Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains

  • Too many to mention. High priced designer gear.
  • Censored...too expensive, kinda like trendy street/skate wear, not the real deal skate shop or anything.
  • mmm...why cus gravesons? i mean its the only place u can still get farahs in hertford? its closing down to be turned into yuppie flats...is that some kind of improvement? the geezer in the mens section at gravesons has worked there for years and he djs at the end...well not really, but i bet he could, i mean he was playing hard house when everyone was listening to the beatles.
  • there are a few decent clothes shops such as New Look, ID's, Lofas and more ther is also other shops down there and for men as well, such as Hertford jeans company.
  • CENSORED SKATE AND SURF CLOTHING SHOP IN HERTFORD!! OPPOSITE PARLIMENT RECORDS! NOT BAD!! BUT HEY IT'S HERTFORD! A LOT OF CRAFTY STUFF THOUGH!!
  • FOR SOME WICKED FUNKY SKATE STYLE CLOTHING!! TRY www.sonsnotdogs.com !! THEIR WEB SITE IS BEING UPDATED AT THE MOMENT, BUT STILL AVAIBLE TO VIEW! SHOULD BE FULLY FINISHED IN ABOUT 4 WEEKS, AS FROM (6/4/01)
  • Don't even attempt to buy clothes here. Gravesons is dire, The Edinburgh Woolen Mill is strictly for the over 55s and Hertford Jeans Co. is so small it is hard to turn around without hitting the pestering owner ("Wanna Ben Sherman shirt with that mate? Go on its nice innit? etc etc)
  • Why are there no cool clothes shops like Top Shop, Miss Selfridge, River Island, Bay Trading, Outfit,....... the list is endless. Why do we get stuck with a tacky 9-13 shop, New Look, and a 60+ shop, The Woollen Mill? What's happened 2 the shops that cater for the range in between 10 and 60?
  • Go to Gravesons if you want to buy school uniform. Otherwise don't bother going ANYWHERE near Hertford for clothes.
  • County Care Dry Cleaners
  • Event - Good price, usually chain store seconds. Get really chaep at sale time...£4.99 a garment. Gravesons - a bit more up market oldie stuff but good underwear and smart stuff
  • There are a lot of shops for this, the usual Fosters and so on, but we also have a few that specialise in Levis and designer label stuff. Mambo, Toking etc
  • There is a good one next to the bookies near Mc.D's

Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)

  • Thanks for saying we're a good one! Our name's Hertfordshire Graphics, if you could add it! ps in same bit..Creative Touch no longer there or Silence of the Lambs man!!!
  • Theres a good one on st. andrews street near the library
  • New craft shop called Creative Touch - sells all things to do with making handmade greetings cards. Find them at 41 Chambers Street ( bottom of port hill by Walton Motors) Tel:01992 552526 or www.creative-touch.co.uk
  • Courtyard Art Gallery.
  • I have never seen anything interesting ion Courtyard Arts...sorry!
  • There is a craft shop on the corner by Oxfam books run by a creepy, long-nailed trannie. (Like Buffalo Bill in "Silence of the Lambs")
  • One small craft shop in the area of Mcdonalds. Also Harts of Hertford is great for sewing stuff.
  • Harvest Moon, for all your candle and incense stick needs
  • One of the only things that Hertford is any good for. Plenty of Antiques shops and crafty places.
  • Lots of antique shops in St Andrew St.. Events at Haileybury, posh public school in Hertford Heath.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Hertford. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Hertford.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
