Food
Food in Ross is pretty good given the nature of the place- Check out The Obilash for an ace tandoori (best I've ever tasted), China Boy Jo opposite for fantastic chinese & for the ultimate romantic scoff Pheasants in Edde Cross St takes some beating.
lots of fast food shops , But if you are a single girl, don't go past the obilash on your own , they will have you in the doorway faster than you can say popadom, my daughter is only 13, and one of them tried it on.
mings is a good chip shop. "the best" though, is open until about 4 in the morning, so you will see many a piss head buying chips from there after a nights indulgence
MEADERS HUNGARIAN RESTAURANT IS THE BEST HUNGO RESTAURANT IN ROSS-ON-WYE. THE CHEF IS TOP NOTCH AND ALSO LOOKS LIKE A DODGY 70'S PORN STAR. SERIOUSLY THOUGH THE PIZZAS ARE ACE. OTHER EATERIES INCLUDES MINGS CHIP SHOP EMPORIUM.
Fish and Chip shops all over.
The best pub for food is the White Lion on Wilton Bridge, just outside the town centre.
Pubs
the best pubs in ross in my opinion are: Weatherspoons, the Crown, Riverside, Charlie, the eagle and J.d's.
Well I must say the pub where i work the "charlie" great place, ive been 2 the crown twice since the changed it and that was sun 28th apr and mon 29th and i dont like it, eagels ok, connallys is great. Spoons AkA Weahterspoons, the Mail rooms is ok great decor but too quiet need music PLEASE
Many many pubs in ross serve underage drinkers. They don't care. neither do the underage drinkers.
Ross has quite a few pubs in all fairness, although I only ever go into about 4 of them, however they've recently done up the crown and septre because they're making the old post office into a wetherspoons place, the eagle, down the bottom of broad street opposite where the cinema used to be,has had a recent make over aswell.Wow,wizz zeez posh pubs zey are really spoiling us...
ec shellente...
I would like to correct the person who talked of swilling pints of cafferys in the hope and anchor in the fact that the hope doesn't actually serve it!
THE HOPE AND ANCHOR IS NOT ALL THAT. GO TO THE STAG OR PLOUGH FOR THE LESBIAN NUDY DART CONTESTS, SO I'VE HEARD.
King Charles II ("Charlie") is Ok if you're 16, otherwise you'll feel ancient.
The Hope and anchor down by the river is nice, if a tad pricey.
The Crown and sceptre by the market house has a good beer selection, but can be crowded Friday/Saturday nights
King Charles, Crown and Septer, Horse and jockey, Hope and Anchre or as it is otherwise known, The Hoples W##ker!!!And a few others I can't be bothered to remember!!!
The Riverside Inn Ross's own Fawlty Towers.
The place to be over the summer months is swilling down pints of Caffreys by the river in the Hope and Anchor.
Lots of good pubs around this area.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
what about jacqui's cafe? nice if u like the greasy spoon!
Cheapest coffee is served in Church hall in Broad Street on Thurs and Sat mornings
many many of these.
Well next to the person powered bike shop on broad street theres a health food shop/cafe called oat cuisine which is pretty good. Also on broad street opposite the market house theres the central bakery,on gloucester road (past the market place) is a nice cafe called poppies. But if you just want a good old greasy spoon caff, get down to the one in cantilupe road, cant remember what its called but they do some good grease.
