The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
Category: Meditation
Could you please consider including a link to our website or providing information about our services on your site.
We are a Buddhist Meditation Centre called Vajravarahi Buddhist Centre.
At present, we provide basic meditation classes in Preston, Blackburn, Chorley, Croston, Kirkham & Ormskirk. No exprerience is necessary & everyone is welcome (especially really stressed out bods).
We provide two other more advanced study programmes here at the Centre for those who want to practice meditation at a deeper level. We have three meditation rooms, a beautiful garden & we are working on providing a 'World Peace Cafe' in the future.
We aim to help everyone (including skateboarders 'n' stuff) to find spiritual & mental well being, & peace & happines in their lives. We have no interest in increasing the number of Buddhists in the area.
Our contact details are:
Vajravarahi Buddhist Centre, 38 West Cliff, Preston, PR1 8HU.
Tel: 01772 259 094, Email: info@meditationinlancs.org, Web: www.meditationinlancs.org
Please let us know of any other sites you may be aware of that we may be able to contact.
With thanks
Kelsang Yeshe (Budhhist nun who has no idea where skateboarders hang out in Preston & has contacted this site in a last ditch attempt to get some free publicity!)

The University is one of the most successful in the UK with more than 25,000 students.
There is definitely an air of excitement in Preston nowadays on the 'alternative' side of things. We've got some brilliant bands, excellent venues, and it all seems to be getting better!
try to avoid old people at bus stops or shop or when paying bills in fact anyone who pays with ever 2p they have, its bloody infuriating and they always seem to find me and make me late.
Also moshers should not enter into brookfield moor nook or ribbleton in general due to the number of tracksuited brain dead idiots enless they wish to eradicate a few of the said people, please do.
Preston is a city that is constantly improving and is looking towards a great future. New projects are taking place all the time and there is sooo much enthusiasm.

If you remember the old St George's Centre car park (before it was condemned, demolished and rebuilt) you may remember the 7 foot high dragon that adorned the side of it. Why was it never put back up on the new car park? Dunno, but we found the blimmin thing last week when tidying out some newly rented premises and now its in my back garden... wooooo!
DRUG DEALERS PHONE NUMBERS (ANTI-NIMROD CREW)
Preston is now a City , honest! Not really quite there yet , but it has the potential if the right development takes place. There are plans for this.Lets hope they come to fruition!
Recently aquired city status explains why my council tax increased by something like 2.5 times the rate of inflation .....
The small townies asking you to "crash 'em a pound for v bus cha" have usually just scrounged a tenner from there mum, who has dropped them offround the corner.
Preston was granted city status in March 2002, ahead of 25 other contenders,as part of The Queens Golden Jubilee celebrations
Noodles at Night...at The Tea Bar in Lancaster Road. The only Chinese Take-away in Central Preston, the only one that offers eat in at take away prices and the best Chinese/Cantonese and Noodle bar Menu for miles.
The coolest Internet & LAN cafe in Preston (possibly the whole north west is Lanzone on Lancaster Road. Cool multi-player games, fast Internet access, snacks & drinks. Nice people, friendly place. Open from 11am (ish), sometimes later til 10:00pm (sometimes later) seven days a week.
Willie Banjos. Its opposite St. Georges, behind a small shop. Selling pipes, bongs and other smoking equiptment...worth a visit.
. Biggest thing has to be "Preston Guild" celebrations dating from 14th century. Present day Guild events include religeous, trade & fun prosessions, fairs, exibitions, street parties, firework displays etc. etc. usualy held during September, but dont hold your breath -its only every 20 years and the next is in 2012.
. "Carribean Carnival" every Spring Bank holiday Monday around the Deepdale district of town is reputed to be largest of its kind outside London.
Preston is much better than Leyland
Preston has the largest civilian cemetery in Europe.
I honestly have tried to like the place. I travel there every day to work. But I've got to say it: it really is the most awful town I have ever encountered. That main street where all the shops are: you just try walking down there without some ignoramus banging right into you AND NOT EVEN KNOWING THEY'VE DONE IT! Why does everyone wander around with their mouths open? The pubs are a waking nightmare, the clubs even worse. I could go on.................
lot's of students - be warned
Both the Young Pretender and the Old Pretender were crowned as Kings of England on the old flag market.
Check out the body piercing place underneath the Zoo on Derby St. behind action records. Run by Hugh and Kristen, it offers one of the best and friendly piercing and after care services I have come across. Then again, I did most of mine meself.
Additional info on the gas lighter man- his prices fluctuate with economic conditions- presently I believe them to be 5 a pound, recovering from the al time low of 6 apound. Sometimes he diverges into socks and elastoplast.
be kind to the crusties---they may kick your ass if you discriminate but it is usually justified
too many trendies have given them shit in the past but sometimes learn their lessons
besides, they may have dreds but are pretty cool people
The red light district currently appears to be situated on Deepdale Road, near the prison - so if you live in view of it you can play the Whorespotting game.
Temperance movement was started in Preston .... Charles Dickens stayed in the Bull and Royal during the mill strikes last century and based his book Hard Times on what he saw.
Big University glorying in the name of Central Lancashire. Former poly so an unusually wide range of courses on offer.
It is exactly 200 miles from Glasgow and 200 miles from London.
Preston is the administrative centre for all Lancashire. The Lancashire County Council Offices are here. As are the Lancashire records office etc.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
