• Vic (Vicky) McGlynn on BBC 6 music, she used to go to Montgomery.
• Robert Smith (singer from The Cure) was born in Blackpool, but left soon after.
• John Robb - y'know, he's been on the telly on those bloody Top Ten 70's 80's whatever shows. Used to be in the Membranes and now fronts the great Goldblade (who and who?).
• David Ball of Soft Cell. Peter Purves of Blue Peter. Jimmy Armfield - all hail Jimmy Armfield. Les Dawson lived locally may he RIP - as did/does Mighty Mo of the Roly Pollies. Norman Barratt (not Pink Floyld but world famous ring master!). Barry Jon Mather and John Bevan (Rugby stars). Jimmy Clitheroe. George Formby. Half of the shite double act Lenny and Jerry (80s). Beverley Hills of Brookside and Children's TV fame has family in Blackpool

• John Mahoney (Marty Crane in Frasier) was born here according to the local rag before his family moved to Manchester. Other natives include Robert Smith of The Cure and Graham Nash of The Hollies and Crosby Stills and Nash, actor David Thewlis and film director Peter Chelsom.

Buskers, Street Entertainers

• There was this one time where my two friends saw a man wanking on the beach looking out towards the sea. The girls were quite frightened. I say peace out man and don't loose control for it could get quite messy.

• the man who has the huge python is pretty cool
• theres this 1 guy who draws cartoons of you and if you kick his chair over he runs and shouts and tries to hit kids. a guy throws stuff on fire, thats good. sopmeone draws with his feet, we have it all.
• The guy who stands at the corner of Victoria Street and Bank Hey Street and says "Get yer wrigglies, only a pound. Only a pound, get yer wrigglies" whilst waving a bit of string on the end of a stick. Fascinates no-one except folk from Burnley.
• Check out the juggler that hangs around near the Midland bank opposite the Disney Store. Juggles with fire, a huge machette, clubs and does kick-ups with a football. All at the same time.
• People eat fire in the town centre
• Back of Pricebusters on the prom
• There's usually a juggler in town and sometimes a guy in a kilt playing the bagpipes!!

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
