Food

  • The new Indian is great for takeaways and eating in, really stylish for Lutterworth!
  • WEL BAKERS OVEN WAS FINE
  • Exotic Spice new Indian on Church Street! also has the new 'street' name of Erotic Spice. Though no-one has ever ventured into this place.
  • I got an email from a Lutterworth restaurant today. The Cavalier Inn. I am always looking for a new place to try..but I do think it's a bit of a drive from the States! I decided to check out the local color anyway, as I am also always looking for a new place to travel. You have sufficiently scared me off :)
  • 2002 Update: see coffee shop section, the curry house is still highly, highly highly recommended.
  • Chinky Pete's - best Chinese in Lutterworth - or is it the only one... Not very good at chips though.
  • The Sunagow Indian Restaurant used to be a dream, they had fantastic food.
  • indian chinease chippy takeaway down linden drive and down town the is pizza man chinky and another chippy oh and the anazing harryhaddocks down central ave!
  • Chengs Special fried rice never fails to please. Pizzaman is good but they always make you wait a bit too long when you are drunk and need a wee, Sunar Gow's lovely aromas entice you from Koggy's beer garden.
  • Ok, big news, the mighty-bite cafe has been sold by cherry and bought by Rosannes tea room, who have turned it into......another tea room cum cafe, just what the town needs more of..... And theres no an indian take away next to the great wall on greenacres, no reports as of yet though.
  • Cheikos (gorgeous food, smells a bit funny), Pizza (alright, I think), A couple of Chinese (both gorgeous, though Greenacres is my choice) and 3 fish bars (again, Greenacres tops it, though The Lutterworth Chippy in the town centre probably gets most business)... Um, The Indian which is alwas full of pub-lads and startled people but is cheap and nice...... I should be a tour guide.
  • The Kebab Van fed yor belly until they found out where the meat cum from and his taste for getting medieval on drunks with fast mouths.
  • CHINKY NEXT TO THE BALLOON,DONT GO TO THE CHINKY IN THE CENTRE DODGY WELL DODGY INIAN ON STATION ROAD LUTTERWORTH CHIPPY THE FOODS OK BUT THE SOS IS SHITE NEW CHIPPY OPENING UP NEXT TO THE CHINKY AND AN INDIAN ON THE SAME ROW OF SHOPS LOOKS LIKE THE NEW GORMMET CENTRE FOR FOOD IS NEXT TO THE BALLOON
  • Don't go to the Indian... my girlfriend and I went and we were both sick, sick like dogs, after eating cat curry.
  • Pizzaman: Despite the shite name, rumoured to actually produce some nice food. but you'll require £7 for a big ham and pineapple.
  • The Office: Now closed down, really was full of people from offices.
  • Rossans Tea Room: A very pleasant place since they stopped the sixth form students going in.
  • Paper Tiger is a quality Cantonese restaurant that does an excellent crispy Peking duck.
  • Chengs Garden chinese take a way - good and cheap.
  • Sunar Gow - Excellent curries open till 1am.
  • Lutterworth Chippy (actually called that)

Pubs

  • ok, time for an annual update. March 2001 and the shambles has recently undergone another refit, now displaying new dodgy `straight out of a hotel room' wallpaper, and the walls have been painted a shade of cappucino brown which serves only to hide nicotine staining and make the place seem even dingier. It's now being managed by Cath, wife of the late Pete Ford - who was a great bloke i'd like to say. Koggy's continues to be the best place to go for a drink in Lutterworth. The greyhound has not changed whatsoever, although the drinks are still perhaps the most expensive in Lutterworth. The Red Arrow has become a popular location for a summer drink, whereas no-one ever goes to the club or the denbigh. The unicorn also remains stuck in the 1950's.
  • The Shambles - Teenage drinking den, full of Sixth Formers debating whether or not they can handle a thrid pint or not.

The Hind - Dirty hole, full on teenagers without the class to be let into the shambles

