Hookup Spots

  • hitchin football club - lots of fresh faced people adorn this place
  • The Hill is an excellent place for young people to meet and socialise. Unfortunately a number of them consume too much alcohol and usually end up being robbed or assaulted. To those who rob stay away, to those who get drunk or drink under age, stay away. To the majority of law abiding young people, welcome, be safe, stay by the cctv, and ring us before trouble starts. Inspector Steve MANN- Hitchin Police Station.
  • Hey i am a 'young un' so i'll tell you were me and my mates hang out. The hill., the dell, the graveyard, red rooster, southern fried and that park by the library. Please you hangs out at the pool and whsmiths benches?!
  • there are a few benches around the churchyard if you are lookin for somewhere to meet your mates. also that is very near to the stair sets in the market place. if you are feelin brave then try to olly the top set. impressive if you get it right
  • The church is always a good place to meet kewl alternative people.
  • the market at night!!! HAH good one
  • The Chill Chamber - top of windmill hill
  • The graveyard in the town centre...hmm maybe that's just me. Also the market stalls on a Sunday afternoon are always good
  • Hitchin is a fantastic town with lots of rustic charm. For girlies with prams, try Stevenage; for boy racers, try Luton. Stick to Hitchin for a nice coffee on a bustling Saturday afternoon at one of the cafes with outside tables for the perfect place to hang out. There will always be places for the young-uns to hang out in any town, and in Hitchin these are: The Hill, the pool, ransoms,WHSmiths benches and any other playing field or bus shelter. Hitchin is cool. P.S The Howard Centre is in Welwyn (and not worth mentioning).
  • outside the quotidian sun street while waiting for your bike to be fixed on a saturday afternoon.
  • Err? not sure why this is even worth mentioning...people who hang round in Hitchin ain't worth hanging round with! Go LUTON ppl
  • Outside Woolworths on a Saturday. There's always a bunch of kids sitting on a bench.
  • hitchin pool on a hot summers day. yup - its a good view alright.
  • The Hill is one of those places under the cameras, which are monitored!
  • As mentioned below, the hill is without doubt the only place. We all used to go up there for drunk skirt fun.
  • The market is quite a good place to have a laugh. Particuarly the stalls in front of the river!!!! Also ransoms rec is great when you're pissed!
  • Well, lets see...while most kids can be found pushing prams around there are a few (probably the Dads) that can be seen standing around like shrunken cheap Versace & Fubu models. Try outside any bus stop at 3.35pm. They gather in packs. Its not unknown for the youngsters to PAY the owners of shiny novas and bumped up escorts to sit in the passenger seats of said cars as they cruise past Woolies blasting music mobile disco styleeee. 'Classics' such as Shaggy and The Bahamen can be enjoyed at ear splitting volume. nice.
  • I think they r saying the howard centre 2 take the piss (cos theres nowhere decent to hang out in hitchin so go 2 sumwhere better)!
  • the bus stops on the NEW market square
  • Butts Close- packed in the summer with young girls who think it's cool to get tarted up and sit in a field drinking alco-pops!
  • All the rudies in the Market Place or outside WHSmiths ( on the benches )
  • For the last time......The Howard Center is in Welwyn Garden City. I'll not tell you again.
  • The Howard Centre is NOT in Hitchin, poss in Letchworth.
  • The benches outside WHSmiths sees a lot of my boys hanging round, waiting to pick up their giros!
  • There is, and only ever will be, one hookup spot in Hitchin. This is Windmill Hill (just The Hill to those of us in the know) An oasis of green tranquility in the town centre, it is placed conviniently in between the loacl boys' & girls' schools. A bit like Primrose Hill, but with more hidden places to do the things that you really should(n't) be doing at that age young man!
  • howard centre

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
