Record Shops
I get all my records from soundscape they sell s/hand stuff that you cant get in other shops.
theres a new HMV opened in town centre, its pretty big and hay mark owen opened it up last week. buzzin.. :|
Used to be good secondhand shop in Shifnal but it shut last year, as far as i know rest are the usuual chains
Langlands Independant record shop, Wellington
HMV has a really good selection of back catalogue (Non Chart) for a shop of it's size (especially the "Metal" section)
HMV in the Town Centre
There is a stall outside the town centre on a saturday daytime that does second hand cd's and records.
dont go to hmv its bloody dear
There is also a HMV in the town centre.
Woolies does The Jam for cheap and 80s chart compilations for genuine groovers.
Our Price is now a Virgin Record Store - av prices
Langland Records in Wellington - good for old/rare rock stuff, but expensive for new stuff.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
soo the shithole athena closed down thank god, glassed ratings have likey gone down.. 1st floor has now been converted into the COCOA LOUNGE in OAKENGATES, havnt been in there yet but apparantly its pretty good as ID is essential so u dont get the 15 yr old turds.
42's in OAKENGATES is okay, hotspot for desperate chavs though.
BRILEIGHS is good in OAKENGATES pay a pound on a thursday n ladies drink free from 9pm-11pm but on a saturday its a fiver, and the bouncer with the ginger hair n misery face is mean so BRING ID.
no one mentioned NAUGHTY NELLS in SHIFNAL. its rubbish and DESTINY...in wellington... scuttsville.no go area if ur not a druggie.
Most of the clubs in your other contributions have closed changed.
Athena (That replaced Cascades has now gone so there is nothing at all in Town centre)
42s - that is it! really bad and v overpriced £8 to get in!
Air Training Corps, at the TA Centre at Dawley Bank, you can go flying shooting camping play sports and gain BTEC's
Telford isnt well endowed for decent night clubs, you have Athena in Telford Town Centre, but Oakengates is the 'clubbing' capital of Telford with the likes of Bar 42, Brileighs, First Floor etc
athena night club! whats goin on the place is a complete dive a meeting place for the scum of telford! full of idiots and dirty tarts who clearly shop at the market! the place needs to be knocked down like right now !
Its enough trouble getting in the poxy places then all you wanna do it get bloody out
idiots. Telford does have clubs, just 3 mind u and they are all wank especially 42nd street in Oakengates. Athen is just as bad. and Rumours is off the scale
42`s oakengates
Athena is a good cheap nite - Thursdays= £7 wristband for ladies & drink free all nite.
i hate athena, what a sh*thole complete dive and all the men are slappers and way too easy
Athena---- Quality on a thursday night with 14? pound and all your drinks thrown in.
RUMOURS NIGHTCLUB- will live forever
Rumours Night Club...A friendly night club at the Market Approach Wellington Telford....Not exactly 'The Ritz' but compared to all the other Clubs in Telford it offers a friendly atmosphere with up to date music. Friendly Bouncers who make you feel at home and welcome not forgetting Cheap Ale..As long as your night a trouble maker and fancy a good time ..would highly reccomend
There seem to be quite a few kids going to Athena lately. If your going there to pull it's advisable to check that they are of a legal age! You get the odd fit bloke there - every few weeks one stumbles in by accident. Expect the traditional glassing every Friday night.
Woohoo! Update this page, Athena has been open in central square for almost two years. Nightlife in Telford is crap but improving, needs more town centre clubs.
The best night club iv been to is in wolvahampton! however tumours i mean rumours is ok if ur completely wasted before entry, all the sad old people go to 42nd street and all the desperate 16yr old go to Athena!
No one has mentioned 42nd street yet!!! Its in Oakengates... its alrite, its got a shitty building but is full of slags which is good.. the music is alrite and its a good place to go if ur looking for fights
I am the son of the owners of rumours nightclub telford. The information you have is completely wrong. On a Friday night it is £3.50 before 10pm and £4.50 afterwards on a saturday night it is £3 before 10pm and £4 afterwards. Rumours has a strict policy on underage drinkers and anyone who has no identification to prove their age is not permitted. Rumours also has a strict dress code which is casual but smart, there are no trainers or sportsware. I would appreciate it if the comments made about Rumours were changed and the real facts were placed in. Thank you.
NEW ATHENA!!!!! where Cascades used to be in telford town centre!!!.... definately worth a visit if you love cheesy dance and pop music!
and avoid Rumours at all costs..... go to one of the hundreds of pubs instead (wellington)!!!
oh yeah and there is 42nd Street in Oakengates to visit if ur too youthfull looking for Athena!
If your are into clubbing avoid Telford like the plague. I was warned against Rumours at 14 and foolishly believed it may have changed many years later, i was wrong, it is so full of wankers you literally stick to the carpet and the bouncers are twats who turn you away because a) they dont like your jacket, or b) because you like like you were born with an I.Q of more than 17(the average for Telford) and therefore have a chance of escaping while they are trapped there for the rest of their miserable little lives. And, no, i'm not bitter it wasn't me who was turned away but i wish it had been.
