Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
Ooooooh, where to begin??? All the main chains are here.
hoax- not such a class place but cool people
new fashion looks
t.k.max good cheap clothing in the buttermarket.
Ipswich is not too bad for clothes shopping, much better from Dartford where I come from!
Second-hand clothes - small, but stuffed with quality 2nd hand gear - The Dress Circle (gives Student Discounts!)
moons and the purple shop both sell pretty cool stuff, and every month there's an alternative clothing sale in the town hall, which sells loads of cheap, unusual stuff. but apart from that it's better going 2 sum where like camden market 4 wacky stuff. 4 the mainstream shopper, we have topshop, miss selfridge, warehouse, oasis, gap, next, new look etc etc etc.......
Hoax(pretty cool, but heavily worn by 10-year-olds).
Rude(a good all-round shop).
Shore-thing( again, a good-shop but Matts a bit grumpy when it comes to post-purchase service).
Hoax, madhouse
Millions!!!! Ipswich is undergoing major expansion, we're getting a bigger Next, Gap and Monsoon at the mo!
West World Womens Clothes shop - part of a group of shops in ipswich selling mens womens and childrens clothes, and also has a leather shop. All the latest fashions at brilliant prices. You can easily get three outfits for £50.
lots of second hand shops and brilliant car-boot sales; TK MAXX has just openend and is worth a look.
The less said about shops the better - if you like 'Top Shop' or 'Etams' then you're made, if you don't - go to Colchester or Cambridge. There are a few good shops however, popping up, but if I tell you the names, this'll be out of date in a couple of weeks 'cos they don't tend to hang around very long. One thing is good in Ipswich though, shopping-wise - is the second-hand shops - there's a good selection.
Second-hand clothes: Serendipity, 2nd Vision, both excellent. New Era is good for fat jeans and shorts. Littlewoods are good for rad stripey tops and fat blue jeans and C & A are good for tops too. Aurora and the Purple Shop are good clothes shops.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
The Basement Gallery - a new photography and digital art gallery at 11 Elm Street and 12-14 Princes Street
Christchurch Mansion ain't bad.
Brook Craft Market just down the road from McDonalds!!
I wish we had a decent art gallery in Ippo- but alas, we do not...
The purple shop is hardly inconspicuous being a shop painted purple on the corner of a road but it is small and full of al sorts of interesting things. There is also Evolution and one opposite which i cant remember the name of. Also for those with a little local knowlege down the steet leading from Macdonnalds to BHS is BCM (Brook Craft Market) a fav of mine since being a kid full of loads crafty stuff and nice gifts.
For good galleries try Christchurch mansion. sometimes in tourist info...also suffolk college sometimes has exhibitions
There are some pretty paintings on the wall of Vagabonds cafe... but don't come to Ipswich expecting 'culture'. We're too backward for any of that. We don't even have a Starbucks yet.
BCM sells craft stuff. So does the range but thats outta town. The college has an art department? The corn exchange has the odd art show. Not a lot goes on here tho.
Brook Craft Market rocks!!!!
Nancys tinkering shop on old crump road
the town is full of little gallery's and art shops just come in and walk around.
Haste Gallery
Foxgloves - 63 St Matthews Street - Wide range of dolls houses, dolls, bears, tin plate toys, models and gifts etc
For this kind of thing you should go to Woodbridge really. It's not far from Ipswich and it's much better and interesting for kraft and these kinds of things.
The city is quite pretty and small as well, but really quiet. It's good when it's sunny and only half an hour from Ipswich by bus.
Sacred Earth, Orwell Street - great little shop for Pagan supplies.
The Purple Shop is about the only place otherwise forget it and go to Colchester.
There is a really good craft market (BCS - British Craft Market) in The Walk in the centre of town. It holds everything you need from Candle making to do it yourself Xmas crackers etc
Magazine and Comic Shops
There is a new sci-fi shop in Norwich Road sells all that kind of stuff.(opposite SK8)
The Comic Shop in Eagle street. It`s the tops, in fact it`s the only one
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
