Musical Instrument Shops and DJ Gear

  • cash converters
  • sound control, I get all my drum gear from their, its a big place and gets busy but the drum staff always have time for you. cant comment about the other sections as i dont use them. Music cellar and Rimmers tend to be more classical based stores but you sometimes find some good stuff in them.
  • Sound Control - Awesome, Everything you'll ever need. Probably. Guitars... Drums... Synths... Electronics... bass's... PA systems, its got it all. Acoustics there are of a high quality. (Off Friargate Near Scene) The Music Cellar. Sells classical instruments, but still has good guitars, and bass's
  • Music Cellar on Fox Street, for the more "mature" musician, catering for brass, woodwind, pianos etc etc. They know their stuff and sell a wicked cheapo harmonica that rocks! Sadly only available in the key of C!
  • The music cellar.....great shop
  • Rimmers, a few others. Seriously, I don'tknow this town as well as I thought...
  • Rimmers Music off Friargate. Small chain but has most things you could need.
  • Acadamy of sound on friergate (just by scene skateshop) googd range of guitars drums and keyboards. for more classical instuments check out the music box. its on a little road off fishergate can't remember the name of the road, it's the one after lune street
  • Rimmers, or the music cellar. Rimmers is on church street near action, I forget where the music cellar is!
  • church street preston
  • A1 music centre in the City centre, a cool place to visit with great staff who actually play instruments!
  • The Music Cellar on fleet Stree but watch out for the tramps hangin about by th drop in place.
  • HAMILTON ORGANS on Blackpool Road in Lea - preston, sells everything u can think of drum kits, guitars, woodwind, brass, keyboards, PA etc it even does music lessons. Its a lot better than the likes of rimmers and music academy - it will even beat them on price!
  • Rimmers in Leyland
  • theres one on church street, but I forget its name. The music cellar is where my sister goes for brass band supplies.
  • Rimmers Music and also a big one down some side street near Andrew Cok Lighting.
  • A shop in the Chorley market.
  • RIMMERS MUSIC
  • The music cellar Academy of sound - also a cool place to hang out
  • A1 Music off Friargate
  • Don't ever go to Rimmer's they are really stuck up and will only even consider letting you try the gear if you look like you carry platinum credit cards about with you. A1 on Fishergate Hill is far better and the guys in there are really friendly and informative to boot
  • A1 music - rocks!
  • music cellar fox street, rimmers church street
  • Rimmers is REALLY awful. The Music Cellar on Fox Street is great for everything eg,all instruments (including guitars) and LOADS of sheet music.A1 (near to Office World) is probably the best place for Guitars and Drums. They sell keyboards as well.Just DONT under any circumstances go into Rimmers!
  • Ther are many music shops the best one I now of is rimmers on Church st
  • check out assembly line studios for every thing you need to Know 01772794433
  • Okay - we've got A1 music, just off Friargate... Rimmers music, on church street roughly opposite Arrabella's..

Recording Studios, Rehearsal Rooms, PA Hire

  • brookfield space place has a recording studio but you wont get any studio time always full of chavs trying 2 rap why do chavs think they have anything 2do with hip hop most of them are racist
  • The mill. Mmm, very local, bit dodgy as in stuff frequently goes missing and bands tend to fight amongst them selves. Very noisy as you can imagine with thirty bands throwing out tunes all day and night and no soundproofing. dont know about oysten as ive only once been in.
  • Bright Blue Studios in Ulverston, South Cumbria is excellent. About an hour away, but well worth the trip. I've been there and was really impressed.
  • West orange is a really good studio, i've heard a few records that have been recorded there and they sound competent enough. however i don't know where it is so your on your own trying to find it
  • ABC Recording Studios Little Hoole Preston http://www.abcrecordingstudios.co.uk Huge 80sq.m Live area
  • Theres some rooms that can be booked for band rehersals next to the mill night club on Aquaduct street.
  • contact the boys at www.prestonvibe.co.uk theyll know.....

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Preston. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Preston.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