Rumours is getting better slowly. Even though the bouncers probably never will! But i do give credit for the lack of violence that goes on there. That's mostly because you only have to look at someone wrong and you get kicked out.I spend most weekends getting pissed and dancing away to the tunes, which may i add have got better, and i do have a laugh. I'm not saying it's the best club in Telford because it'd not but i don't see any reason why you shouldn't go there. There's still the couple of 16 year old slappers but there nothing to worry about as there's more plenty good looking lads and gals goin there now.If you're going to come and get pissed in Roumours make sure you don't get there to early though. The pubs i usually go to first are The Red Lion, The Charlton or Rasputins as they are the most popular and best places to go if your on the pull!
erm......42nd street (sleazy), snooker centre (basically a farmyard), rumours (place for fighting, overpriced drinks and catching foul diseases from toilet seats) and athena (the old cascades, cant be that good beppe from eastenders keeps trying to get out of going there)
Ok so the clubs in telford arnt comparable to Cream or Ministry of sound, but just by going in them your not going to get your head kicked in, i agree bouncers are dickheads, they are dickheads all over the UK, thats what bouncer do. It stikes me that the people who complain about the violence seem to attract it more than those who dont complian and make a big thing of it.
Ive been to every (its not hard) club in telford and have never been, punched, stabbed, glassed, raped etc.
Because I, like a few (a dying breed it seems) other reasonably intelligent people dont go looking for trouble.
By the way Cascades is re-opening as ATHENA and a another club is due to open in oakengates.
Cally is open till 2am fri and sat too.
Rumours - the sticky steps as we call it. It's fucking bollocks and the bouncers are wankers who can turn you away for no reason atall and charge £6 entry Fri/Sat - (all to do with supply & demand)!! Don't go there unless you want to end up shagging a fat ugly, spotty, 16 year old Kappa slapper in the Churchyard in Wellington! Students who come home from Uni tend to go here out of boredom in Summer, Xmas & Easter - avoid at all other times!!!!!
KNIGHTS nightclub is not in Telford it is actually well over 30 miles away in Kidderminster.
Telford has no clubs of it's own though as they have all been shut down due to underage drinking, drugs or violence.
You could count the ICE HOUSE as one maybe but you only really go there if you want to get your head kicked in, not my idea of a great night out.
Alright.. Cascades closed down about 3 years ago..
since then Oakengates has had a new nightclub called the Planet (where the snooker center was)
Hotshots took over the bowling Alley.. they became a night club but last june lost their late liscence
Most people go clubbing in Wolverhampton, Stafford or Shrewsbury
Far too many - Mirage rules, Knights is so, so, so shit! If you are past it then yes, maybe. Also TIME, which has people who are sad of eastenders!
Telford has new club opening in Wellington soon, same as Cascades. But for classic indie tracks go to the Fridge in Shrewsbury on a Friday.
Cascades Club in town centre for Kevs and others with a death wish. Roar Club in Wellington for ravers. In Ironbridge try the White Heart pub on the river front for good music. Deep Pan Pizza and UCI cinema a good night at Telford. Enter Broseley pubs at your peril.
Live Music Venues
The Bridge pub, Newport

The haygate in wellington puts on live bands all the time. Mostly rock.
Brileighs Club in Oakengates is a good music venue too.
The Haygate in Wellington. Wednesday nights are gig nights with local bands playing live. (The Nine Livez being one of my personal favourites) Drinks are reasonably priced and it's great for moshing, dancing, or just plain listening to.
Oakengates Theatre is now sponsoring the Next Big Gigs please see http://www.nextbiggig.com for more details.
well the haygate pub in wellington has gigs every saturday and some wednesdays. mostly free to get in, and only local bands playin there, but its cool and has a lil moshpit at the front
The Millhouse pub (near Telford Town Centre) and The Haygate pub in Wellington both have regular live rock bands

Telford Students' Union bar on the Priorslee Campus hosts some of the best Live Music in the area from local and national bands. The Most Amazing Saturday Night Out for good live music in the area for £1.50! Contact Chris Payne on LivebandswithMorq@hotmail.com for more information.
Malt House in Ironbridge - the live music in there is always class!
FUSION Was OK if it wasnt for the TOTAL UGLY SO CALLED YOUTH WORKER JEAN HARTSHONE!! I think TYSON must have beat her & bit her , he's not brave enough to have shagged IT
Aint none apart for cacky wanabee bands in pubs
birmingham nec
fusion!! there are little gigs in madely court, but there is one main festival
every year. unmissable. for grebs, hippies and the likes. no wannabes allowed
though!
If your into irish music The Boat in Ironbridge is fantastic (i think its on a Thursday). The Swan used to be good but its reputation for 'remarkably young patrons' meant it was closed down. Also Madely has a music festival in the summer called 'Fusion' every summer, i went last year and its ..ummmm... interesting. I have to say look out for 'Fleabitten' and 'Hatework' as they are my brothers mates.
go to mcdonalds at wellington retail park, there you will find lots of kevins blaring out the vengaboys on their kenwood 6 x 9's in their ridiculously customised nova sr's
The Malthouse at Ironbridge is wicked! nuff said
None apart from the poor excuse for a leisure centre - the glades
First Base in Wolverhampton put on free buses from Wellington.
