The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
Just wanted to let all teenagers know that the 'On the Edge' youht programme run out of St Mark's Church in the town is one of biggest gatherings of its kind in the UK, definately biggest in Ireland as a whole! We provide a safe, friendly, sociable yet Christian-based environment for all young people aged 12-17, regardless of who they are, where they live or go to school or what religion or beliefs(if any) they would adhere to. Its there to be enjoyed by all, and thank goodness for it in my opinion- i mean what else would there be for them to do in Portadown? Down the Bann or the estates with a bottle under their arm.......trendy and stylish i don't think. the 2002/2003 On the Edge year is well under way, with over 400 members, and regularly attracting 300 teenagers on the big night-Fridays. Portadown needs something like this to mould a new generation for our town-one with respect, courtesy and common decency which we all have, if only we looked hard enough!

HAVE A READ
Whatever happened to the Yella family. Billy in particular who raided Killicomaine Post Office several years ago. Notoriously stupid as he wore a T-shirt and came from the only West Indian family that lived there at the time !!
At least it's not Markethill.
Portadown is Car-Parkie capital of the world! See them in their little red Vauxhall Novas, parked in a line, passing Big Macs through the windows and speaking to each-other on Toymaster Walkie Talkies. It's a totally unique anthropological phenomenon!
Portadown is a terrific place to visit a proud town that gets bad PR FROM PEOPLE WHO RATHER LIVE ELSEWERE BUT ARE CONTENT IN SPOILING IT FOR EVERYONE
I grew up in Portadown and have been living in Toronto for the past three years. What I liked about Portadown was going to Bennetts or McConvilles for a pint or six after work and just taking a doss up the town on Saturdays to check out the talent. My brother Sunny loved watching the best team in the Irish League, so Shamrock would be one of his favourite places. What I didn't like was that Portadown didn't have much as far as Clubs were concerned but there was always a strong contingent of Ports lads in the Coach every Saturday night. Brownstown Park was always a favourite of mine in my younger days to drink my carry-out which included a two litre bottle of Strongbow and a couple a cans a Bass. I would love to hear from any other Portadown folk.
Portadown was my home town for 20 years. I have now lived in New York for 4 years. I definitely agree with one person quote that Portadown is a great place because their Granny lives there. It's also a great place because my Mum, my Da, my brother and all my friends are there. About meeting people - you can meet people anywhere in Portadown and anywhere else in N. Ireland for that matter. If you talk to anyone they will talk back. The entertainment isn't that good but what there is can be a real good laugh. Anything else you need to know just e-mail my friends here. If there are any people out there from Portadown you can e-mail (tkkett@usa.pipeline.com me for a chat. It may take me a while to get back to you but I will.
The BEST thing about Portadown is that my Granny live there and she's wonderful!!!
