Inside Information

  • breakaway tackle....oh sorry not that sort of hook.
  • the italian bitches did not like me because i was not a slitty eyed, slitty mouthed yob out of the backstreet or alternatively i was not a jumped up molly with a plum job at BT or ICI
  • dont know too old now
  • Why do Italian women despise me,BECAUSE OF WHO MY FATHER WAS.ASK AT ST.PANCRAS CATHOLIC CHURCH in ipswich.Italian women do not like me,that is why I left ipswich,I go to mass every daybut I do so far away now.
  • Somewhere where there are NO ANGLO-ITALIAN SCUM
  • Somewhere where there are NO ANGLO-ITALIAN SCUM
  • As everyone else said, Hippy Hill, or the grandstand at Northgate Sports Centre. Still, that's not much of hook-up place, and you'll probably get in trouble...
  • ipswich is cool if you no where to go the REP is great if you like shot compertishions funny seroundings an really cheep drinks its just been descovered an is defanatly going to give the big clubs a run for there money! an has the best age grop 18 to 29 year olds also good music if you like classic dance an r&b. next edwards its been faced out but is still brilliant. stay AWAY from ZEST an LIQUID as are both full off 15 to 17 year olds they both need another good doormen company as liquid has hade police doing i.d on a friday twise before!. for a cheep place to start the night where its a good atmospher is the golden lion you mite think its a pub its boaring well go an you will fing out why you are wrong. fier an ice is good for the last place you go to as its open till 3 or 4 an your too hammered to realize how much money you just spent on one wkd!
  • Christchurch is a favourite on a sunny day. Plenty to do and you can always rely on finding a "go between man" The skate park is good until some twat decides to try and beat you up. theres alot of that flying around ipswich so be careful.
  • Vagabonds is a coffee shop just around the corner from Costa - its great for meeting and chatting to random people! Reasonably priced. Also try Hippy's Hill or outside the Town Hall
  • skatepark theres alright people over there wen u get 2 kno them
  • We used to hang around at cromwell but thats gone. dead. being built on or something. Townhall steps now seems to be the hook-up spot for the ipswich youth so if you wanna meet people go there!
  • The corn hill, by the market area. Great place to meet with your friends because it's right in the centre.
  • benches on norwich road
  • I am part of a group called "Roraract". We are 18 - 30 and socialise in the Ipswich area. We meet on Tuesday evenings and also help out at local events e.g., Martlesham village day 10.07.04 and Aldeburgh festival of light. To contact us try www.rotaract.com/ www.rotaract.co.uk
  • Christchurch Park, of course, in the Summer... ahh, hippy hill.
  • crap
  • Nowhere. Ipswich truley is shite. All you kids think it'd good? Guess again. Cromwell used to be a place to skate or ride. Now? Well, after all the ledges and benches were destroyed by the twats that starting "hanging" there, whats left? Some dry dirty banks and some 14-15 townie/skanks selling weed and looking like criminals? That's right. Bring back 1999, that's when Cromwell was a place rather than a waste. You can't walk through town after dark because some gold wearing, Burberry buying townie no brainer will try and kick the shit out you. Stabbing don;t even make the front of the Evening Star any more, there's too many of 'em. Move away people, anywhere. Except Hull.
  • I left Ipswich in '98, but I remember Kenny and Shotputt! and I'm sure I've seen the Peruvian pan-pipe mob on Cornhill. Ah, Happy days.
  • The 'fat woman' statue outside the corn exchange, we used to hang outside sitting on the statue drinking, smoking, talking, you know the kind of stuff, it used to be the regular meeting place before Indie Night.
  • Cromwell... quite obviously.
  • bolton stores, bottle of vodka, a bottle of white lightning.....venture into the gloomy depths of christchurch park....job done!!!
  • Cardinal Park
  • Not really hippy hill anymore... i wish people would tidy up after themselves! it's hard to find good hook-up spots in ipswich (same as it's hard to find decent places to go!) Cromwell's I guess, at the skate park.
