Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • well has any1 been to toast bar yet?? i went last week and u know what?? its alright havent seen anything else on here about it so why dont some1 go check it out and lets see what the vibe is???
  • elements iz a great night with a wkd atmos phere, i would strongly not advise kennys as it is a dirrty shit hole
  • avoid kennys bar its a dirrty filthy shit hole trust!! elements fab nite in there bout the only place really
  • mosh in leicester
  • Zuu has been closed for a while now, and has reopened as Elements, with a nice overhaul. They've had some decent nights on there lately, not just the usual cheesecore nights, with 'superstar' trance DJ JFK doing a night there, as well as heavy rock nights with local bands. Definately worth supporting on their more 'underground' nights as Hinckley needs a good venue!
  • Clotted Cream runs semi-regular trance, hard house and techno nights, mostly at Kenney's Bar at the top of Castle Street. The website is http://www.doctea.co.uk/clottedcream/ Nu-Revolution have monthly trance and breaks nights at Beaver's Bar. The Northern Territory on Stockwell Head also has the occasional dance event.
  • matrix is kool thurs - cheap to get in and cheap drinks plus its open till 2 sat its open till 3
  • hinckley still has a wicked night out for all but from the look of your website no one has updated it newer pleaces to try are the baron £1 a pint brilliant, littern, tree kaseys, the union thats a brilliant pub shots only a pound, moodys by day its a cafe by night a bar cheep for all you jugs try a jelly bean if ya gonna go now all the big clubs have changed names like alley cats now flares an ace 70s bar the bounty is now reflex brilliant 80s bar, zuu is now elements only open a few weeks ago not been there yet but iv heard good things, le venue groove helter skelter or what ever you no it as is now the matrix the worst club in hinckley dont go there so ther you have it this site is up to date on hinckleys night life
  • flares ..... oh yeh demolish the groove da onli ppl who go in there r the lil kids wantin 2 go on da f****** slides!
  • Theres only one pub in hinckley worth visiting at night and its called THE CAFE BAR. The atmosphere is great, the decor very modern and the DJ is top draw if you like house music........ he's also a nutter! A definate must if you want a great night out, if you dont like cheese that is cus every other pub in the area serves that
  • Matrix an be amusing
  • The clubs in Hinckley are dire without exception
  • azure, alleycatz, brannaganz littentree, beavers bar maybe
  • reflex is the new bounty and has great music with resident dj simon (le bon - on account of his enthusiasm for duran duran).he ia a nice bloke with a scary beard thing but nevertheless plays great music.drinks before ten pm are often half price.zuu and grove nightclubs are currently closed for a refit and name change.
  • zuu is soon going to be refurbished and re named ELEMENTS NIGHTCLUB allycats is now called FLARES where they play loads of 70's and 80's music its great and helterskelter is now been renamed GROOVE they are all pretty cool!!!! (oh and any1 can get in zuu no matter how old you are)
  • FALRES&REFLEX i love this place on a friday night reflex is a 80's bar and flares is a 70's club...its cheap b4 10 o clock wich is cool i supose
  • clotted cream - hard dance and trance - monthly on fridays - Kenney's Bar, Castle Street - Adm. £2 - 8 till late - email : mick.rowley@ukonline.co.uk - web site www.doctea.co.uk/clottedcream/ small club 3 res djs & guests - already established as the cult place to be
  • Clubs mmmm well everytime i go out i or one of my mates seem to get ripped of by clubs/pubs displaying prices then the item with the big display is the only one NOT in the promotion????
  • Zuu or the Groove.
  • when the sun goes down, hinckley is full of people who are so young they still find "pull my finger" funny
  • the infamous ZUU!!!!! only gud if you are very drunk and cant remember it in the morning, but saying that many a fun-filled night have bin spent there!
  • ZUU!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • 1) Zuu - Young persons club (i.e. place to celebrate your G.C.S.E. results. V. tacky, v. funny if you're drunk, v. awful if you're even slightly sober 2) The one at the back of Reflex - OK since the revamp (you don't stick to the carpet anymore). You can get in free before 11, especially if you go through Reflex. Nobody goes unfortunately, except on exam results days as they are on Thursdays and it's the only club that opens on Thursdays!! 3) Groove - Better than Zuu, slightly older people but better music and better viewing points for the regular fights!
  • for a gr8 nite out all u need is Hinckley, theres clubs galore for u to have a gr8 time
  • ST. Peters for the cup. Oh bugger we changed name this year to The Duke.
  • le venue had a re vamp a few years ago and is now called THE HELLTER SCELLTER.The vinery has also changed hands and had a re vamp. Now known as The case
  • In response to the comments about the "club" zuu i totally agree with the fact that most of the "clubbers" aren't old enough to know what clubbing is! In it's defence however there's probably more life in that little room than there is in the whole of Hinckley! Cheap booze, half decent music (sometimes!)and if your out with your mates it can be a laugh (providing you are substantially intoxicated!!!) If you are looking to pull the only ones with potential are the bouncers (in my opinion!!!!) You could always go to Alleycats (but you'll be by yourself!!) or you could join the pensioners at the Groove who's definition of clubbing is some sort of ancient caveman ritual!!
  • Berties (formely known as Sub Zero) - Opposite the union inn, Friday nights Local House and Trance D.Js, open 7.30pm-2am, Free Admission, only place to go in Hinckley in order to avoid cheese and commercial shite!
  • The Groove formerly Le venue, mainly for the over 25's full of 40+ women but they play better music than Zuu and ther is a better atmosphere, no 15yr olds threatening to beat you up for breathing!
  • zuu its well gooooood innit
  • Zuu, the only club i know of where you can reguarly see "ladies" who arent old enough to be doing their GCSE's! Alley cats, Really just a function room on the back of a pub, still you need to be older than 16 to get it (i.e. older than you need to get into zuu) Helter Skelter, Previously known as Le Venue. Probably shit, but ive never been there.
  • Hinckley Golf Club
  • Le Venue has now closed down, and gone through a big management change and had the builders in. Its now 'Helter Skelter/Groove', with a 'family restaurant' section during the daytimes and a nightclub on friday/sat nights. They have an actual helter skelter that you can go on, hence the name. Clientele and general layout seems the same as Le Venue was, though..
  • There are three clubs in Hinckley.. Alleycats (also know as the Back of the Bounty) Zuu (uh, 'pooh' :]) Le Venue (no clever putdown name but still shit) Basically Zuu has the reputation of being tacky as hell and being the underager's club, but it has a nice atmosphere to relax in and its never too packed. They do £1 a drink nights all friday night and before 11 on saturday nights too, which always goes down (then comes back up) well. Plays a mix of chart and 'real' club music; some nights you get lucky and get decent music all night, others its just shite. Bear in mind that smt like 50% of the crowd are under 18, and 20% of that 16 or under.. They're always running offers and admission is usually cheaper with a flyer, but i think the standard rate is £4.50 before 12, cheaper before 11 etc. About 6 or 7 years ago a 17 year old got stabbed to death outside this club, and my mate got beat up in the nearby alley as he was leaving one night. Steer well clear of anyone at chucking out time, can get nasty. Zuu used to be Ritzy's, Bubbles, etc etc deep in the past. Alleycats is a bit more of a trendy club, smaller but gets VERY packed and its hard to move around, plays much more club music than either of the other two, so its a goodun for music. but it IS packed. It backs up on to the Bounty pub, which is where the alternate name comes from. Le Venue is the other tack club. Only been there twice, it plays shit 'party hour' music, has shit layout, has a cool chevvy or smt as the dj box but other than that ferget it :]

