Record Shops
Just a word about the shop down the alley. Twice now I've gone there in the morning to find it still closed at 11.15 with a sign on the door saying it opens at 10.30!
well actually, i go to bedales and we dont want the world and we aren't posh, we jsut want some good music and i agree woolworths is a good music store!
I would go to tescos or i would just wait but woolworths has all the songs anyone could ever want except those bedales people they want the whole flippin world for god sake they are to posh for my liking.
There is a good record shop, down the alley where the Alley Cat is/was, Music Stop - owned by Tristan who is a really friendly guy!! lots of good jazz in there and 2nd hand cd's and lots of vinyl. Great shop!
none of any note.focus sounds in waterlooville or reflex in southsea
portsmouth or london
woolworths
Funny little place down the alley by the bakers oven. Sells well good bits of everything and is always like a little adventure into lala land!
One Stop Records (down the alley next to the kebab shop)
The Music Store, Owned by Tristan (a top guy) full of old skool rock etc
Excellent second hand record shop in Bakers Lane (?) - the alley running down the side of the kebab shop. Lots of vinyl and cheap CD's. Also, keep an eye out for CD stall at the Saturday market (weather permitting), the guy has an eclectic stock including some wicked Techno and Trance.
There is a record shop down the alleyway by the bakers oven that sells 2nd hand everything..
Blumleins is closing! There are now NO specialist record shops in Petersfield, unless you count the Del Shannon LP's in Help the Aged.
woolworths and whsmith suck go to HMV and Virgin in portsmouth.
For the best classic music around - Blumlein's in Dragon St - Simon will also give you cryptic advice!
Forget it! John Menzies sell chart stuff at high prices, and Woolworths sell the same slightly cheaper. Boots sell some too, but for any decent record shops, go to Portsmouth, Guildford or Chichester.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
This is vertigo there is usually snap tht happens eveery two or three months
vertigo nightclub is wicked the web address ic www.vertigonightclub.co.uk go on it and have a look.
Eden Bar-in the high street, very young party crowd with lots of rave nights and the such. Not for the faint hearted :)
Music Bar for techno/rave music,DJs,dancing, cheap drinks and party favours got to be Eden-the owners are mad christians with an anything goes attitude towards making benjamins!!
Apart from that the Red Lions good for wannabe tysons and the Square B has the best landlord in the town!
No, no NO!!! Vertigo is awful. If you're up for a fight, a shag up an alley or a crap night of expensive drinks, sticky carpets and bad house music - this is the place for you!!
Traders is a members only club with a disco at weekends, great Thai food during the week and caberet acts every so often.
Vertigo Nightclub- Open 10 till 3 Friday and Saturday Night
Good Deals, Friendly Staff, Hot Fun LOVING chicks, and minimal dresscode
Vertigo...a club??? Have you not been anywhere else?
VERTIGO as its known now (used to be Oscars but alas that is no more) is cool i work there and itts pretty fun, now open from 10 till 3 both friday and saturday, no free entry unless your on the guest list, which wont happen unless the staff invite you
Traders Club
If you're a teenager, they're all listed in the Petersfield Youth Directory at www.sargent99.freeserve.co.uk
The Dreaded Oscers in now made into a new and improved Night Club named Vertigo's which i work in so, come along and see me!! It is a much classier, fun, local, cheap night out, no matter what anyone says, i think it is considerably better than going to guildford for the night, spending loads of money on booze and then forking out £50 for a taxi home again!!!
Oscars...never been there though!
The worst thing about Petersfield is "Oscars" nightclub. More info. on 'Oscars'. Friday nights are for over 18s, with resident DJ 'Kev J'. Saturday nights are for over 21s. It's open 'till 2 am both nights (although not everyone can stick it for that long...)
Yeah - believe it or not, Petersfield now has its own nightclub! The name "Oscars" (it's in a building which used to be a cinema) is a pretty good indication of the level of sophistication inside... Actually, it's really not as bad as it could be, and it is the only club around. Don't be surprised if you turn up at 11:30 and get told it's just about to close...
Live Music Venues
The petersfield school has plenty of young school bands and the traders near town is a very good and local place to go and it is right near the town centre where ther is plenty of opportunitys to shop till you drop.
Eden Bar-rave/house/breakbeat
Traders-local acts,generally singer/songwriters
Wedgewood Rooms-more known bands
Eden has accoustic nights, Traders has some live music, no-where particular good though unfortunately.
wedgewood rooms
pyramids
Traders has a good choice of music, but Stiff Promotions (a guy who is pretending to play at music promoting) has taken the whole thing over
The George on Sundays can be alright. The Good Intent rocks on a Sunday night and Traders sometimes has cabaret type stuff that's pretty entertaining.
traders bar sometimes has gigs
Traders or Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea
Many local pubs provide music - mainly along the folk and rock vein but plenty to choose from venue wise e.g. The Good Intent, The Drum
