Inside Information

  • The rows
  • the cross - great meet up point
  • Grosvenor Park, the meadows by the Dee, bus station by the market! All the usual ones!
  • Watergates, cool and relaxing
  • On the row above route 1 or in the park!!best place for meeting up with other moshers!
  • The Grosvenor park is great in the summer - the area by the ice cream shop thing is nearly always full of friendly stoners/moshers/emo type people or trendies pretending. Go too far away from there and you get into chav territory. There's often families there too. There's always some random crowd of people outside Topshop in the precinct as well!
  • The gardens opposite the Ampitheatre
  • The park!
  • The rows now has loads of scallies and they aint friendly! If you're alternative wouldnt recommend spending any length of time there...got started on last time!
  • the riverside and grosvenor park are probably the nicest places to hook up and meet people - especially on a sunny day, its usually pretty easy to get involved in a game of football or frisby on the central field. local rush hours are 9am, 12.30 noon and 6pm - avoid road travel at these times as u can walk quicker, chester is one of the only cities i know where u dont need a car to get around. use the wrexham bypass if travelling from one side to the other during these times, its twice the distance but saves you 15 to 20 minutes in time (depends whats worth more to u, petrol or time). book a taxi in advance or book from the club u are in to meet u at a central place when leaving a nightclub (if it picks u up outside the nightclub it may get taken and the taxi queues are horrendous - get it to pick u up down the road if possible)
  • The cross, town hall, by the river
  • The Park on a saturday
  • cross, down by the river on sunny days
  • Meet up in route one it kicks ass
  • they all hang around outside the shops doing no harm but you have stupid shop owners that phone the police
  • the ampitheatre, the commece building, the roman gardens, the circle, the park, the saint johns church gardens, the grosvenor park, egdars fields, the cross, the rows, the gay statues, behind the library, perts of the walls, this lil hut thing b hind rufus court, several car parks and the park in the kayle yards usually hav pple in them!
  • Grovener Park by the pond reading and doing work in the sun..
  • hook up spots depend on who you are.....the park is always good, but beware of the cross, drunken ppl aint my idea of fun conversation
  • the hook up spot is mostly commace house theres like a four set a five and a big five set of stairs there the stairs have a short run up but its fun when you get the hang of them.
  • In my younger days always used to be 'on the rows'. Semi seclusion from anyones parents but with 'birds-eye-view' on the passing talent, tourists etc etc on Foregate street.
  • The rows are always full of rock kids looking surly
  • the comerce and the old ampthitheatre- thats where all the moshers go!!!
  • The Rows, along Foregate Street
  • Me and my chums at the age of 14 used to come in on the train, get a curry and a few pints at the Chester Tandoori (yes they served us even when we were under the table) and then go and argue with tramps by the canal.
  • Maccy Dee's in Greyhound Pk...Those with cars = great racing and chilling spot...beware coppers like this spot too
  • Down by the banks of the river on a Saturday night
  • All the school kids can be found at 4.00 by the statue of three people outside Macdonalds. Always shouting the F word!
  • The Cross - if you are a tosser
  • Skate: Car park under the market. Sunday 1 o'clock.
  • The Meadows- self explanatory- a big wide open piece of land next to the river- summertime brings out all the couples!

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Chester. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Chester.

If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
