Inside Information

  • Bassett Arms on Friday Quiz night for the hilarious compere and fine Doombar beer.
  • basset arms
  • The pubs
  • Can't go without mentioning Top Camp and Bottom Camp at the swing park. Many hours spent there!
  • Green lane Posse vs Village posse next to Tonkins house circa 1995
  • The waterfront undoubtably WAS the youngsters fun pub of the village, but, since good old Trevor and Charlie took over the running things have gone slighty down hill from there on. No bad language, no more pool table and please don't be seen to be laughing in there or the noext time you visit there the juke box may well disappear!!!
  • QUICK UPDATE: The Waterfront WAS undoubtedly the coolest drinking house in the village, but then something happened - Trevor and Charlie took over. No more loud music, no more bad language and please don't laugh or you'll scare away the holiday makers!! To top that, they took away the pool table - what's next, the beer?
  • Most drinking is carried out in the Waterfront inn, a small joint near the harbour frequented by the idiots (a local bunch of surfer types, when the sea is flat, there's bugger all else to do other than drink) and fisherman. The kronenbourg is great, the Pool good and the clock works back to front. Pin works behind the bar and you are welcome to use the phone as we did to phone Australia when needed - just buy pin a drink!!

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Portreath. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Portreath.

If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
