Favourite Building
The Park- not so much a building but it has class and tranquility about it
The favourite building at the Crystal Palace would have to be the Crystal Palace, if it was still there. My mother watched it burn down (and she still lives in Penge) She tells me that she watched the first ever TV broadcast which used John Logie Baird's camera, studio and transmitter which were located in the Crystal Palace building and was viewed on the world's only two televisions, one of which was in the window of Radio Relays (which changed its name to Radio Rentals). His equipment was destroyed in the fire which destroyed the Crystal Palace. The Science Museum at S Kensington has confirmed that his equipment was destroyed in the fire ( and they have a replica of his camera), but I have never found confirmation about the broadcast. I know she was only a toddler at the time, but I don't think she could have invented this. Can anyone confirm thbis story??????
Demolish It Now Building
Selhurst Park
The protestors' camp. The proposed building may not look great but the site's a wasteland.
It ain't built yet - BUT if Bromley Council erect the so called 'Lesiure Boxes' upon this tranquil oasis, the identity and atmosphere of Crystal Palace will be gone forever. SO, don't wait - Let's demolish it before they build it!: see www.dulwich.co.uk/CrystalPalace/

DEFINITELY strange and mystic! Laden with psychic ley line type vibes! No really - just go there and find out. The ruins of the Crystal Palace are particularly spooky, with a great view down huge stairs over bizzare statues. The Parade has the borders of four boroughs - hey, it must mean something! Loads of bank machines. Crystal Palace is often referred to as 'The Palace' or 'Crip'. The park can be absolutely fantastic in the summer, packed with all sorts of people. Nothing really nasty about the place.
Strange and mystic place, complete with Victorian model dinosaurs in the park and two mini-Eiffel Tower TV transmitters. You can see for miles in all directions. Lots of wooded parkland all around. Crazy old architecture abounds. Excellent museum nearby (Horninmans) in Forest Hill. Generally good place.
