Skateboarding Spots
There is a great spot in leam lane in fewster square, gateshead. The area is great for skating and has a tarmac miniramp with transitions that the council acidentally built without knowing it was any good for skating. The square also has cobblestone gaps to ollie and 3 and 4 sets around the place.
Felling square, not alot to do, a 5 set, and a ollie over a wall to a drop afew feet down, some benches and a ledge a little further back, this is up next to the flats, if you go further down to the square, theres a few walls to trick over, and if you go even further down, to the park, theres some ledges, and normally some random stuff lying about to trick over, Kwik Save, just some walls basically to olly onto and ride off, or trick off, and a loading bay around the back about waist height, theres always a wheely bin there for a little bit of a challenge.
next to the courts in yhe park by the road... turn it into a bike/skate park!
Outside any Civic Centre, if they tell you to shift ask where the nearest skate park is and watch your local council worker be lost for words!
Theres quite a good place up near Whickham, in gateshead. Go to St. Mary's primary school it is good for beginners, theres rails, stairs, steps, walls, a play area, a thing that looks like this \__/ (not a halfpipe though) LOL :D go theres, sometimes charvers go there to play football. Go at weekends lots of sk8ers go there. Be There!
the green
For the skater who likes a quiet skate you could go to Saltwell Park, some areas are in need of repair, but mostly it is good for skating, especially at the bottom end of the lake.
I usually go to the rear of Marquis Court, Team Valley on a Sunday because there's no-one there and it's a nice smooth surface for inline blading.
Five Bridges: bank beneath a fly-over (stays dry). Yellowbanks: bank beneath a tower block (you can see the block from five bridges). Transitioned brick banks. Other direction from Five Bridges from Yellow Banks in a housing estate. More: ask locals.
Skateboard Shops
Native, Lo Friar St. Newcastle, Behind the Gate, anything you need for skateboarding.
Triple S is a new shop in the MEtro Centre opposite Woolworths upstairs. It is a skateboarding, surfing, blading etc shop. Really cool for gear. They basicily sell everything apart skateboards.
McGuerk Sports on Newgate Street, Newcastle sells a decent range of inline equipment including Bauer boots and accessories.
