Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
GB's is brilliant for casual and smart designer wear, Funky Junction, Moss Bros, Spice and also Topman, all located within the town center and all sell good clothes.
Planet Clothing has to be the coolest and Scat! But i must admit i am a Topshop girl myself.
planet-moved
summit-closed
Scat(on the High st) is cool for the clubber and retro chick in you. Also the charity shops like Salvation Army(opposite Scat)is cool.Summit 64 is v.cool for your snow/skateboarding needs on Harpur st. The shop to beat the others is Planrt Clothing at it's new home in the 'Arcade',next to Andy's Records. It's even better than before with sk8boards and loads of other delectable sk8 and retro clobber.
Top man is great. I buy all my jumpers from there. So does Chris Evans.
PLANET CLOTHING IS THE BEST SHOP IN BEDFORD!! (advertisement courtesy of R.Poulton - future brother in law of owner) Well we've got all the Burtons type, ya know river Island and Top Man, but we've also got Funky Junction which is for the casual look. Hipper than that though is Scat on the High Street which is pretty clubby and cool, but the ultimate in Bedford is Planet Clothing in Claire court off Lime street, skate clothing galore, it's a bit pricey but if you want it they've got it. Shop of the future. Soon to open. XS Menswear, Mill Yard, Mill Street for Armani, Ralph Lauren, Versace, Stone Island etc., etc., etc.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
There is an art shop (cannot remember the name) under Lurke Street Car Park.
Gem Hut Mill Street next to the Mission Yeah...check out this shop for something different and not too expensive. Great stuff most unusual.
The art shop under the Lurke street car park. Lots of stuff, if you're arty and actually care.
cecil higgens gallery, yeh baby.
ARTLINE TATTOO STUDIO, the best tattoo and piercing parlour in Bedford!! great quality artwork done by Lee for competative prices... very well worth a visit, also has many new colours that are hard to find elsewhere, Lee has also been known to help people with thier ideas and create 1 offs
Polly Flinders on the High Street worth a look. Great fancy dress shop on first floor.
bedford has a museum and an art gallery, and they're both free so pop along if you're feeling cultural. Again, I'm afriad, Milton Keynes whips Bedfords arse, and the gallery and theatre are way better.
Polly Flinders at the bottom of the High Street is fantastic, some really originally crafty funky stuff, and the bonus of a sweet and twee dolls house emporium at the back of the shop. good for pressies and ickle nick nacks.
do tattoes qualify as art? if they do, in clair court next to planet clothing(all the good places are crmmed together) theres lee the tattooist. its quite smal but theyve got sum fuckin awesome tattooes there
Polly Flinders on the high street is a really cute art and craft shop, some stuff
is quite expensive but they do have some funky things!
There is a tiny court of shops just out of the main centre of town. It's down the alley accross the road from the Sally army shop. It has some really novel shops down there, but you still have to look hard to find it!
Cecil Higgins Art Gallery usually has an exhibition of art at one time or another.
The best thing about Bedford is that the net's best [says the proprietor?] gallery, Art Of Europe, lives there.
Magazine and Comic Shops
Place opposite Music Zone...'outer limits' or something... 'beyond element'... ? It's good though. The one next to Subway...
there is one opposite mvc. not sure what its called but it has comic books and figurines - that kinda thing. there's a massive batman stood outside it and it is near subway
