Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
All the clothes shops in carlisle are purely dedicated to charvas.
The usual - Arcadia group stuff.
Head in the general direction of Room 25 on Bank Street. Watch yourself though, they'll expect a good credit rating just to look through the window.
If you can find a way in to House of Fraser (Binns as everyone still knows it) past the Perfume counter, they have some decent stuff
I'm still looking for a decent one!
Oxfam
room 26 is not the same since that cheeky chappie paul tombo left!!!!
original shoe- lanes great place.
New shopping centre in Gretna - cost about £2 day return from carlisle - discounts on really top class designer clothing - worth checking out!!!
Raggz, Treasury Court where a t-shirt costs £40 Raggz is moving to a larger premises on Bank Street, where the Leeds used to be. It's name is getting changed to ROOM 26, and will be stocking even more great clothes according to the paper. It was looking fairly smart but it wasn't open when I went back to Uni.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
local cottage industries are in decline since the demise of raffles, check out botcherby for all the wiered and strange!

There's an art college. But let's not talk about that. Those art students think they own the town - and it'd be a fuck sight better if they did.

Nice "arty" gifts in the Tullie House shop and at The Castle
Church with the plaque about Woodrow Wilson is on Lowther Streeet
I'm not going to give a list because there is only one worth going to - Alternatives (Opposite Buskers): This place is getting larger every time I see it... it is spreading through the Kennedy Centre like a very welcome ooze. It has every thing from silly little stocking fillers to fine art prints, picture frames, funny inventions, lavalamps and optical fibres, wierd lamps, cool hippy-Indie type clothes, fine coloured glass, scented candles and extravagent holders, friendship bracelets, rugs, trows, cushions, mirrors, wood carvings, chairs, hammocks, bamboo blinds and excellent cards for every occasion and every style.
If you've got time, you could go to FIona habbicks under the Town Hall... but it's very, very much more expensive!!
Magazine and Comic Shops
one again on botchergate, Imagination Station i think i't called
the private shop down botch.
Imagination Station on Botchergate
Imagination Station on Botchergate sells your posh yank comics, besides that you've got your usual selection of WHSmith etc.
Newsagents next to Argos. For people in the city - have you ever noticed the huge amount of 'adult' magazines there are??? If you are as lucky as i was, the owner, Mike, will bend over and reveal his nice builders bum to the world! Regular shoppers to this establishment might have noticed that there are many people who hang around this shop - this is what the sad people of Carlisle do!
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
