Food
Paradise is the best takeaway ever, and now open for lunch!
Balti Bazaar is the best Indian Takeaway I have ever been to!
PIZZA ISLAND next to the afore mentioned GASTRONOME
Maughans Bakery(nice Beef Sarnies and top totty!!!)
Pizza Carino (top pizza)
Paradise! the only kebab shop in my opinion
Though we do have take aways a million so plenty to choose from.
The dodgy indian takeaways that have suddenly popped up in our area.
The Hare and Hounds at Hartshead Common - Restaurant food
The chinese t/a on Old Bank Road (by the Saville Arms)
Pizza Carino on Old Bank Road - not bad at all (personally think its better than Quattro on Church Lane)
Maxims - by far the best Chinese takeaway at the top end of Mirfield (Old Bank again)
China Garden - probably the best at the bottom end - Flash Lane area
Old Bank Chippy - by the Co-op, large portions (!)
Pizza island, one of the 12 take-a-ways, is by far the best and cheapest pizza shop ever.
Fish'n'chips, great pub food, numerous indian, italian and chinese take-aways. A 24-hour fish'n'chips shop. Even one or two English restaurants.
If you want a pizza with a smile, Quatro pizza shop on a Saturday night is the place to be. The pizzas are gorgeous and so is one of the members of staff (you'll know who I mean). The best supermarket in the area is the Food Fair in Mirfield town centre.
Pubs
Loads of pubs with cheep booze! Fountain wins hands down.
The Three Nuns is 'just'about the cleanest place I've eaten in Mirfield. The Plough is disgusting-dirty cruet, black oil dripping across the plate Ugh!!! The Travellers, Sunday lunch was a travesty, I should not have paid!!!The Black Bull needs an injection of 'Life'--NOT DOSSERS. The Shoulder--Spotless,friendly atmosphere. The Railway--You meet all sorts.
NAVIGATION TAVERN down station road by the train station. PROPER ALE - not your poncy lager crap.
Don't know what ever happened to the Swan. Mirfield no longer seems to have a pub that everyone goes to although going in any pub around Mirfield everyone knows someone.
The Swan, everyone you ever would want to know is/was there. Only during university summer holidays now!!
Food - The Hare and Hounds - Hartshead Common
Women - Forget it, go to Dewsbury or Batley.
Yep, Thirsty Man, Hare & Hounds, Black Bull, Dusty Miller, Fountain, Ship, Travellers Rest, Flower Pot, Railway. That's all I can think of
Often missed as right on the edge of Mirfield - but The Fountain has a lot to offer, good beer and the friendliest staff around.
The Hare & Hounds is ok, but a long walk home after a few pints. I recommend the Dusty Miller on a Friday for a top night.
Travellers Rest at the top of Hopton Hill, The Ship situated between the River and the canal, The Flower Pot - some of the finest Tetley and Theakstons pubs in the country.
Bar far the worst pub in Mirfield is the Black Bull, it still has flashing disco lights clearly visible from the outside, so 70's!
The best pub has to be The Hare And Hounds in Upper Hopton, where they have some of the best looking female staff around, but the male members of staff are a bit dodgy.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
GASTRONOME on Huddersfield Road at the Bottom of St Pauls Road
Gastronome thinks its something its not and bus fayre cafe is just another British greasy spoon
A few, in the centre mainly
Also, Busfayre Amusements by the bus stop..another hookup spot for those who wish they could see over the bar in the pub.
