Skateboarding Spots

  • (2007) The skate park is the obvious place to say but it seems the more seasoned skaters have gone street rather than vert. ( the slopes, the precinct outside somerfield )
  • The skate park? duh
  • The Skate park, Village green, Super mega dry spot!!!!!!!
  • Thh skatepark is the best place in nailsea to skate there is always people there, usally only skaters and bladers one blader (tommy holly) is so good i think he might b turning pro as he gets older. most of the skaters there have been skatin for a few years now and are pretty good but they dont mind if there are any new skaters around.
  • before the skate park was shoved in everyone skated down by worlewind videos. decent.
  • Scotch Horn - There is usually a load of yobs freestyling around the skate park there.
  • they best skateboard are is the housing estate the elms: super smooth roads kerbs and loads of trick oppertunities
  • Nailsea sk8 park....FULL OF PPL WHO ARE BETTER THAN ME! The park itself is pretty gnarly. But Backwell is better :D
  • Well i will start with the scotch horn gr8 car park for sk8in! I've been kicked off twice so not to bad considering i've been goin there for about a year and a half!! Now there is a park just behind the centre including a quater pipe with flat bank attached, two quaters attached at an angle, a driveway, a few rails, benches, funbox and of course are lovely little kicker. A big thanks to everyone who got together for our piece of nailsea i call home. Move on to the precinct theres about three steps a little two set, lidary three set and of course the infamous midlands steps rencently been attack by the council with pink bumpy things. But not to worry they r still do able because i did them them (dan starr) and of course chris carr. Then theres the esso car park gr8 for flat landing around, pulling of kewl tricks. There is also a few other kewl places like this crazy 4 set which is very long cant remember where but i flipped them!! thats all i can think of. i will now tell you my trick list: F/s Flipped thrid kick flipped third kick flipped of one of darcs park quaters ollied mids with the all new improved bumps and not forgeting what i did today i kick flip b/s 50:50 the driveway!! 10/9/2002 thanks for your time Sir Daniel Starr of nailsea
  • There is Now a skate park in Nailsea, its pretty small but quite sweet to skate. Nice smooth metal 1/4's with a driveway, kicker, couple of rails and a funbox. Probably the best and most popular place to skate in nailsea now even if it is over-run with BMXer's and Fucking Scooters. Also just a nice place to hang out if you're bored. Maybe not as enjoyable as skating the esso car park but has more potencial for better tricks and we've even had a visit from Danny Wainwright himself!! SO come down and check it out. Lates.... Matt
  • Hi my names dan a member of darc our skate team. Im writing to talk about our new skate park i think its brilliant, well only when its empty. I have learn so many new things and landed countless 180 kickflips and there good otherwise pro skater danny wainwright would not of said it that they are rad and if you don't believe me ask him. Also for the record books me daniel starr, chris carr and a kid called joe have all done the midland steps many times. Even with those dam pink bumps. well hello and good night. Ps: life is short but chris is shorter.
  • outside the esso garage, scotch horn center, outside darlows
  • OH THE LEASURE CENTER CAR PARK IS THE SCOTCH HORN CAR PARK, ROBIN GOT THAT ONE WRONG,I TRIED TO STOP HIM BUT HE WOULD HAVE NO OF IT!
  • The leisure center the chemist steps who 3 more people have ollied Chris, Dan & Joe. Darlows which a good skater called Rob can K grind, and the Esso car park.
  • SCOTCH HORN car park is the place to skate when all the shops are open as angry workers come out and tell you to p*ss off It has a huge extremly waxed curb, speed bumps a sic gap which is curb hieght but quite wide and a great ollie manual gap with a drop out on the other side.About 5:30 when the shops are closed and the cars are out of the ESSO CARPARK you can skate the sic slope and smooth surfaces(not as smooth as the unbeatablely smooth SCOTCH HORN CARPARK though). you can also skate DARLOWS which is a wicked Foot high curb which is amazing to Grind and Nose/tail slide. Theres also the PRECINICT to skate when the shops are all shut up.Theres some wicked benches and the playgound steps (a tiny 2 set which is cool to flip) Also in the precinict is the libery steps which is a 3 set and the first stair set most of us Nailsea Skaters ever did. In the Nailsea School theres a cool ledge (2nd step of lyodds hieght) and a cool 6 set next to them A new discovery was the 6 set in the quad which is great apart from a 2 metre run up! only 2 people have done this set (Chris and Dan) The benches in the quad can be moved to slide/grind. Theres a 3 set and a flat bank(next to the new block) and brand new tarmaced surface.Another spot is HANNAH MOORE PRIMARY SCHOOL with a 4 set, ledge, a wicked flat bank and a mini fun box. The other day i was walking home and discovered a new spot. It was a amazinly smooth carpark with great curbs. a kicker, a few ledges one of which is at an angle and is cool to skate and a flat bank just down the road with a ledge next to it which is the hieght of 1st step at lyodds. It was the car park for the MOORE END SPOUT PUB and the flat bank was next to the PUB. Theres a SKATE PARK being built at the moment so there will be a new skate spot. Theres the LOADING BAY to skate with a ledge thats a bit higher than lyodds 2nd step and 2 kickers. Also a 5 and 3 set there aswell. Finally there is the MIDLANDS STEPS(CHEMISTS STEPS) which is a sick 8 set. i've seen 2 people ollie this set and are now trying to flip them. I think only 4 people have actually made this huge stair set.
