Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
The Gold Medal Pub..Every Thursday..Local Bands 9pm
The Boat need i say more great when drunk not so good unless ya stottin though .... beer googles do tend to improve the local talent at least by 100% (easier to take less notice of the 100 scrunnchies(on lasses) naff looking cap(on the really hard ones and also on lads) + kappa tracksuit)
Erm...Baha on the riverside and the boat next door to it.
Cassidys night club in Birtley is just a place for juevinile dilinquents from the Birtley/Barley Mow area!!
Baja and the Boat on the Quayside are actually, let us remember, in Gateshead not Newcastle. Both are cheesy and full of drunkeness and pulling. The Boat is v.cheap away from weekends. Baja tends to get big queues. Bar Metro also keeps the music pumping till 2, but quite who for I have never quite figured...probably that guy standing in the corner.
Live Music Venues
The Sage Gateshead Music Centre opened in 2004 and has 3 halls for live music.
Newcastle
Any charva lad with a good bit of ICE in his motor... (Gateshead has more cars worth less than there ICE than anywhere else on the planet)
Telewest arena, Gateshead stadium(for charity events eg.galaxy out there live for the princes trust)
Gibside Estate in summer takes some beating
Can't get much better than the Duke of Cumberland in the Felling. Excellent place for rock music
Cinemas
the nearest cinema is over newcastle
boldon ugc and odeon newcastle.
The cinema at the metro center is scruffy and they never seam to clean it... its abit like the round house used to be wipe ya feet on the way out and dont stay to long in one spot or u'll stick.....possibly forever possibly loads of missing persons stuck to the floor in there
The Odean in N'castle is much better
Loads in the Metrocentre
Warner bros., odeon
bastard
11 screen UCI, 30-odd lane bowling and Quasar at the Metro Centre. In Gateshead proper none of this exist as the kids go joy-riding instead.
The Metrocentre has got every entertainment you'd want, even the seedy arcades
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Gateshead.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Gateshead.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