  • My mates and I often hang about in costa coffee as it has a relaxed atmosphere and sells excellent coffee. We also like to muck about in christchurch park when its hot and sunny. Another place we often go is cromwell, We tend to coaxe people into giving us their pot, which is always fun. Oh.. and outside the buttermarket/tourist information, where there are benches... we often sit here and have a crafty fag when we are suppose to be in college, lol. McDonalds is also a popular hangout, although I got beaten up there, so I wouldnt advise going there after 5pm!.
  • tower ramparts shopping centre and mc donalds good hangouts for 13yrs and under but when they hit 14 they usually start hardcore clubbing.Skate park local hangout for greebos and townies alike.More observers than actual skaters tho.Nice orderly queuing for a go on the ramps!
  • hippie hill's OK every one goes there but its fucking cold in the winter also the bird reserve, and there are always peple at cromwell.
  • The chippy on old road
  • anywhere just talk to people.
  • Its gotta be hippie hill, and Cromwells good too, it's not dieing, summer is here!
  • hippy hill certainly was the place to be a few years ago ( i don't wish to appear like a suit)but now i think it has gone slowly downhill. we never used to leave busted bottles laying around and cans of butane, there was some respect for the people to follow you, and the dear old park keepers , but now when i walk my dogs over there the place is disgusting, please if you visit this hallowed place treat it nice and take your crap home.
  • Well, out side maccy d's there will either be a) the badboy tracksuits and smoking crew or B)gangs of girls wit their hair scraped back into buns with denim jackets on or c)both (most common) if you go to Christchurch park of a weekend night there will be peple with alchohol primarily bought from......... we'll call it just "bolton"for now shall we?
  • Terry the tree in Bourne Park. Summer days, playing football, using terry the tree as our hallowed goalpost. Those were the days....
  • there r usually some pretty cool people on hippy hill in the park, in the summer there's massive crowds of people, and loads of pot and beer! Cromwell square used 2 b swarming with people, but now it's just a bunch of skaky drug dealers (maybe it'll liven up again when summer returns...*sniff*) there r usually sum cool people outside hoax, and if u want 2 meet sum REAL weirdos then go 2 the town hall steps-i saw a 10 yr old boy dressed up as a terrorist there the other day.
  • Many gimps and deviants hang around outside the wolsey theartre, only go there if you smell shocking.
  • On "Grandads Wall" In ashdale road, or near the virgin cinema in greyfriaz
  • Ipswich is a really cool place. There are shops for everyone from the classy shopper to the Hippy chick. It really isn't rough at all. I og there everyday and the shops are reasonably priced, the food outlets are anundant and there are two Bowling Allies, 2 cinemas, a huge library, a massive swimming pool and Christchusrch Park is just stunning!
  • Portman Road (and I don't mean the fabulous Ipswich Town ground!). Did I just say Ipswich were fabulous, I'm sorry I must have been thinking of someone else. What was I thinking!!!
  • When the weather is good, Christcurch park. Either on 'Hippie-Hill' or in the wood of the bird reserve. One tends to find lots of stoned musicians playing under the trees. "One more journey to the woods, The holes where spirits hide. It's a never-ending battle For a peace thats always torn, Come in she said I'll give ya, Shelter from the storm." (B Dylan - Shelter from the Storm)
  • Skaters: Clayton Sports between 11 and 1 Saturday, or the big Halfords on Sunday at 1.
  • Seems to be the Buttermarket, which is rife with confused adolescents drinking out of brown paperbags and laughing too much before they start harrassing passers-by. AVOID the lane next to the Buttermarket (which leads from the Ancient house to the Old Cattlemarket Bus Station) as much as is possible on Friday and Saturday nights after 5.00pm. Not a nice place to be...

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Ipswich. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Ipswich.

If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
