brains
  • that annoying place near the bus station!
  • Morven's in the market was on the other side of the joke shop. I think it's gone now. If you're into baking Fimo eggs, the only place to get Fimo is Bayliss and Wright on Park Street.
  • SNAP at Artezium (http://www.snapart.co.uk) Worthwhile project dealing in art and photography.
  • There is a greenware (clay) shop in Sunden park but the main art shop is in Park St by the Uni.
  • Not enough craft shops, but plenty of arty stuff if you know where to go.
  • I think there's a arts & crafts museum at Stockwood Park - but I haven't been since I was knee high to a dwarf grasshopper.
  • What , in Luton the most uncultured place ever! Get real!
  • mossman collection stockwood park fair day out and its freeeeee
  • The biggest art exhibition in Luton takes place at Luton Museum in Wardown Park
  • The Graffitti on the various Railway Bridges is interesting
  • It's not much of an arty town but you can go down to Barnfield college and get your hair done cheap. That's about the extent of Luton's artistic prowess.

Magazine and Comic Shops

  • the sex shop guildford street if your unable to read the pictures aint to bad
  • The Arndale centre market
  • Luton News
  • There's a place called Off World in the Arndale market which has lots of sci-fi stuff, Star Wars figures and the like

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Luton. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Luton.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
