Musical Instrument Shops and DJ Gear
cant remember the name but just next 2 tha theatre carpark
Ackerman Music. One of the best places to buy string instruments in the south. Topped only by Restalls in Midhurst but they're a lot pricier.
There's a music shop ar the end of west street, specialises in classical music.
Ackermann's Music - the end of West St
I use Bern's Drums and Percussion, and it's a great little shop!
off of spitafield lane and st james between two mini roundabouts is a well stocked musical instrument shop.
Shop right next door to priory park, Stage Tech, will sell almost anything or fix anything to do with the industry. The shop may be previously remembered as Kaotic Noise and Colour, Stuarts Guitar Shop or Honest Johns
Ackerman's music is good for both instruments and sheet music, but can be a little slow if you are ordering something. The Chichester Music Centre is full of electrical instruments, and possibly some others too. I'm not sure exactly what it's like because I've never been in there. The same for Bern's Drums and Percussion, because I'm not a percussionist. If your taste is for African instruments or anything unusual, you'll need to look in the Laines in Brighton (especially Adaptor Trap Percussion on the one going under the bridge near the station- that's very good and it's mostly handmade and very reasonable for what it is.)
theres burns music shop at the top of west street, & at the top of east street u hav chichester music shop, burns sells almost everything but not pianos i dont think, & chichester music shop sells mostle keyboards, guitars (good ones!) & funky violins! alot of music books ther aswell & musical gadgets!
Chichester Music is the best in chi
'Bees', now Chichester Music Centre - Eastgate Square. Used to wkr there. Can't sayI'm biased though! OK prices [you'll find cheaper in Portsmouth if that what you're after] but they can get hold of most things because of the size of the company. Music orders take aeons. Reasonable prices. Average service. Good range of products and titles of books.
Bern's - Westgate. Mainly classical though can get hold of stuff for you from guitars to rock books. Try finding out what you want at Chichester Music Centre and then coming here to order it - its more likely to come in.
Also, sells more 'gift' style thing, stationery, ties and stuff - for the muso in your life. Bit stuck up some of 'em and not always sure about what they can get hold of, but you can only try.
Burn's music in West Street & there's one at the bottom of West street that's not bad but i can't remember what its called!
there are two music shops neither of which are anything special
There is one, but I forget where it resides. I think it's up in the direction of Woolworths.
Chi music centre, got me guitar from there and did work experience there. very cool
Um, Burns music is ok, apart from the snobbish, dowdo who works in there, with blonde hair.and there's one in East Street called Chichester music, or something like that, which sells good vinyls, and the odd Beatles compilation CD. nice.
Bees and Burns, I think they're both called; one right at the end of West street, the other right at the end of East street.
Bees is OK - guitar selection has improved a bit but still mainly cater for prebendel kids first violins. I think Honest Johns has closed - shame
Bern's Music near the Toad. Nice people, very good service. Good range of music and instruments, and anything they don't have in stock, they can get for you in a matter of days ! Nice one guys ! Many a drum stick bought there by myself ! - :-) R
Bees in Eastgate Square
Recording Studios, Rehearsal Rooms, PA Hire
nearsest known would be ford lane, ford. For a reccomendation though speak with PJ of Dropzone (dropzone-band.com) who is a lead singer in two bands that cover our area.
PA Hire only one good chois CABCO sound and light, go via Stage Tech (DJ store in Guildhall Street) for info.
And having written that one above, there's now Jam Studios. The rehearsal part is on northgate roundabout and the studio itself somewhere in birdham. Bit pricey tho
Airtight studios!!!
There is one recording/rehearsal studio in Chi. Airtight Studios is (literally) just out of Chi heading towards Oving and has reasonable facilities as well as storage and hire. Cabco in St. James Industrial estate for PA hire. Roland will sort you out with anything
