  • Ok, heres a quick rundown of the computer shops in Derby (Im a techy, I know these things, right!!!!) Potts, Babington Lane, been there FOREVER, they sell good 2nd user pc's, monitors etc. The staff are friendly and knowledgable (and the blonde lady behind the counter has a wiiiiiiiiiicked smile :op)Avoid I.P.S on Babington Lane, everything is overpriced, the staff are as miserable as sin and who look down their noses at you like you're some kinda idiot. Time(I think its called that) have just opened a new shop in the Eagle Centre, good selection of everything pc related. Maplins on East Street (bus station end) have a good selection and some cooool bargains (m8 just bought dvd burner for £50 oem :o))S.O.S on Surrey Street, off Ashbourne Road is small, dont carry much stock but stuff can be ordered and its there when they say it will be.Theres a pc shop just past Zanzibar (cant remember the name) with too many salesmen types working there (ya know the type, clean shirts, tie etc) so steer clear. Theres also the obligatory PC World but everyone knows they are chokka with overpriced stuff so avoid like the plague. Also check the local press for the computer fairs at Pride Park Stadium and Moorways leisure centre in Allenton, always cheap goodies to be had.Until recently there was a good small pc shop in Abbey Street but its now closed due to "unforseen circumstances" (did you leave anything behind guys???) so dont go looking. P.S, why arent more training providers in Derby offering the CompTIA Network+ course?? only Pitman Training on Macklin Street are offering it at the moment :o(...seeya

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Derby. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Derby.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
