Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
The only existing ladies fashion emporium Brambles, has gone. It's now Punch the Opticians. Sorry girls, but you'll have to shop in fords.... or the bridal shop now on the high street. Yet again luterworth seems to gain a bizarre small trade shop which will go bust in two years.
Yet again, who on earth shops in Hadley's menswear and how does it not go bankrupt.
A fantesticles new Mill shop thingy that sells okay-ish discount clothes, a wedding dress shop... and good old Age Concern - you just gotta love it.
D'ya know, when me mate Stu and I were walking home from the Oak in Bitterswell the rozzers stopped and pulled us in to the Station for a night in the cells as I was wearing the same kind of jumper that had earlier been knicked from Hadleys that week and the rozzer asked me if me mam was aknown thief."She may well be" I said."But by God if she was nicking from Hadleys I'd have her institutionalised,Sir!"I spent the night in the cells.I guess they had sod all else to do.
HADLEYS,FOR THAT GRANDPA ABOUT TOWN LOOK
Ford's, your one-stop shop where no child will ever admit entering. Parents flock to the shelves eager to buy those nice black plimpsoles with the big tractor tire on the front. Everything under £2.00
Casuals was the best ladys cloths shop around for miles. Same it closed it's doors about seven years ago
Age Concern.
Brambles; since deceased.
Classic mens clothes shop just behind the Shambles, that's classic if you wont to look like every other dorky teenager in Lutterworth.
Please dont forget Age Concern! Nice Quality, Nice Price!
As far as I can ascertain there is only one clothes shop on the main st that has held the same stock for around 25-30 yrs.
Hadleys Menswear: Ideal for the over 35's who attempt to drink in The Shambles - note - you're all too old - go to The Fox.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
the worth's museum always a winner pushing on the same size as the london museum but free to get in
ed bradbury PLEASE come back! (zebra face/edna and the woof stallions need to breathe some life back into this black hole!)
local artists display their work at the museum and there are daily courses to take in pottery etc
Their used to be a lady who owned a shop on Van Allen Court she used to have a sewing club. From of Co-op
Now you're talking. Lutterworth Gallery! Not really a gallery, but a framing shop. PLus there's a couple of vomitous gift shops (Choice and a new one, Rainbow something-or-other - I thought it was a gay shop to start with... not bloody likely in Lutterworth) and a not-too-bad-one called Wishbone. Aspect could contend but it's overpriced and the assistants are often surly. God, I'm pleasant.
The Gas works until they make it into "Fat Turkeys Roadside Eatery".
THERE IS AN ART GALLERY IT DOES HAVE SOME NICE PAINTINGS BUT WE'RE NOT TALKING TATE MODERN HERE
Theres now a pine furniture shop on church st, which sells well....just pine furniture really, and theres a saddle shop out on the main rd by Gees garage, thats the best Lutterworth has to offer to be honest....
Magazine and Comic Shops
A few newsagents, including a specialist magazine shop which sells all sorts of exciting tites - FLyfishers Monthly, Le Monde, Cross-stitch Anonymous... the list goes on.
SIMMS! If only for the obscure section and the always pleasing range of crap stocking fillers.
G.T.News.Never ,ever buy FHM from there because the old bird behind the counter looks at you as if she JUST KNOWS what you're gonna be up to.
GT News. Look shifty and they might follow you round.
Sims. Shoplifting made easy.
SIMMS,GT NEWS ,MERCURY NEWS,EVERY CORNERSHOP YOU SEE TAKE YOUR PICK
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
