  • In morton, on landrigg road theres a church that has a 4 set and 5 set with ledges its amazin, and theres a sort of bank round the back not very steep though.Theres a 2 set round the back of civic centre, dont go at lunchtime some random fat council guy/girl will come and tell you to fuck off. The skateparks ok, loads of people come down from scotland on weekends too and they help ya with stuff.theres a 2set in front of the chippy and 'coral' near blockbusters in morton, carefull of chances park though loads of townies hang there.... (lol) theres a double 15 set with handrails, but dont skate there, unless youre a pro, which is near the bus srop near the market. outside debenhams theres a set that goes round in a circle, has about 6 inches of skate traps tho so you need a far ollie and it goes from a 2 set to a 7. theres benches in town, make sure no ones sitting on them though they might not like you and theres a monument near gamestation where everyone goes at night when its dark, its mad eof marble, pretty good for slides..... and theres some nice cerbs at trinity school in the lower school library car park, as well as a little drain gap.Theres two 4sets there and a 6 set, lots of waxed ledges next to the geography classroom(wax courtesy of me;) and a lot of smooth ground for your runs. Tullie house has loads of stuff like a 3 ft ledge with practically infinite runup, loads of 1 ft stepups that are waxed, a marble subway for rainy days, but pretty shit cos of the words inscribed into the floor, go there to see. Finally theres a car park at dfs, with loads of gaps over flower planters, manual cerb gaps and waxed cerbs, (courtesy of me,alex and jay;) and thats right near trinity school

All the supermarkets where curbs can be waxxed Wetheral, just outside of carlisle has just given birth to a group of skaters..and there are some fuckin good spots there Next to wetheral...great corby, just over the viaduct has a school yard which is smooth as fuck, there are also benches to grind on and shit, very good find......to get there, just get the train to wetheral from carlisle. it costs 90p or some shit. It drops you right next to the viaduct which crosses the river over to great corby..I cant be fucked to give you the directions for the school...just look around and ask some old woman....she'll tell you. Outside the cumberalnd news office..set of steps to jump off. The high street, english + scotch street.....In summer, the momument right in the center of english street is taken up by skaters who watch their maytes pull off trix..... The main spot now is trinity..........I reccomend going to wetheral and great corby v. much..lots of poles to grind and lots of steps to ollie off, plus great corby has its fair share of good looking girlz :)

  • Have seen skateboarders on Trinity school playground and have also noticed some young lads skating about on the front of the Cumberland News offices on Dalston Road.
  • Catch a train to Penrith (only 20 mins). Go to Aldi or the swimming pool and meet millions of skaters.
  • No real skateboard areas but the centre of town and around the Civic center seem to be the hangout places (Rumour has it the council might........ be building a skatboard area)

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Carlisle. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Carlisle.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