Live Music Venues

  • As noted in the Clubs section, Elements has been having some live bands on.
  • The Northern Territory (formerly Merricks, formerly Ballies, formerly Sub Zero.. etc) has live bands on regularly. Kenney's Bar also has live bands on.
  • Top bands play at Kenneys bar fri or sat and stoke golding church hall also occasionally at northern territory. Bands such as WE USED 2 BE COOL, ANY OTHER TIME, METHOD IN MADNESS - ETC
  • school?!
  • Beavers Bar is your best bet for local stuff. You have to go the Charlotte in Leicester for the sexy bands.
  • splitters play in hinckley and r a good ska band from lesta
  • Barley Sheaf, Greyhound, Beavers Bar
  • Look in the Hinckley Times to find where The Craic are playing! Brilliant, Vibrant Celtic Folk/Rock! or check gigguide at http://thecraic.tripod.com
  • Sub Zero has live music very often Kahn's occasionally has live music

Cinemas

  • ODEON IN NUNEATON - ST DAVIDS WAY 15 MINS FROM HINCKLEY I GO ALL THE TIME
  • i fink we need a cinema and a bowlin alley or ice rink or sumfin (that place oposit the police station ... allbar sports or summit knock it down and START AGAIN!!
  • Long gone in Hinckley...a shame - the one opposite the Police Station on Bond Street used to be brilliant
  • theres no cinemaz in hinckley and we wants 1 wots the point in goin lesta or cov or nuneaton just 2 c a film
  • nuneaton
  • nuneaton or cov
  • We don't have one anymore...they pulled it down...:( However - the Odeon in Nuneaton is good and has some awesomely comfortable seats - made sitting through 3 hours of LOTR a breeze!
  • There is a Cinema coming soon near the police station
  • star citie bham for a good film gold class anything else just pop to nuneaton wouldnt it b good if we had some entertainment on the perimiter rd
  • Cinema closed in 1993. Sad loss for the town.
  • coventry bowling hally u see im a gypsy from sapcote and next time u go to the bowling hally u will notice them well dressed in one massive group acting like monkeys ! (especialy) the lads !
  • nearest cinema is in Nuneaton odeon www.odeon.co.uk 10 mins away fron hinckley
  • A new multiplex has just opened in Nuneaton.
  • The cinema was never burned down, it just closed. Althought you could be mistaken into thinking it had looking at the state of it. It was turned into an 'entertainment centre' with mini bowling and arcade games, but is now a 'sports bar' called All Bar Sports.
  • There is no longer a cinema in the town because some mindless thugs burnt it to the ground. There were plans to rebuild, but the massive Warner Village complex on the outskirts of nearby Leicester, coupled with the 15 screen Showcase on the outskirts of even nearer Coventry, which were both built recently, meant that the rebuilding plans for Hinckley's cinema were scrapped.
  • There are NO ammenities like this in Hinckley. The nearest bowling alley, Cinema etc are in Leicester or Coventry, on the leisure parks. This REALLY sucks if you have no transport! Hinckley used to have a small cinema, but it closed down about 8 years ago
  • Used to be rather a cute one, but town desperatley lacking big screen venue.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Hinckley. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Hinckley.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
