Skateboarding Spots

  • try grindin the benches all along west street
  • Multi Story carpark behind the station over the stream. The skatepark behind the lesure center. The ledge outside the law court by the station/bus station. a long concrete ledge and a 4 set at the top of south street on the other side of the subway, be careful theres always people coming and going.. Ouside ciniworld theres a few benches etc.
  • the law courts, its all fun untill you get arrested,, oo handcuffs :P
  • dunno skatepark.
  • Ummm the place behind Westgate, definatly was never used by me or my friend to stare at half naked skaters note: the above statment may or may not be true!!! ;)
  • The skate park near the leisure centre is well equiped and well used. Go check it out!
  • The multi storey skatepark or outside of county court near the bus station are the two popular areas for boarders. The council do not have a skate park in town at present.
  • chichester skatepark is kewl lots of fit boys and u can skate too!
  • Chi skatepark is a good time when its not got little bin liner cunts getting in the way, or 2 wheelers for that matter. I skate the ledge outside the law courts, and also the Multi storey (well before they laid gravel down to send you nosediving into the concrete, and sandpapering the ledges). The library has a gap or two thats ok. We get booted from the Church after 5 mins of skating. Hot Chicks in Chi though, I suggest Horsham for a Street Skate, and chicks also.
  • The Multistory car-park!
  • the multistory carpark is wher ul find all the good skaters & then the skate park is full of beginners!
  • Chi is good for skateboards, bad for skates and rubbish for BMXer's + us skateboarders don't want no dirty fruit-booters or two wheelers hanging around our spots!!!
  • aha! theres the skatepark...but unless you are very good going in the day on satuday is not advisable as it is rather small and often crowded. it has: a mini with extension, grind box, 3 sided fun box, two sided (big hip) 'death box' spine, and quarter. A kicker, and two-tier rail. A very short way form the park is the college: ledges steps, drops etc. but watch out for the security gard 'just doing his job) theres is a nciely waxed ledge at waitrose also very near by. the multi storey is crap for skating as they have made it 'skateproof'. across the town at the back of woolworths is a very tasty lege with quite large drop. round the corner is the library with: large 5 step, small 2 steps curbs, hand rails and ledges to grind, and a large ledge going all the way round the library to ollie off. Security guards are a nuisance but just og back five minutes later. behind the library is the council buildings which are v.good and have: two three sets, small ledges to grind/slide, a long 5 set, high ledges at either side, and below the ledges are nice pavement gaps.handy bins and cones can be placed on the steps for extra challenge. A long enough skate will take you to the subway, with a large 6 set, a large 4 set, and a long ledge nicely waxed for grinding...unfortunately tis placve is often crawling with shoppers!
  • The spot outside the Chi Crown Court has a few handrails. If the Council would have made a much larger wooden park.... it would be much better.
  • im considering trying to set up an indoor park in the area. good quality ramps and bowls that can be used by all with a BMX specific area. would be for those who like to skate and not just smoke dope. mail me at fug_jr@hotmail.com with sugestions on a location, set-up ideas and prices you and your mates would be prepared to pay to skate the best park in the area, much better than southsea and undercover
  • the muliti storey car park is genraly where the decent skaters hand out or there's outside the law courts & the skate park which has been desighned without B.M.Xers in mind
  • library i guess, or county stay dry for longer! subway is k. bishop luffa is cool. u can ollie up 2 step heelfip off 3 step. thats usually fun! loook around and use imagnation dudes! go to church that u get to round pallant roads. multy is boring. i mean how cahllengin' can curb ollie's be
  • Id just like to say that the "skatepark" behind the Westgate centre is shite. its to small, and the ramps have been made with only skaters and inliners in mind. To add to this, the surfaces are made of metal, which is very, very slippery, as is discovered when I ended up in A+E!!!. I understand that the Council have limited funds when it comes to things like this, and metal ramps are cheaper and easier to construct, plus vandalls have a hard time of setting them on fire, there only safe for BMX if they are properly maintained, which there not. I guess the council are reluctant to pay for a contractor to paint them every fortnight!, would it not have been cheaper in the long run to build the surfaces in wood?, at least they would be safe for all that which to use them?. Next time the Council want to build something like this, why not ask the people who know,I.E us, the riders/skaters and sadly yes, the rollerbladers, instead of listening to some metal ramp salesman who knows jack. Next time take Brighton or Worthing as an example, as they have great skate parks, so we now go there instead.
  • Yes,a few,but nothing 4 BMXers.The skatepa
  • You can skate anywhere you want, there will be stuck up people looking down their nose at you but no-one will stop you. If you want to do some proper skating head for the multi-storey, ignore the skatepark, it seems to be full of beginners.
  • New skateboard park behind the Westgate Center. Very popular.
  • 'nu' skatepark by chi college is a good place for kids to stand around and try to look cool-'practise' kickflips failingly every hour or so and give odd looks to those who attemp proper skating or anything vaguely active
  • FUN NEW SKATEPARK, MINI-RAMP, QUARTER PIPES, BOXES, DRIVEWAYS, RAILS, SPINES ETC. ETC. AND EVERYTHING IS QUITE SMALL, PERFECT FOR US SK8ERS AND SHIT FOR BMXERS HAHAHAH. SO, CHECK IT OUT!
  • The multi story car park is truly a beutiful spot, i once saw a badger there and a deer, but someone died there
  • decent grinds on the library steps rails
  • CRAWLY 10 out of 10 THE LEVEL brighton 10 out of 10 (and comming soon chichesters little bit of severe rampage)? out of ?
  • The railing outside the Post Sorting Office opposite the Police Station are well used for grinding, but don't get noticed by the neighbours.
  • The multi storey or anywhere in town
  • The best skateboard sport for me is around the grammar school playground. This is great for rail slides and ollies.
  • there are some good runs around the council offices next to the library. These inclued two sets of a small of steps and a set of 5 steps. The subway next to the theatre car park has a two sets of steps and a large waxed slightly sloping ledge, great for grinds and slides. The court house near the station has two sets of steps with ledges on each side. West street has some nice metal benches that are perfect for grinding.
  • The multi-story carpark is very good on a Sunday, as is Waitrose carpark (when closed or otherwise!), and the college has a few little runs and lines; you've just gotta look for them. The town itself is largely pedestrianised, and skating during the day is difficult, and largly unrewarding. There are large parts of Chi. I don't know, so look about; rumours of a ramp somewhere are still whispered in dark corners.

