• Anywhere but Halfords ! Holts on Nightingale Rd, Bike Shop on Monk st, Hawks in Alvaston or Samways on Ashbourne Rd are the main people.
• Holts, Nightingale Rd or Samways on Ashbourne Road for mountain bike bits. also Hawk cycles in Alvaston.
• The bike shop in monk street, BMX showroom, three storeys of road and mountainbike showrooms, good staff, you get the picture.

• Pidcocks Motorbikes are now on the outskirts of Derby - Located on Manor Road (part of the Derby Ring Road).

BMX Trails, Street Spots

• King George V playing fields at Littleover, there's a new tarmac track linking Moorway Lane to King G's field, behind the school. There's also a wooded area with slopes, jumps etc.
• There are loads of cycle paths round the city, the old Derby Canal track is great, starts on Pride Park, ends at Swarkestone. There's also a track along the old railway line from the canal at Swarkestone over to Melbourne. Allestree Park is also good for some off-road practice, but watch out for irate golfers if you wander on nice grassy areas !
• Alvaston Park or try the old Derby Canal path from Swarkestone / Chellaston, it goes all the way into town via Allenton, Alvaston & Pride Park

• In chellaston in Derby there is main street called High street go up it and turn right at a street called pit close. Go down there and go through some gates,go on to the field and there is an old quarry there that is now used for downhill and jumps. BEWARE some of these drops are very steep and you could injure yourself!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