  • Skate Spots: - Esso car park. Lots of flat land room. Little divider block to ollie. Waxed curb ( no comparison to Darlows ). The slopes ( a big flat bank sort of thing to ollie down, up or over ) Part of the car park is on a hill so you can race down it on your board. ( You can only really use the esso on a Sunday when there is no cars. - Scotch Horn car park. Smooth flat land surface but cars drive through all the time. Speed bumps to ollie. Huge great big long waxed curb stretching for about 10 metres. Big block ( curb height, about 4 metres long, sweet for manuals ). Curb divider to ollie. - Nailsea Pricinct. Library Steps ( Easy 3 set with crap run up ) Kids playground steps ( A wussie 2 set with a bad landing ). Benches ( loads of benches, all about 1 foot high ). Chemist Steps ( HUGE 8 set with a perfect run up and landing. They have been ollied by about 6 different people, recently by Chris Carr, Joe - some nutter kid in year 10 and Dan Starr. The steps are commanly called the "Chemist Steps" but are sometimes known as the "Midland Steps" ).
  • Park
  • Nailsea residents far too old etc....
  • We'll start with the original and best the esso carpark good to adapt flat ground tricks, darlows a nice foot high kurb good for grinds and nose/tailsides, st francis church is a relativly new spot with a couple of nice low marble walls an extended 3 set and smooth flat its a nice little spot. The most famous of all the nailsea spot is the chemist steps a sic 8set that, in a year of skating nailsea, have only witnessed 4 different people clear them.
  • See below coz us of the nailsea sk8ers dont think its right 2 publicise our little part of the world we call our skate spot ok peace
  • i wish i was aloud to skate in the best spot but its overun by the cool skaters id give anything to skate with them any of them read this its mike dashfield
  • Where they're building the new tower health centre they have loads of kewl road block to ollie, and the esso car park has turned out to be the new summer hang out with a new crowd of skaters and punks... wicked people as well as a wicked ledge to skate.
  • yes well i think its all been covered before
  • scoth horn car park good curbs and speed bumps to do various tricks over. ledge outside the front of nailsea comp about the same height of second at lloyds bristol, one around the side of the flower shop closeing hours only others mentioned in previous page kind thoughts lady still a bitch parked illegally by a curb in scotch horn we where happily skating!!!!!!. Also chem steps have been ollied by a student i know called tom (don,t know surname ) and he has seen his mate kick flip indy them!!!!!!! one day i hope to better this but this will be in along time
  • Whoever said that stuff about the skaing in nailsea being excellen he weren't wrong people in clevedon and backwell have got alot to look up to in skating terms. i must say is the best skate spot outside of bristol bar none. around the town center anywhere u look is skateable be it the flat ramp outside darlows to skating masterpeice which is the esso carpark and the chemist step is possibly the best ollie ever attempted, big up to that gary mitchel, i have yet to conquor them but that day will come when i fail to break my legs on it
  • Grannys ledge (esso carpark by granny flats), The ledge outside kind thoughts (be warned of nasty shop lady), precint (cool benchs and the world renowned chemist steps), green benchs (by tikka flame wicked for boardslides)
  • -Sin City, (a.k.a, the flats at the bottom of queens road)! Great curbs, nice walls, good fun ollies over drug addicts, alcoholics and irrate pensioners. -The Bank, (a.k.a, the road thats at the back of the farmhouse pub's carpark)! Nice concrete bank, smooth road surface. Be ready for a quick skate away if the bloke that lives in the corner house comes out with his pitbull!!! -The Precinct. Loadsa benches, walls, and the famous chemist steps, (which have only been successfully ollied down by Gary Mitchell and Ganny, back in the late 80's)!!! Unfortunately the legendary precinct centre square has been removed by some men in yellow council jackets! Credits - Tim Stephens

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Nailsea. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Nailsea.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