Coggis - Full of rugby player types
  • SHambles and Koggys both attract a 'fresh faced'crowd, but the others are full of old men and slags, mostly. I recently found out that the Unicorn (old man pub) is not only the cheapest, but does loads of vegan/vegearian food... can't be bad.
  • cavalier now known as the byker grove, Koggys good place but same fucking faces 6 different groups every week. Shambles less said the better
  • I vomitted in the(stil there)teapot on the shelf of the Royal Oak.Every year it was a rite of passage.Usually after getting off with a bird with a broomstick and warts(oh,sorry that could be just about bleedin' any bird in the vacinity)
  • If i lived in the 17th century my local would have been "The Sarisan".
  • IF WERE NOT FOR THESE LITTLE HAVENS LUTTERWORTH WOULD HAVE COME TO A GRINDING HALT AND DISSAPPEARED UP ITS OWN ARSE MANY MOONS AGO.NO ONE PUB IS THE BEST OR WORST BUT DO AVOID THE UNICORN IF YOU AND YOUR MATES HAVE A COMBINED AGE OF LESS THAN 900
  • The Baloon no longer serve Indian food. The new landlord threw the Sunar Gow out and started doing his own Indian Cuisine. This appeared a great success and was good and cheap. However he has now stopped doing this and serves boring old pub food instead. Still got the big telly though and the pool tables are now 50p.
  • The Hind Should open again soooooon!!!! looks better and better - let's hope it's going to be a great venue, better thatn the 'dive' it used to be.
  • The Unicorn - The place to go to be thrashed at dominoes by some old farmer. Worth a visit if only to admire the Double Diamond ashtrays, and attractive nicotine stained decor. The Fox - Don't know, does anyone ever actually go there? The Legion - Tucked away oppositte the Greyhound, really not recommended The Lutterworth Club - Same as the Legion The Cavalier - Full of Eric Cantona lookalikes and a tribe of locals with no chin.
  • Updates: Koggys Bar; Now sporting a total revamp, it used to feel like you were drinking in your own front lounge, but since the recent revamp, now feels like your sitting a Dulux pain showroom, with every wall a different colour, and Koggy just went to IKEA to buy all his pictures and mirrors. It's appalling. Although they do sell BUDVAR, a real highlight is the fact that Owen Williams still drinks there., (it's the only bar in Lutterworth thats too scared to bar him) Really cant see any similarity between Koggys and a club, obviously someone has yet to escape the magical attractions of Lutterworth similarity with a club, just a poxy bar sell Budvar, The Shambles, Under new management again, not worth drinking here unless you are under the age of twenty or over the age of 45. But at least theres still Betty propping up the end of the bar, oh and theyve installed a pool table into the old snug. It's still funny to watch the little boys behind the bar run at the sight of any violent trouble. The Hind, Purchased by Ned Van Allen (the guy who rebuilt the shambles from a derelict building). Its being completely rebuilt and refurbished, rumour has it it may feature the first actual nightclub in Lutterworth. Due to open late in the year 2000 Red Arrow, Also recently sporting a light refurbishment, this place still seems half empty these days, although the new signs are rather nice....
  • There's no mention of about the best bar in lutterworth on here, Koggy's. Usually you can find quite a few nice women in there somewhere, especially in the summer, in the little beer garden. Go there on a friday night and see the up and coming women from LGS and have a few before going to the Dog til late. A good crack and the landlord's wife's nice too. Play pool and go to the smallest toilet in England, at least it's better than the dive that is the shambles where you don't even get a full pint, and where the barmaids are minging!
  • The Balloon:situated on Greenacres Drive estate it has amazing facilities for you serious drinker/eater on a Friday or Saturday night binge. Best pool tables in Lutterworth and cheapest as well at only 40p. Serves Banks and Pedigree bitters, Harp Irish and Grolsch lagers and Scrumpy Jack. Various alcopops as well. The only pub in Lutterworth with a 6 foot by 6 foot screen for your must watch footie games. Added new feature in the pub, Indian Food...The Sunar Gow has gone into partnership here and its cheaper than the restaurant. Go on...give the Balloon and try and be suprised.
  • At time of writing, The Hind is boarded up and growing vegetation from its gutters.
  • The sir Frank Whittle Closed, Knocked down and a Peugeot garage built on the site - please note that the clientel should still be avoided. The Hind Closed down in the Summer of 1997
  • Outdated information...Sir Frank Whittle now demolished to make way for Richardsons Peugeot garage which relocated due to a Safeway supermarket. The Hind has now closed and the local brothal has been raided...not bad for a small market town ! Oh yeah..The Denby should read The Denbigh Hotel, other than that it's the same shit, different day !

Cafes and Coffee Shops

  • KIMPTON SMIT OK
  • A NEW SWEET SHOP HAS JUST OPENED WHERE THE PAINT SHOP USED TO BE SELLS ALL THE SWEETS YOU CAN THINK OF!
  • 2002 update: The mighty bite is no more......they want to put a curry house in it's place, but that wonderful town council think the small pretty market town of Lutterworth has too many take aways....someone please wake that Eileen Derrick woman up to the new millenium please.....
  • Kimpton Smiths before the great fire of 88?
  • roseannes mmm cakes mmm derecks mmm bread!
  • Why go for a coffee when you can greet your ol' friend Stella at Koggy's?
  • Rosannes (where everyone skives to) and SAfeways Café (which is often boycotted by angry students, but is still full of them) along with a new one that has replaced the scum-hole that was Mitey Bite.
  • TEA?COFFEE?Wheres the pub?Ah,Yes plenty to choose from.
  • Annes Cafe.A hole for truckers, may become roadkill if yo drunk like a contender, worth the hike to stool on the step.
  • BACK OF THE CO-OP IS ROSANNES BUT THATS FOR GRANNY,THER IS ONE ON CHURCH STREET BUT I CANT REMEMBER WHAT ITS CALLED
  • The new safeway now boasts the latest addition to wide variety of coffee shops in Lutterworth, But it's always full of school kids who cannot be arsed to walk all the way into town.
  • WE DONT DRINK COFFEE WE DRINK BEER.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Lutterworth. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Lutterworth.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
