  • I hear that James O'Malley lives in Harborough, although I only heard this from a friend.
  • martin johnson the rugby captain was born and bread here
  • Martin Johnson Leicster Tigers and Lions star!!! Engelbert Humpeldink has a house just outside the town!!BRILLIANT!!
  • Billy Kimpton: ex road sweeper: Harborough wouldn't be the same without Billy and his cheery smile, chat and song. Annoying as hell (and a big head as well)
  • Etienne Dutoy went on to present QVC act in the West End and has since appeared in three episodes of Eastenders and just finishing working on a new film as an actor with Bruce Robinson (of Withnail and I fame ) After appearing in two shows at the bequest of John Dexter before he died he worked with Anthony Hopkins and Ian Mckellan and recently worked with Tinge Krishnan (Channel 4) BAFTA winner for best short film !!!

  • The most famous person who lives in Market Harborough, as he is always in the Harborough Mail and he has done a lot of acting in the past few years. He was wonderful as the Baron in their last production of Cinderella, and so was the whole show. Personally i think robin will go far in life and become very famous indeed.
  • Martin Johnson. Born, raised and still lives in Harborough. In case you don't know he was the captain of the victoriuos British Lions Rugby Team in South Africa and also a regular in the England team. Thomas Cook (of travel agent fame) apparently. William Bragg winner of Nobel Prize for Physics at one point. Oliver Cromwell. Stayed in the town (the church I think) before the neraby Battle of Naseby in 1645.

Buskers, Street Entertainers

  • Steve Watts with his immaculate hair is always up for a laugh!
  • The Harborough Band is quite amusing and plays fairly often. Harborough has OPEN DAYS, which to be quite honest are so Capitalistic it is unreal and bore half the town to tears. Especially those dreadful wo/men in Dog costumes. I ask WHY???
  • Chris Church can always be seen jiggin his booty for coppers ib the main square, give him silvers and he'll strip.
  • Every week sees a differant selection of buskers all arond the side steets especialy in manor walk and st marys place.
  • They all come out the woodwork at late night shopping. Other than that one or two in st marys place.
  • Now and again one of those silly men play a saw (yes the tool) and sometimes we also have an acordian player.
  • Often there's Buskers performing in St.Mary's Place .

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Market Harborough. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Market Harborough.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