Skateboard Shops

  • Nation
  • ESP is the boardin shop
  • ESP. Great people. Cheap. Good Products. Thumbs up!
  • ESP - Bit expensive,
  • E.S.P is the best shop and the people are rad, They wont rip you off.
  • ESP opposite Hargroves Cycles
  • E.S.P is awesome guys!
  • Yeah, Grind-It is way better than ESP, they'll get anything in if they don't have it, I just had to ask them!
  • The best inline and skateboard shop is in Horndean and it is called GRIND-IT wich is approx 9 miles North/West of Chichester
  • ESP is probably the best.
  • nation & ESP
  • ESP in south street is alright
  • ESP of course
  • E.S.P.is the only shop that sells any good sk8 stuff but is crap 4 BMX bits.please please can someone start stocking BMX bits, they would make a mint as BMXers are here to stay.We also need a decent park to ride and not those metal death ramps behind the leisure centre.
  • one should endeavour to avoid such shops, if we the hoi-poloi boycott them they will eventually go out of business, we then can have branches of the Edinburgh Wool shop in the City
  • ESP chichester ESP Bognor Regis Ally Oops Worthing (over road from pier)
  • Air Circus and ESP both in South Street
  • Air Circus now stock a large number of boards and roller blades as well as skating clothes. Their shop is now in South Street. Also a branch of E.S.P. has just opened stocking some shit hot skating gear. They are also in south street, in the little new arcade next to the fountain.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Chichester. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Chichester.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
