Cringing Cult of Celebrity (Famous residents and ex-residents.)

  • i heard roger moore used to live in trimley st mary........
  • Gryff Rhys Jones lives just accross the Orwell river
  • Ex-celebrity Michael Barrymore has a winter getaway in Felixstowe. Recent conversation overheard between Barrymore and the milkman, or was it the butcher: “You could come round the back only my passage is severely blocked.” Indeed.
  • jim bowen apparently
  • RAMASES aka Michael Raphael aka Barrington Frost, one of the most underground musicians ever and sadly missed. Nothing to cringe about here. He lived with his wife Sel in Stanley Road in the 1970s. If anyone remembers the song "Neanderthal Man" by Hotlegs (10CC) which was a big selling chart hit in 1970, then spare a thought for Ramases and Sel, as they wrote it and were ripped off to some tune (pardon the pun!). There should be a plaque of some sort dedicated to this remarkeable man who was certainly no slacker as he had been a PT instuctor and was a mercurial central-heating salesman before he had his 'vision'. Long live the spirit of RAMASES.
  • My dad is a ex ips town player. The most famous of all. And I love him to pieces...
  • Guy who rides the bike with his head on the p**s. Dog seen in front basket, apparently seen recently in a just-below-the-knee skirt shopping at Safeways.
  • Just the mad people.
  • Jim Bowen
  • ipswich town players
  • BRUSIE Hags around the triangle all day talking to taxi drivers and collecting trolly's. He's in the Guiness book of records for selling the most rafle tickets.
  • Wallace Simpson, who lived in a large house, demolished in 2000, on the clifftops overlooking the sea just before her marraige to the Prince of Wales. Her bands were posted at Ipswich Court.I do believe.
  • Ian, of Ian's Records fame was a student at Deben High School in the Seventies, Benny Hill would 'cruise' the town with a little old lady and her wheel chair.
  • John Mills was born in Felixstowe. I don't think he ever came back though.
  • Roger Miller.
  • Jeremy Kemp (most recently seen in Four Weddings), Megs Jenkins (Selwyn Frogget's mother for those who can remember), Nicholas Pandolfi (Grange Hill and a crappy Weetabix advert) and Christopher Strauli (used to go to Deben High and played the sappy git with the teddy bear in Only When I Laugh).
  • Jim Bowen (Bullseye) comes from Felixstowe.

Buskers, Street Entertainers

  • Bruce should have moved to Halifax now, but alas, i am sure you will all be happy to hear that his smell still lingers around town !
  • What are they?????? probably can't find public transport to get here.
  • The Plymouth Brethren who preach at the triangle every Saturday lunchtime. The old couple, who stink of piss, and their twenty, toe tapping tunes, banged out on a crappy Bontempi organ, again at the triangle. Finally there's Bruce, who's love for dogs is without question and who's personal hygiene is beyond reproach, also a regular at the triangle. Are they related? Probably.
  • Mad mad people, Bruce and Stella (Artois) raving alcoholic. You'll find Bruce by Tescos, every taxi driver's friend, supposedly his mum was friends with the beatles, yeah right.Famous for shouting having a scraggy beard and renowned dog lover.... There used to be Fag ash lill but, god bless her soul, she's gone to the big ash tray in the sky. Football pete, friendly chappy, always wearing an Ipswich town football shirt... Tip toe dobber head - self explanitary, bloke on bike with dog in basket, head turned to one side. Max - fantastic kebeb man. Do not go into hearts newsagent, dodgy men, asking for wine and sell dodgy cigarettes - they are mad.
  • that bloke who sells the big issue outside tescoes with his brown dog!
  • The populace is quite entertaining enough.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Felixstowe. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Felixstowe.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
