Great new rock,Goth and alternative clothes and gear at Howlin Rock,Jaxons Court, Realistic prices and loads of cool stuff. We now have a decent shop in Wigan!
The Body Shop, Desire, Cass - everyday and clubwear. Cass is an original clothing store too!
Jacksons the Tailors you could get a barathea with dragon fly blue or crimson lining with 18 inch vents up the back. It looked like you'd been in an accident.
Duffer
Alans
PRIMARK!
jjb in the local retail park what a joke that place is have u seen the clothes they sell in there no wonder there so cheap come on guys u all u know u own at least one item of clothing from jjb
the only clothes shops in wigan are oxfam and netto, although you do sometimes see wiganers (pie eatin scum) make an effort by wearing stiggy rags
Er...none
Respect to Quest for selling nasty Cheetham Hill clothes with fake badges sewn in...Hey Panda, if the peasants fall for it....fuck em!
Wigan Wallgate station. Get on the train to Manchester, get yourself some super cool Converse from Schue, some rock paraphanalia from Afflecks Palace and a nice three piece suit and a silk scarf from Slaters. Go dandy you know you want to.

I have just been informed from the woman that if you are australian the secondhand shops in town are the best place to find a bargain especially as nobody knew her so she wasnt bothered
international and river island have great sales!
scotts, duffer, kapo, desire, n that sports stall on the market, first sport n jds
alans
V2 - best place for designer waer such as Versace and they have sales quite often. They mostly sell one of everything so you dont look like everyone else.
Alans certainly has cool clothees but if you don't have lots of money then it isn't the place to go. charity shops are ace you can find all sorts of cool stuff in there the other day i got a metallica t-shirt for £1.49 the same one sweaty ste sells at £10. most of the stuff is brand new in charity shops so you should look there first before makin any quick buys at ste's or alans.
Loads of em in the Galleries indoor shopping centre
v2, duffer, rip rap (oops, dr kruger), zen or sod it and go to manchester / liverpool cos if you buy anything in wigan half of the town will have it on on saturday night
desire, scotts, duffer
Zen. That's it. Pricey but not bad. V2 and the rest are in a word shit.
Alternative clothing? The market has some decent baggy pants these days, but otherwise... Alans and Stolen from Ivor - plus Maelstrom
cass, quest, virus, are all the good shop's if you want club wear
Desire is one of the best for good clubby and casual - not v. expensive either. Can't really think of anywhere else.
Nothing outstanding IMO. The same as the rest.
Alan's can probably account for half of my wardrobe. Always on the ball and nothing priced in a manner to make one fill one's pants.
Look around the town! No wonder the Charity shop's open on Sunday's when the locals still wear Hi Tec Silver Shadows, Lumberjack coats and go shopping on Raleigh Grifters.
Oxfam, for the man who doesn't have to (or can't afford to) try too hard!
C & A in the centre of town and if you wanted to pay a mint, JOAN BARRIES or Lowes but not exactly the height of fashion....just places to empty your wallet. Lowes was the only place you could buy the Girls High School uniform. The first jacket my sister was bought in 1964 cost a staggering £40!!!!
Stolen From Ivor = Scally Central
None worth a carrot, but I'm one of the Maximes rock crowd, so I would say that!!
Alans
None. Go to Affleck's in Manchester
FOCUS 10 CLOTHING, 7 WALLGATE
SELLS COOL BRANDED STREETWEAR
TOP BRANDS LIKE QUIKSILVER, O'NEILL, FRED PERRY, KICKERS, LEVIS, PODS, ANIMAL AND AIRWALK.
Rip-Rap still the best in town.
Oxfam
Zen: a top clothes shop that sell good designer stuff.
Rip Rap, Oxygen, Next, River Island, etc.
Alans in Mesnes Street (Raggy, Headworx, Droors, X Large, Fuct, Siesta, Lord, Vans, Duffs, Converse, Airwalk, etc.)
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
Pastimes art and craft shop in Ashton is full of cool and useful stuff - not expensive and if you need any help with anything the lady there can help with most stuff. On the 600 bus route from Wigan.
Drumcroon's a cool art gallery. And is also a craft shop.
Drumcroon Art Gallery
theres a crappy thing at haigh hall
there is no art what so ever in wigan no matter what any one tells u there is simply none at all!
Not brilliant really, Times Craft is expensive but well stocked
haigh hall.
I went to Drumcroom Art gallery when i were in primary skewl, i wonder if its still crap?
the tudor tries to make out they're an arthouse crowd but it's a lie they like football and little kids! Says it all!
There's a good crafts shop next to Alans..
haigh hall
Drumcroon opp. Wigan College and nr. Mesnes Park. The Culture Cap. of this dreary town.
Drama school auditions? Help and advice about which Drama School, which peices to do,coaching on the selected peices, grants and scholarships, problems with Shakespeare etc. etc.
Where do you turn for help if you live in Wigan and want to become an actor?
01942 495364
(teacher with loads of past students now working in TV, theatre, film etc.all of whom went to major UK Drama Schools)
Bring back the Summer Show held in Mesnes Park......local talent was second to none. Dunt seem to be any real showcases anymore...big shame...and the Haigh Hall events seem to have drifted away.....shame.
Drumcroon was Top of the Pops but that was then.
Times Craft- You Have now entered the twilight Zone!! Next to Alans skate and Records, too!!
Mobile Resoucre Centre. Cadge beg and recycle unwanted scrap from local business and then sell it on to mad artists schools anyone who's into Bluepeter sticky back plastic!Contact children's library upstairs in the Playroom for more info
Wigan little theatre, Crompton Street. A fablulous late Victorian Theatre beautifully maintained. A small intimate auditorium. Usually providing a varied season of plays from Sept to June. From Agatha Christie to Shakespeare. Tickets £6.00 ( concs. nights ) Standard - also varied. Can be be church hall-ish but can also be a brilliant night out. Very nice bar - open after the performance.
Drumcroon is really good. It's next to Wigan and Leigh College (formaly know as Wigan tech).
Lots to see and do at Haigh Hall Stables Centre. They also have Craft Fairs every month as do Wigan Pier.
Magazine and Comic Shops
WH Smith in Bolton
ALANS
Smiths of Wigan is definatly better than any chain stors such as WHSMITH.
WH Smiths sell a few of them things
the "adult" section at the market store near morrisons
The newsagents. 'A Wigan Reporter and a copy of The Pie Eater please mate!'
There used to be an excellent pornographic magazine shop in Hindley.
Smiths have loadsa kiddie comics and every magazine and almost every book... but for proper independant comics, marvel & DC - WallPaper Supplies have a damned good (fairly priced) comic shop which sells allsorts of other related things! I must have every Spider-Man comic there is from that place.
wallaper supplies
Alpha Omega Comics, in wallpaper supplies on libary street i think
across from the swiming baths. You will be hard pushed to find a better comic shop in the north of england. Well worth a visit!!
Good comic shop in the Galleries. Can't think of the exact name! Something to do with Warriors and Rugby League, you'll find it. Follow the stench of failure
Got to be Smiths of Wigan in the little arcade!!
I mail order my publications - saves the embarassment.
Comic shop near the baths!
