Favourite Building
Travel Inn. they have really good showers. pity about the kids running around the pub next door. I mean Charlie Chalk is fun, but not that good
The Pavillion at Burnley Cricket Club on Belvedere Road.
neil's, but why be inside when you can be out in the sun? my fave spot is the bench in front of the bandstand, nearest to yates's
Until razing it in 1998, the fountain in the town square was one of my favorites. Perfect for paddling on a drunken summer evening.
Demolish It Now Building
bus station toilets!
That tatty rambling structure using part of the Car Park at Burnley Cricket Club
It's only used by a few people in the Winter..Pull it down & extend the Cricket Club.
demolish mean cats now. and the keirby, if youre gonna demolish it, do it now.
DEMOLISH THE ROUND CAFE. THE FOUNTAIN WAS LIKE, SOOO MUCH A BURNLEY THING.
Dodgy loos on the Wirral Way.
The multistory car parks
The Best Things
Easy to pick slappers up down town
Some really great girls -(not many though)
Fair amount of down to earth people
I like our accents, it isn't too rough but easy to recognise, makes me feel proud sometimes, except for the Burnihams (what I call the people who say things like
burnley is babylon!
Burnley's weather is one of its better points. You can guarantee that once you return after a trip, it's bound to be raining!
The home of the Greatest football team in the world. Ian Wright
Loads of Pubs(well for a small town anyway!)
Pendelfin, pendel hill, sweets
Burnley was the best place in England to buy Licorice Root and Anise Seed Balls. Also a great place to scrounge around the moors, bump into gypsies and view old Roman roads, and WWII bomb craters. Ken Stanley's was the greatest place to play table tennis.
I used to live in Burnley ten years ago and still go back there to visit every two years. You can't beat the open market on Wednesdays and Saturdays for all sort of crap. The best thing about Burnley is the fooball club, Burnley F.C. the pride of the North (Up the clarets) there are also some good pubs of the the kebs called the sportsmans and the shoulder and mutton. Also has a good bowling alley and loads of good chippy's. I used to live just off Breifcliff Road at Duke Bar, loads of pubs and crap.
The Worst Things
People who have Double-Whoppers for Brains
Close proximity to Padiham (skankiham - skanks asylum)
10% Ethnic Population (not that I'm racist or anything, I know an honest Pakistani - Asif)
Quite a few manky areas like Burnley Wood (ppl are ok just dirty kids runnin around and breaking laws n stuff!)
Dexterity every month - we live for it
Far too many scallies! Close proxmity to Neston
Soot, tremendous amounts of rain, lame heating and outdoor lavs, something we just don't have in Canada.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Burnley.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Burnley.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
