Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
pretty mundane really- usual high street stores such as next topman and burtons. there is the odd specialise shop though
Top Man, To Die In & various market shops selling chip-bag scented poorly made crap.
None, Leeds has picnhed them all. Besides, bradford city centre shops cant survive because of all the racial tension, drug addicts thieving and the huge increase in retail crime. Go to White Rose, there's loads happening.
Great if you want to pretend it's 1995, wearing Rockport boots, Henri LLoyd pants and stripy Rockport jumpers - the epitimy of cool!
It's got to be River Island......The River island in Bradford is the best one I've ever been in.
miss selfridge and new look are the best shops to got to.
John Street market is cheap, but not somewhere you enjoy being dragged around by your mum when your in your teens. A unique experience.
TKMaxx for super-cheap branded clobber, otherwise Leeds is your best bet - from a blokes point of view anyway
Go to Leeds, please.
TDF (To Die for) big selection big prices!!!!
Jollys: just for the amazing up-market tarts. And the cafe is surprisingly cheap.
top man
River Island - very good trendy gear
ROCKS OFF,ADAMS,DISCOVERY AND OTHERS
If you want to fit in go to John Street Market or Top Man which incidently is where most of the women in Bradford also shop
Rocks off-a skate shop, only three in the world. Bradford, Huddersfield and Germany!!
It had cool clothes ,lables like Mambo etc.. Band shirdts, reccords trainers ,cd's posters Etc..
It also sells gig tickets. Plus a little shop further down the road from it called Discovery. It's a mix between Rocks Off and Cbgb's.
I honestly didn't know they had clothes shops in Bradford, unless of course one's dress sense stretches to 'what everybody else wears on a Friday night down at Maestros'.
Try CBGBs on Westgate - good selection, pretty cheap.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
The Conservatory Factory on Sticker Lane in Bradford is an excellent Pvcu manufacturing company offering fantastic prices on windows, doors and conservatories. Don't put up with high retail prices...buy direct from the manufacturer and save £1000's! Call us on 01274 661636 for a free information pack.
Salt's Mill. Home of David Hockney from Bradford also. He is often found hanging out with Fineapple
Cartright hall...a must see to visitors, the film and photography museum, its gone all technological.
Go to Cartwright Hall in Lister Park, it's a very nice place. Definitely go to the National Musuem of Film and Photography, it's class, especially the recent "Bond, James Bond" exhibition.
Unless you can call the PoundShop one...
Regular art exhibitions at Cartwright Hall.
South Square in Thornton - see the craftsmen at work.
Saltaire Mill area.
Hockney Gallery in Saltaire well worth a look. Cartwright Hall if they ever get it finished.
Bath Fringe Festival - getting better and better. May 2001
The Craft square - Thornton
Bluestar Models on Westgate in Cleckheaton is the model railway shop it's also at www.bluestar-models.co.uk
cbgb's for hippy stuff and general cool junk.
NATIONAL MUSEUM,COLOUR MUESUM AND BRADFORD GALLERY
Baildon Craft centre - ok its out of Bradford (5miles) but its where I am from adn you can find the odd bargain there
Bradford is awash with arts and crafts - it just calls it life.
Magazine and Comic Shops
Upstairs at Nashers 9great records..)
Theres one on that street...I cant remember what its called. Walk up Darley Street and at Sugg Sport turn right. Theres one down there.
Private Lines Manningham Lane!
The 'funny sweet shop' located in Centenary square - there is lovely man that works there who is very chatty to customers and always brightens the day!
Sells everything a sweet/magazine shop sells!! Go there!!!
Twilight zone has more stuff than they have room for and the kind of personal service you never get at Forbidden Planet. I got a Christmas card from them last year.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
