Skateboarding Spots

  • Car park near Showcase Cinema
  • The Market square, where all the Goths, Emo and skaters hang out.
  • popular spot underneath the big flyover onto Pride Park, off Station Approach - big flat tarmac area right under the bridge support pillar. No one around, better still if it rains you stay dry !
  • Storm used to be ok, but then they got rid of the vert and it became infested with BMXers, no disrespect, who carelessly leave holes in all the ramps thanks to them bailing and the pegs hitting the ramps. Last i heard it was moving.
  • derby storm - skateboards and bladers. around town, the square and river gardens. rollerworld is the place for bladers.
  • loads of stairs around the eagle market over the road from the bus station
  • river gardens, courthouse, underground banks, vernon gate, derby moor.
  • down by the blacksmiths yard
  • theres a nice 3 and 4 step near storm skatepark, alvaston.its great to ollie.just walk sraight out of storm and turn a little to the right, and its there. its wicked...........
  • um yeh this is derby! 4ft miniramp at the blue dog pubgardeb down sadlergate. (24's ramp) 24 skateshop just a few more shops down and DEAD friendly, ull find ian reese there alot as wel (death, icon and 24) also donny calow seems to be hanging round alot but he is going out with claire one of the shop owners. the other is 'squiral' dont ask for real name.
  • breadsall carpark rocks lol
  • Just a little news for anyone living in the Derby area, or especially in Spondon, there is hopefully going to be a skate park built there very soon, one of the conservative councillors has been fighting for the money for it and it turns out they had it all along but they have finally decided to give it to her so it should all be starting soon. So enjoy.
  • alvaston sktepark
  • knowhere just derby storm
  • well gala bingo was cool but they gravelled the paths and railed the gaps...ruined completly! if u walk around abit youll always find people skating...join n
  • derby collage is the best theres lodes of rails slops and banks theres also a copple of waxed ledges it rules!
  • stick to derby storm or go a little further and go to the edge in leicester
  • if you follow the bike path which goes by the river there is a mojorly sweet spot under a bridge and its not crowded either!
  • green lane opposite alfy jameses big gap the silk mill hassle free ledges
  • The square near the fountain.
  • the derby storm skatepark. an amazing park for vert skaters, street skaters, spine skaters, beginners, amateurs, pro's and anyone who can or cant skate.quarter bowl, pyramid, 16' roll in, everything you could ever want, large and small and a couple of middle sizes.
  • st joe's church near town. curly rails, steps, gaps, hills, and hand rails. (good for agressive skaters)
  • somebody already said it, but STORM rocks.
  • Go too the industrial museum/river gardens whatever you want to call it its got blocks andstairs benches, and at the end of city rd (darly park) thers a well smooth surface and its got blocks there too. A couple of them are waxed up.also a place called rollersnakes (skate shop) which is near morrisons has got ramps rails blocks bench if you go there thy let you take them out.
  • There is a huge skateboard park in Normanton called the STORM extreme sports centre which is absolutely brilliant! It has a huge halfpipe and the usual fun boxes and slopes and lips and rails and everything else you need. Also an American diner!!!!!
  • Littleover Community School, on Pastures Hill has a huge variety of steps and banks, some of which have been waxed. Round the back there is an area which is lower and good stairs going down to it. Also, a super smooth car park and a variety of benches and Rails against some of the stairs.
  • that big place by the assembly rooms, im always drooling over the skaters when they're there. Why else would i sit by the fountian?
  • may 98, skatepark now open, and it's just huge!!! speak to mat/martin in peak for info Tuesday nights are usually pretty good with a good mix of people/ability..
  • Midas is the place everyone is recommending at the moment. My favourite spot currently is Darley Park, massive tarmac strips and smooth surfaces all lead to a cafe surrounded by benches that are fun to grind/jump. Morrisons is also ok, but can get boring.
  • Morrisons and Pet City on the edge of town. Morrisions has lovely curbs and bushy gaps. White Pet City has a bank and some gaps.
  • Derby is to receive a new skatepark to keep the kids from 'the Square' as the skaters call it. The park will be somewhere in Mickleover.
  • Big brick banks opposite bus station. Lots of steps/ handrails at the old market (up the road first left). Brick blocks, steps, handrail at Assembly Rooms. Steep banks under bridge (watch for 30 foot drop into river). Also benches and other dossy things.

  • Peak performance is now one of the coolest shops in the country, go in and ask for Martin the shop Manager. They stock Blueprint. Volcon, Addicts, Howies, vans, ES, Etnies, DC, Carrhart, Lord and all the cool names you can think of.
  • Peak Performance: ring up Chaz that works there he is very friendly.
Peak Performance is on Saddler Gate in the town centre and sells loads of stuff. Chaz is actually in America at the mo', so 'Dillon' is apparently the man to talk to.
  • We do have a skate shop, although I don't know the name of the road it's on... Anyway, it's up by the Bold Lane car park by The Original clothes shop.
  • We have no skateshop and as a direct result of this there are a lot of kids with beaten up boards, they like skating though and that's important.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Derby. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Derby.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
